I guess the best news is being the new Rancor keeper which has been begging for a redo for about 10 years!  Cheesy

Q: For the upcoming Sarlacc Pit battlepack, will the Skiff get a new deco given how far paint apps have come from PotF2 days? Could Hasbro also look at making the legs used to prop up the vehicle out of a transparent plastic rather than opaque, this way it would heighten the illusion of the skiff "floating" above the pit.  And finally, can you confirm for us that the beak is removable so that we purists who prefer to display the pit without the special edition alterations can also do so?

Q: will we ever see any more George Lucas figures?  It occurred to me that we really haven't been offered a modern super-articulated George Lucas figure yet!  Perhaps George as a Jedi, a clonetrooper, or removable helmet Biker Scout or Kashyyyk Trooper?

Q: Since one of the Rebel Technicians had to be dropped from the Yavin battlepack, what about putting him into a second Yavin battlepack then? Yavin is undoubtedly the best of the BPs Hasbro is offering, it would be fantastic
to have a second set with a second pilot and his astromech, plus other Yavin-based accessories such as the
long-desired X-Wing ladder or crow's nest (do NOT however put a PotJ-era Fleet Trooper in the BP if the nest is included, that mold is long obsolete). Or if no accessories, then what about the previously asked-about ceremony rebels kitbashed from the Yavin Honor Guard or the flight deck rebel with batons.

Q: I was very excited to see the Lars Homestead but like many many others on the forums, completely floored by the asking price of $50US. I want to buy this even at the high cost but will state outright that Hasbro's figure selection for this set was poor. Unlike some other collectors, I don't expect a new Owen sculpt since I know most of the budget went towards the homestead tooling, but it REALLY stings to get stuck with a PotF2 Owen which will immediately be tossed into the garbage, a Beru I already have and another TSC Sandtrooper. We know part of the $50 price goes towards forcing us to buy these repacks, even if it's only $10 or $15 of the total cost and it only makes the buying experience more negative to waste our money on these.

If repacks are necessary, please consider these 3 figures instead: removable helmet Sandtrooper (from the ANH tin), R2D2 (using the R4G9 mold) with weathering, and since the homestead is also Luke's home, it's okay to give us a TAC Luke but with another headsculpt (e.g. comic pack's Stormtrooper Luke). Please make this set more compelling for us to buy given the high cost. A few "new" figures can tip the scale and ensure that this "playset" is a better seller. At such a high price and during a recession, we need more ways to rationalize buying this item than just the igloo and womp rat (no matter how neat these are). The figures themselves also have to offer us something new, no matter how slight. Kids also would probably rather get a Luke and R2 and certainly collectors don't need either of the Owen/Beru molds that are being used here.

Q: since it looks like Hasbro will be packaging the 2007 TAC Luke with the upcoming Rancor, can you please use this opportunity to make some minor changes to this figure? The number one complaint is clearly the soft goods vest which was incomplete on the backside. If you look at the Jedi Luke you produced for the 2004 OTC line, he even has the missing backside of the vest sculpted in. Also, since this is before the Skiff battle, hopefully this Luke will not have the battle-damaged hand, but if you're unwilling to pay for the tooling of a new hand, then at least don't paint it red so that the sculpted damage is less noticeable.  Finally, what about including the soft goods cloak from the 2004 Luke, since he does have it right down until he is in the Rancor trap?   I'd actually buy the Rancor set to get an upgraded Luke if Hasbro can offer up more than just a straight repack of the prior Luke release.

Just thought I should also add this question out of concern over those legs. The AT-TE thread over at RScum is huge with reports of this problem.

Q: A large number of people are having problems with the legs on the AT-TE. This seems to be resulting in two reactions: return the toy to the store for a refund or exchange, and scaring off others (like me) who were interested in buying the toy but now will skip it due to the large number of complaints.  While a fix has been provided by one of the forum members in this thread:

http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=3173948&page=&view=&sb=5&o=&fpart=8&vc=1

...the hope is that Hasbro will fix this problem immediately before the XMas holiday shopping season. Collectors can be willing to put up with the frustration (to some degree) but the average parent is more likely to just return it than live with the problem or next time, avoid making such a large vehicle purchase from Hasbro out of quality concerns. Is Hasbro aware of how widespread these leg problems are being reported (basically on every SW toy forum I've skimmed) and will they fix this before XMas? My worry is that this design flaw will impact sales and Hasbro won't understand the actual reason for the lower sales and cancel any future "big" vehicle offerings.  And will Hasbro offer to send out a repair kit to those who have already bought the AT-TE?

EDIT: I added Lt. Starfox's suggestion to my question as well...

Some type of repair for the middle legs IS needed. I wonder if hasbro IS aware of these issues and IF they are, do they think they will fix them anytime soon.

