Hey Troops,

Its my pleasure to launch our latest channel in the sith channel(s)...  Channel 9!

"The origins of the Jedi order are forever lost to time, but much of their early history has been recorded in specialized information modules known as Jedi Holocrons..."

 -Star Wars.com

We at Sandtroopers now have our own "holocron" in the form of Bill Varner and his fiancee Cheryl.  From time to time, they will be posting pictures and stories of interesting, unique, rare, or hard-to-find items in their collection... some of the history of this hobby.

Its our intention to update this weekly featuring a new item... Check it out here.  Let me know what you think...

Trooper Tim reports:

"Hey Troopers,

I just spent another exhausting trip driving around the bay and didn't find much. Started in Emeryville TRU and found nothing, then down to WalMart in San Leandro, again nothing. Newark Mall (TRU, Target) yielded zip. Then down to south San Jose to TRU, nothing but dust covered pegs. Shot back up to Redwood City and Foster City TRU, nothing but a toy void. Is everyone getting the picture? I did find the LEGO Jedi Starfighter at the Target in Colma, however. It's sooooooooooooo frustrating! Oh well, perseverance pays off.....eventually. Can't wait for next weekend!!"

awingace@msn.com

I feel your pain, buddy.  Same stuff on the pegs here... oh wait, fx7 wave hit this week ;)

Hang in there!

"Hello from Indy, home of the Celebration II.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I found the new AT-ST exclusive in stock at the Greenwood, IN TRU. They had 8 of them. You need to ask to see if they have them. This TRU is trying to keep scalpers from buying all of them and leaving none for us. I got the first one, so there were still 7 of them as of 6 p.m. wednesday. He said there is an Episode II vehicle 'in transit' to the warehouse. Hopefully it will appear in the next week or so. He had no date on getting the preview figs."

"The Forgotten Force Ultimate Resource Guide presents the latest Casting Call of ... Bothan Spies!

All of the entries from the recent Bothan Spy custom contest (as well as a few new ones) have been sent over for March's Casting Call. 26 customized action figures by 11 different artists make up the debut. Click here for all the details.

So, what's in store for April's Casting Call? Something a bit different...characters from Dave Myatt's original online comic book ... JAWA FORCE!! Customizers can read the comic first, and then get started on creating customs based on the characters appearing in the story! (Regular Jawa customs will be accepted, as well.)

And coming in May...a special Casting Call celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope!

Happy Customizing!"

Troops, if you're at all into customizing figures or making custom cards, FFURG is one of the best resources out there!

Trooper Baldrik reports:

"Sneak preview figures at Foothills Mall Walmart in Tucson Arizona 3/7/02. 2 cases instantly gone by some Hot Wheels dog. Probably on e-pay by know. I followed this guy up to the cashier thinking if he left it unattended for a second (that what I'v been reduced to, a scavanger of scalpers carts) I could may be get me a set but no dice. A couple of his Hot wheel buddies hooked up with him (I could tell they where diecast guys cause they had several cars in hand) and that was the end of that. So keep an eye out for them cause they have arrived.

PS: The moral of my story is I just preorderd a set from Entertainment earth because thats the only way I'm going to get them. Can't buy retail any more because there are to many slugs out there."

Baldrik747@aol.com

Thats too bad...but be patient troops.  The official release of these EP2 preview figures is not til NEXT saturday (16 march).  Hang in there just a little longer.

Trooper Jeff reports:

"Hi Troops

I have a few vintage Star Wars toys I would like to sell and wanted to see if anyone was interested. Here are the items with a brief description:

ROTJ Jawa MOC (77 back)- punched, card has some edge wear. Hangar tab has been torn but nicely repaired. Bubble is dent and ding free and has a very light tint ($45)

Tri logo Gamorrean guard MOC- punched, card is very nice, no creases. Bubble has light denting all around but is nice considering it's size-no cracks. Tiny area of price sticker damage in upper right corner($30)

POTF Sand skimmer mini rig MOC- unpunched, some light surface creases. Lower corners are creased. Bubble is only lightly yellowed. ($55)

Radio Controlled Jawa Sandcrawler- comes with C5/6 box POP has been cut out. Toy is complete and in nice condition. It works but takes some manipulation of the 9 volt battery snap to run properly (I think it's just a bad connection) All of the paperwork is also included-instructions, warranty, Kenner We Care card, $3 off 12 back stormtroopers and a cardboard insert. ($375)

if anyone is interested please email me and I can give more detailed descriptions. All figures come in Star Cases and I extend a money back guarantee of not satisfied. Thanks!"

