Operation - Make It Better:

  Wow, well I got home mowed the grass, fooled around with the dogs, and just got online.  I just got done watching the Sandcast, and when Spice read the names I almost forgot my old screenname, lol.  I just wanted to take a moment and say a few things.

  My parent (Mom) didnt make "alot" of money and if I got a SW figure back in the 80's I was very happy and proud.  My mom welcome my best friend (another ST forum member, not Gorko either) into her house, because he was in a worst situation with his family, then we were.  Even though we were "poor" we still gave and helped out to when it was needed.   I was raised that money isnt everything and you sure as hell can't take it with you, when you die.

 The last 5 years I have been giving to charitys, outside of Walmart, Malls, whatever.  When there is a charity present I empty out my pockets to them.  I don't need a someone to tell me why or what they are doing the charity for, I just give, and say have a great day.  Like right now technically I shouldnt be spending the money I have because I'm buying a house, but that didnt stop me giving money to Kids Against Drugs at our local Walmart today.

  Point is, Someone out there is really needing the support, that maybe their families cannot supply financially.  This money gives these people in need hope, a cure, and have a chance at life, than I'm all for it.  The effort and contribution, that this Staff and Members have done during Make It Better Event is....priceless.

Every third month of the quarter we accept donations and rotate them between one of our selected charities throughout the year, and hopefully we can do our part to help make a difference. Hey guys-

I would like to take a second and thank Chris Spice for acknowledging the past of thejawa and also my son, Christopher. For those who remember me from thejawa know, I started to lose interest in the hobby when my son was first diagnosed.  I really enjoyed the hobby and all the people involved. That was really my biggest regret. BUT- this was a fight that needed my full attention. Most people do not understand the impact pf type 1 diabetes and why we need to find a cure. It is much more complex than just not eating sugar or simply sticking a needle in one's arm. I am so thankful the "Make It Better" campaign is helping us get to that cure.

The past four years my family personally has had much success in Christopher's treatment. But Diabetes always has a way to rear its ugly head. Unfortunately, as Spice was making this announcement, we learned my daughter, Emily was also diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. This time she is actually younger than my son when he got it and because we have come far with his care, we are now back to square one.

But we are hopeful. Hopeful that one day, we can cure the 2 million kids that deal w/ this disease. And so thankful the Make It Better campaign is playing a part.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about another case of this showing in your daughter. I can't imagine how hard it is to deal with one child with a condition like this, and now you have to deal with another. It sounds like you're making due the best you can, and in reality that's all you can do.

Hopefully with a little help from some of the troopers here, we can help find a cure. It's too bad that more sites don't do many charity projects like we do.

I was pretty floored the other day when I got the news too. I guess our timing couldn't have been better as far as our bit of effort is concerned. It is nothing short of an honor to be able to reach out and try to add this factor into the websites and show people this hobby is so much more than collecting plastic action figures.

We've been working rather hard to keep theJawa.com moving forward and I do think the crew in place is doing a pretty good job of keeping things rolling along, as well as helping "mothership" break some news now and again too.

The community has grown leaps and bounds, as it seems like we've got quite a few new members with the great mix of seasoned vets who've come back to the community that will be forever united. We've even branched off into our own little Sunday School lesson too!   

I really have to say this past year since our aquisition of theJawa has been quite a whirlwind. Even though we really got off to a slow start, things are moving forward and I'm very impressed with the growth of the network. Overall, it's the work of the Make It Better campaign that I can honestly say I've felt the biggest impact personally. Giving back never felt so good and I really hope and encourage our members to take a crack at our Oola Attakus statue for what is less than a gallon of gas!    Thanks for stopping by Delvec, we encourage you to visit more often if you find the time! And hopefully it's around football season so I can remind you once again just how bad your Philadelphia Eagles suck!
