Fred Clause
« on: November 13, 2007, 03:22:45 PM »
I was a little bored yesterday so took my two youngest boys to see Fred Clause.

The movies alright, very predicatable, an immature Vince Vaughn character finds his way into adulthood and along the way saves X-mas.
But if you love the Vince Vaughn banter then its worth seeing. Otherwise save your lunch money and see if on DVD.

I saw that movie the first time it was out, when it was called ELF. Well, okay, maybe not the same movie. But for my money when it comes to Christmas comedies, nothing will ever, EVER top Elf for funnies.

Of course, I may be biased by the fact that I would watch Elf for 10 hours a day from  Black Friday till Christmas when I was working retail. But that just made the time go so much faster.

Umm, 'A Christmas Story' and 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation' say 'Hi'.

Nothing against 'Elf' (I love his 4 food groups) but those other two movies have it all over 'Elf'.

You know, I always forget about that one. Not sure why because I own it and watch it every Christmas.

Umm, 'A Christmas Story' and 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation' say 'Hi'.

I didn't say those weren't great films. Christmas Story was my #1 fav until Elf came around. And I think you missed this part:

Of course, I may be biased by the fact that I would watch Elf for 10 hours a day from  Black Friday till Christmas when I was working retail. But that just made the time go so much faster.

Try watching a film non stop for that long, and you'll grow to hate it 99.9% of the time. I can't seem to sit through more than 2 - 3 viewings of the 24 hours of Christmas Story anymore. But Elf, I never got tired of. I would still laugh at everything.

Hey dont forget The Nightmare Before X-mas. Its no slouch either.

Again, not saying I don't love it. Hell, my NMBC Collection is almost as large as my SW collection, and I came this close to getting a Skellington tattoo a while back. But Elf still wins, in my book.

All very great movies I think. I can sit and watch them all myself, but then again I like comic christmax movies anyway.

Dang, you must be the king of 'Elf' quotes and trivia.

i like It's a Wonderful Life, black and white version

That is my wife's all-time favorite Christmas movie. We even have the big Hallmark Christmas ornament that sits front & center on our tree every year.