"Hey troops, Trooper Dom reporting in from Hoth, Wisconsin. A big thanks goes out to trooper John from Mass. He clued me in on a Maserpiece 12" edition Aura Sing and book for only $19.99. I manage to save two others as well as two Maserpiece 12" edition C-3POs and books. The C-3PO has removable limbs and comes with a net that fit over my 14" Chewie perfectly. If your interested in trading for either the boxed Maserpiece 12" Aura Sing and/or the boxed Maserpiece 12" C-3PO, let me know. Or I can sell them for cost plus shipping. I'm looking for the 12" scout on speederbike, but I'll consider other trades. I also have K-3PO, R2-Q5, Collector's Fleet Electonic Rebel Blockade Runner (all mint), and a loose Obi-Wan spirit from the cinema scene pack. dsoll@execpc.com  PS - I saw dirty biker scouts, boomer damaged battle droids, general Leias, and sandtroopers at a local store for $8.99 each. Too rich for me, but I'll pick them up if somebody wants them."

"Anyone looking for the Obi-Wan/Darth Vader 25th Anniversary pak in New Orleans should get over to the TRU on Veterans. They had about ten of the on the shelves when I went by there Sunday along with a few of the repack Sebulbas, Saesee Tiins, Amidala Theed & Fode and Bede. Not much else to report. No signs of the Bo Shek wave on the shelves, but one Wal-Mart had some interesting price stickers on their POTJ hooks. It said Episode 2 figures and the pricepoint was $5.88!! Miracles do happen!!

Also, I was reading the report from Trooper Mike that the rep from the SW Fan Club wasn't sure if there would be any demand for the Toy Fair Vader. That is what this website is for! While you're reading this post, click on this e-mail (swfan@wizards.com) and MAKE demand for the figure. Let them know we want it and will buy it and they will get more of them. Bombard the website with e-mails and they will get the figure to shut everyone up! Unite!!!! That's all from Nawlins!"

THIS IS A GREAT IDEA EVERYBODY, LETS SHOW THEM HOW STRONG WE CAN BE IF WE ALL UNITE!!

Trooper Lex-wan reports:

TRU-bad, Mart-good

"That's right I used to like tru but after talking to management I feel like I'm talking to my kid brother who is in charge of all the toys, is tru becoming a target who plays god with the toys. Everyone knows that collector's spend just as much or more on collectable toys than parents do buying for their children, even when Hasbro started the POTJ line they stated on their web site they wanted to make their Star Wars toys quote "more collector friendly" that's one reason were seeing such intricate designs. Lets face compare a rebel fleet trooper with slide on a POTF2 card to a POTJ RFT need I say more. Anyway the TRU in Allentown PA sits on there merchandise and won't even go in the back to pull them out it (just like target) so if the manufacture wants to build their toys more collector friendly so they can attract more collectors to purchase them and increase their sales why dose the places that Hasbro supplies stop us from getting what we would like to obtain this my fellow sandtroopers it's ludicrous and Isay if you want to repair a problem you should goto the source Hasbro they listen when we ask them to build certain action figs they listen to us when we say make figs more realalistic Hasbro doesn't discriminate they will sell to you if your a child or collector or parent or teenager who ever. So I say lets take this to Hasbro and see what they say they may say nothing or they may say something I'm just saying it will not hurt anyone to try. So now that I'm done with the bad lets talk about the good I was at Wal-Mart on 3-2-02 in Reading PA and I finally saw the Leia deluxe w/cannon with a printed warning label opposed to the first release sticker label so I went to the cash register and couldn't believe that this was $2.50 so I went back and picked another up for an opener the reg figs were reg price $6.44 if anyone else has heard of this price drop LMK this was no boating accident this was real price drop May the force be with you."