My question:

The other day I came across the new Galactic Heroes Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter playset and noticed something odd. On the packaging it states that included in the set is a Battle Droid yet there is not one inside. Why?

Dear Hasbro,

It is painfully obvious now that the problems people are having with the AT-TE legs falling off are not isolated incidents.  Do you plan on doing anything about this?  Perhaps issue a recall, or issue parts that can keep these things from collapsing?  I'd like (and many readers would like) to know if you are working on a definitive response to this issue.

1: Any chance that the forthcoming SA eps2 Obi-Wan will have two heads (one with normal hair, another with the "wet hair" look from his outdoor Kamino scenes) that we can choose from?

He will be coming with just one head - with normal everyday hair. We usually don't include second heads with figures unless they are really niche and someone we'd be unlikely to do again; in the case of Obi-Wan it's a sure bet we'll get to a Kamino-specific version at some future time.

2: Even on the many rumor lists that I've seen online, there's been no hint of Hasbro giving us a new fully SA Princess Leia from ANH.  Given we still haven't gotten the definitive ANH Leia yet (though the VotC one is decent, but my vintage Kenner Leia still remains the best overall especially because of the great face sculpt) will she be coming soon?

No plans for now for an all-new EpIV Princess Leia, but your question got us to thinking.  It's interesting when you ask people about their favorites, as opinions are wide-ranging. Some here like the Vintage Leia for the overall look and articulation, while others prefer the face sculpt on the slave Leia as closest to the movie Leia, and others prefer the full soft goods on the Princess Leia Collection version.  Somewhere between the favorite aspects of those three figures lies a definitive EpIV version. We'll discuss further for future possibilities.

3: If Hasbro made a Torryn Farr figure, is there any chance she might come packed with a large set piece (similar to Torture Rack Han and Vaporator Luke). Obviously the hope would be for her to sit down at her Ion Cannon control station and issue out orders to fire the cannon.

One thing is for certain - if Torryn Farr were to be a basic carded figure, she would likely not come with much more than perhaps a stoll. Unfortunately, given the challenging nature of costing, big accessories just aren't in the plans for the basic figures.  There is a better chance if we get a chance to do a Hoth-inpsired Battle Pack, and Torryn is selected to be in it, and we are able to fit accessories in in addition to the figures the set would need to be successful.

A question I came up with that i'm sure alot of us will agree upon. (I Hope, dont kill me!)

Dear Hasbro

Let me just say, I am thrilled with all the upcoming releases! Those Comic Packs with the Amanin and Sunber were a real treat to see!
My question is, when will we see the Yuuzhan Vong? As one of the biggest species to impact the Star Wars universe, I'm sure they deserve the plastic treatment. Also, will we ever see any Vehicles from the Clone Wars game? The Fighter Tank, GAT, and the Maru would make excellent Vehicles and Beasts.

Many Thanks!

What's so wrong about wanting power converters?

« Reply #144 on: September 05, 2008, 08:01:14 PM »

y no questions this week?

Ask and you shall receive  Wink:

1) It is painfully obvious now that the problems people are having with the AT-TE legs falling off are not isolated incidents.  Do you plan on doing anything about this?  Perhaps issue a recall, or issue parts that can keep these things from collapsing?  I'd like (and many readers would like) to know if you are working on a definitive response to this issue.

We're glad you wrote us and help spread the word.  We have confirmed that some of the AT-TE's do have middle legs that breakaway more easily than intended (breakaway legs are a deliberate design feature of the vehicle). We have addressed this and we offer replacement middle legs through our Hasbro Customer Service Dept that should solve the issue. Consumer Affairs can be reached through our web site at hasbro.com.  We are sorry for any inconvenience. Our objective is to make sure that consumers are 100% satisfied with their AT-TE, so anyone who is having an issue, please contact us.

2) For the upcoming Sarlacc Pit battlepack, will the Skiff get a new deco given how far paint apps have come from PotF2 days? Could Hasbro also look at making the legs used to prop up the vehicle out of a transparent plastic rather than opaque, this way it would heighten the illusion of the skiff "floating" above the pit.  And finally, can you confirm for us that the beak is removable so that we purists who prefer to display the pit without the special edition alterations can also do so?

We can confirm that the Skiff will sport a new, more updated paint job, but we kept the legs the same color since they are in a shared tool with many of the other parts.  Running the tool a second time to get clear legs was not an option, unfortunately.  Also, we can confirm that the beak is removable.  Purists rejoice!

3) Will we ever see any more George Lucas figures?  It occurred to me that we really haven't been offered a modern super-articulated George Lucas figure yet!  Perhaps George as a Jedi, a clonetrooper, or removable helmet Biker Scout or Kashyyyk Trooper?

Well, we are sort of laying low with tributes to George, because we have to be careful to make the requests only for very specific occasions and to keep such tributes special.  We don't have another in the works right now, but that could always change if we come up with a great idea and Lucasfilm agrees.
