Studio Scale Y-Wing = problem
« on: February 16, 2008, 07:43:13 AM »
Do you have the Studio Scale Y-Wing? If so I was wondering something...
Does your Y-Wing now lean forward? Mine is. The Y-Wing is front heavy, MR did not center the weight on this item on the peg that holds it up on the base. I noticed yesterday after a friend called me up to ask me if my Y-Wing was leaning forward.
You can see the peg that holds it up coming off the base, there is about 1/16" gap where it is lifting from the base.

For now I just turned the Y-Wing around on the peg. Overtime the peg will break off from the base. :(

My Y-Wing was only displayed briefly and then packaged up for storage. Your news regarding the crappy base really sucks though. You think that MR would have done a better job designing the base.

Don't you have a Falcon too? I just recently purchased one which I have kept on display. I hope that we don't have similar problems.

Wow for 7-800 you think they'd have that little problem licked in production! IMO I think the studio scale stuff was the demise of the line. While it's nice, most collectors want them ALL and when every piece you make is over 500 bucks, GOOD luck! Really nice stuff and I'm interested to see how EFX handles things.

Yes I have the Y-Wing, M. Falcon, and Snowspeeder (custom base).

My Falcon base is fine so far.

My Snowspeeder is on a custom base I made since it did not come with a base or cover when I got it.

I guess there are lots of the Y-Wings that are starting to mess up on the base. That is a shame.