Trooper YGL reports:

"Hey, folks. Young George Lucas reporting in from Kansas City. I went to the TR'U in Overland Park, Kansas this morning (through about 6 inches of snow) looking for the new AT-ST. They didn't have that, but they did, surprisingly, have the Zutton/Eeth Koth wave- so if you if you still need those you might check there. Also, my beef against some of those crooks on eBay continues... If you want to sell something- fine. If you feel the need to stretch the truth, spread rumors or outright LIE- you are, to be blunt, scum. I see all these dumb "pre-sells" for "Attack of the Clones" toys, and more than a few describe the items as "RARE" or go one to say that Hasbro is only producing 25% of what they did for "Episode I". This is a bunch of crap from a bunch of greedy little $&@*?#'s. Even IF Hasbro only made 25% of what was cranked out for "Episode I"- there would still be TONS AND TONS OF IT! There are cases of "Episode I" stuff still in cases at some stores, not including what's on the pegs- AND THAT WAS ALMOST THREE YEARS AGO! Don't fall for this pre-selling garbage. Every toy outlet will have this stuff! P.S.-Come April 23, if you want to buy stuff by the case at a great price (and avoid "Midnight Madness II") www.newforcecomics.com  is the place to go. I've been buying stuff from them for years and have nothing but praise for them. Their prices for new figures (purchased by the case) are cheaper than Target or Wal-Mart."

Trooper Orlando reports again:

"Hi fellow troops, Orlando form McAllen TX reporting; AT-ST w/ speeder bike came & went. The people at TRU all had different versions, one night I asked and I am told they don’t have them and that NOBODY has them, the next evening it showed up in their system (probably just arrived), called the next morning an a moron tells me it’s against their policy to hold items specially if they are “hot items”. Went by that same evening and the manager or assistant manager tells me they had them and one guy showed up and took them all (probably his buddy). I am very disappointed, then I headed to the mall next to it and I found two Aurra Sings Master piece sets. I could not believe it, so I drove 40 miles to get three more; total of 5 (babes) Aurra Sings. C3PO’s had to stay because of my wallet getting slim. I am going to offer these to troopers I have traded with before, and if I have any left will post it right here at Sandtroopers.com. Also, I bought a lot of figures for a really cheap price to customize, wanted to create a Naboo scene but to make a long story short, I received 4 swimming Jar Jars in perfect condition in that lot. I will only trade these swimmers for the VHTF Red R2 from Amidala’s ship, Amidala with ascension gun, Sio Bibble, and holo Darth Sidious. I also have an extra CT Motti that would like to trade for a CT Leia or a Captn. Piett. Make sure you check you Factory 2U, they had the Series Alpha #1 to #4, but it seems they only had two sets of each; I bought one to open and display and have an extra set to trade, so let me know if interested at oalejandro69@yahoo.com  so I can send you my trade list."

Hey Troops,

I've been trying some new things with the site...my apologies if you experienced some LONG load times yesterday.  Java takes forever to start...its since been scrapped.  Ive moved a bunch of stuff to the "back page" (old news) so if you missed a day or two, check that out.  I moved the sith channel to the front to feature the "original content" you may have been missing...  Let me know what you think.

My good friend Treg needs your help:

"Hello, fellow troopers! I wasn't one of the lucky ones who managed to get a pre-order in to the fan club website and missed out on the Toy Fair Vader. I will be getting an extra set of the Bo Shek wave and would gladly trade the whole wave for one of these figures. Anyone who can help, please let me know at ferd@fastband.com. Thanks for your help!"

Treg is a personal friend of mine and comes highly recommended as a trader.

Trooper Brian reports:
"While I am waiting on EP2 and the final wave of POTJ stuff to hit the shelves, I gotta get this off my chest. Has anybody looked at eBay lately? The Pre-sells for the Toy Fair Vader are proliferating madly! Some of these are being bid on for as much as $102.51!!! These people make me SICK!!!!! I really can't stand it when some jerk buys all of the same hard to find figures off the pegs in the store right in front of me(this has happened), and I REALLY can't stand these Pre-sell jerks! They are selling something they DON'T EVEN HAVE! And the worst part is that they knocked a true collector out of line for one on the fan club site at retail (what they SHOULD have to pay for one)! I'm tired of these people ruining our hobby! So if any of these people are reading my post: $@REW YOU!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh! That feels better! Just had to rant for a minute!"

Ahh the joys of Ebay...

Trooper Tim reports:

"Hey Troopers,

Going on the information that was posted 2.27.02 about the action figure archive book I decided to check out the Walden Books near my work. Couldn't find this book, nor the Aurra Sing collection, but on my way out I noticed the "From Star Wars to Indiana Jones" archive book had been reduced to $3.99. I snagged one and upon closer inspection of the label I noticed they mislabled this book along with the others. It normally goes for $22.95. There were about four left so if anyone wants me to pick one up......"

Action Figures Archive really cheap!

Hey Troops, I stopped by Walden Books and picked up the Action Figures Archive by Steve Sansweet for $3.99! This book normally sells for $30. Walden Books has decided to put it in the discount bin. My wife just bought me this for Christmas for the full price, so she isn't going to be too happy about it. There were only two left at the one in Okemos, MI. I bought them both. One is for a friend and already spoken for, but the other one is available to the first person who wants it. I'll sell it at cost or trade. I asked the guy if they were going to get more in and he said that there were more on order, but he couldn't be sure they would get them.

Troops, this is one of the best books on star wars collecting.  Lots of great pictures and little facts about both POTF2 (up to 1998) and vintage lines.  Its a STEAL for 3.99.  Every collector should have one!  ~V

New Trooper Rob reports:

"I have just recently been "hooked up" to the internet and it didn't take me long to find Sandtroopers.com. I am very new to the concept of buying, selling and trading over the internet, but websites like this on are encouraging. I like the attitude of "collectors helping other collectors" that I experienced when checking the needs/wants lists and throughout the rest of the site.

Having said this, I would like to help as well. I don't know how many "trooper" live in or around Southern Ontario, Canada, but there is a Hasbro Wholesale Outlet located in Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario that has a large quantity of BOBA FETT 300th figure (at $7.99 CAN) and the DELUXE DARTH MAUL (SHIRTLESS) and LUKE IN BACTA TANK (both at around $12.99 CAN I think).

As well, there is a local department store here in Stratford, Ontario that has a fair quantity of some figures such as the LUKE and HAN SOLO figures with the Millennium Falcon gun turrets as well as 2-packs featuring LEIA in different outfits. They have quite a lot of other stuff as well. If anyone nearby wants a list of what else is available in Stratford or needs directions to either store they can E-mail me (Rob) at melrob@cyg.net.

Also, in the spirit of Sandtroopers.com, if there is anyone not in the area that really wants these figures, I would be more than willing to purchase and ship them as long as I'm not "out of pocket". Now remember, I'm a novice at this so I might need a "walk thru" of the process. Anyway, those interested can contact me at the above address. Thanks for listening and happy collecting!!"

melrob@cyg.net

Rob, check out some of the links on the trade page...theres info on "trading etiquette" and dos and donts.  Welcome to the "family"

Trooper Jimsjedi Reports:

"Sandtroopers,

Jimsjedi here once again with a couple of things I would like to comment on. First, I am shocked with all of the e-mail I have got regarding the Star Wars mouse. Wow. I'm trying to reply to everyone, but I've been super busy lately preparing for our little jedi #2. My wife is due in about 2 weeks, so we've been trying to get everything ready and since we have a 2 year old now sometimes that's just not possible. But, again thanks to everyone. See ya!!!!!"

Trooper X reports:

"While shopping at a Local Target I saw a 25th Anniversary Han and Chewie, after close inspection I noticed someone had replaced the figures with two old figures and re-taped the box. This is the not the first time I've seen this. Think of others, what if that had been the last one and you need it? The other practice I hate is the "gentlemen" that show up first thing in the morning at your local store and swipe all the newest figures. I'm not against the true fans that get two one for display and one to keep. Just something to think about with the new releases coming out."

Trooper Jeff reports:

"Hi, my name is Jeff and I read Sandtroopers every time I get on line, and I just wanted to say, thank you. I think it's that you, guys and or ladies, have set up this forum for the benefit of Star Wars Fans to inform us about news regarding Star Wars. I say fans and not "collectors" be cause, I feel that collectors are the people that are making an investment. Fans love Star Wars and that's why we collect. I feel it's great to hear someone on the East Coast hooking-up someone out west with a figure he can't find. And then instead of scalping him because he has something someone wants but can't get locally. He says he'll send it to him at cost. Or, when someone let's us all know where there is a great deal.

I had been checking here, and Hasbro, and the SW Fan club Store twice every day for the Toy Fair Darth Vader and this weekend I was sick in bed and went about 40 hours without checking and (Murphy's Law) guess when that was. So I am asking everyone I can find or think of if they know of any reasonable way to get one or two"
