I don't understand some people just bc it has an error or variation does not mean i'm gonna pay big $$ for it.

I hate when they put "variation". It's a friggin paint error!!!  Big deal, so my question is why get rid of it?  You found something unique, unless this guy thinks he's getting some ridiculous price for it.

Well one thing's for sure, the guy that sold it must have danced and cheered when that auction ended.  The guy bought it for
10-20 bucks and then sells it for $400.  Maybe toy stores should go through the cases looking for errors and then selling them on ebay themselves.

People need to stop calling those variations, at least the guy switched back and forth with the terms but he still called it a variation.  A variation is when the actual figure gets changed, such as paint jobs, the two arc troopers for example, stupid people...That is pretty weird though, I was quite  :o when I saw it.  Good find!

^^^^ If its Russian (and vintage, that means it would be from the cold war era !!) Why is the writing in english ?? I have no doubt that its a bootleg, but I dont think its from Russia and the cold war era. But I could be wrong.

I need people's opinion on something. I was looking for Red Royal Guards last night on Ebay just to see what they were going for since I would like a few more. I stumbled across an auction that had only been up for about eight minutes. This auction had a Red and Blue Guard listed as "Buy It Now" for only $0.99.

I did a double take, thought about it for a few minutes, and then tought what the heck. I figured the worst that would happen was that the seller would tell me that this was a mistake and that I would be a nice guy about it and say that's OK. So, I bid. Now the seller is being nice and is actually going to sell me these figures for $0.99 even though he made a mistake.

My question: Should I stick it to this guy (who may be a scalper) or be a nice guy and say that I'm not going to take the figures?  ???

You're saying this guy had both the red & blue Royal Guards for sale at a BIN of $0.99!?  Something doesn't sound right about that.  I can understand starting an auction at that price, but not it being BIN for that.  What's the guy's feedback look like?  Care to share the link to the auction?

Maybe he swapped the figures out with the old TPM Blue Guard, and POTF Red Guards. I would ask some questions, and make sure he doesn't make up for it withj S&H cost.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5977198019&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

The guy just made a mistake and put the figures up for Buy It Now at $0.99 instead of starting the bidding at $0.99. He stated that in an email to me but gave me no hassle. He is perfectly willing to sell me both figures for this price and is charging me less than $4.00 for shipping. He seems like a nice enough guy that is why I feel bad about screwing him for a simple mistake.

I checked out the guy's feedback. He doesn't seem like a big time scalper. I sent him (actually her) and email stating that I wasn't going to penalize her for a mistake. If I bought the figures for $0.99, I would just feel like I stole them.

First post on the site. I wanted to start off by saying you guys have tons of info and it's always appreciated. I noticed this on ebay today and didn't know if anybody else had seen any of these "sleeve variants". It's certainly different than the one I have or what I've seen.

I don't know, his sleeve is pointed up, I don't see how that could just be the way he was packaged, perhaps it's an error?

I can't believe how hard this guy is to get, Hasbro had better re-release the OTC line after ROTS so we can fill gaps!

There's no other way of putting this... TOTAL bulls**t!   >:(

that is freakin crazy, I only saw one of these and thought I would find more later...never saw it again....they will show up at KB or somewhere else a year from now !

^^^^^ I've seen Kebco sell no less than 5 of these guys on ebay... I have the feeling that this guy will be the FF Weequay of the modern POTC line. I've seen the POTC Jawas go for $25.00 as well !!
We are a extreme fighting force of extraordinary magnitude !!!

I never saw a POTC Sandtrooper at retail. I purchased a couple from amazon last December, but they sold out in no time. Over a period of a week or two, the figures were in stock a few times. They would last for a few hours and then sell out. If memory serves me correctly, they sold out one time while I was in the process of ordering them.

The evolution pack Sandtrooper looks like a better figure to me though. From pictures, it looks like his sculpt is based on the VOTC Stormtrooper. He should be pretty nice.

It might be for a loose figure, but I wanted the OTC Sandtrooper to complete my carded collection.

Ok I won an OTC Greedo on ebay and when it arrived the bubble was crunched on the bottom. It clearly states MOC and in fine condition, and was pack great and had no damage to the outer carton, do you think I'm over reacting?

I don't think you're over-reacting.  You should send that guy an email stating the fact that you're upset with it.  If he doesn't help you leave at a minimum neutral feedback.  Has he left you feedback yet?

I smell a forgery, and even if not, NEVER worth that kind of money.  Maybe if Natalie Portman signed it and then used it to get to happy land, maybe then, but probably not even still!

She's cute but not $200.00 cute.
Maybe we should start a new thread.

Simple head-swap, what some mistake for a custom.  Many of have done this in our early stages, but once we learn the ways of the Force, head-swapping becomes amateur.  However, for some reason, these things sell BIG on Ebay...can't figure it out.

Actually this one isn't a head swap.  It's an SA clone wearing Bacara's accessories.  So, this one is even more amatuer than a head swap.

You have to remember that there are a lot of dumb people out there with a lot of money.  I doubt it's actually worth what it sold for.

Without the Star Cases, they're not worth nearly as much, and even at full worth they're not worth $280!  Moron.

I agree....I HATE this figure...they chose probably the worst sculpt of a figure to do this with just to have an "exclusive" hey more power to em...if there is a sucker willing to pay $100 for a turd, I say let em. I am considering selling mine since I dont like the figure anyway and if someone is willing to pay $100 for it they can sure have it, I guess I can't say I blame these ebayers, as long as someone is dumb enough to shell out that kind of $ people are going to take advantage....damn scalpers!

I need to go on a rant here:

I'm getting tired of seeing all these crappy customs for sale on ebay.  A lot of them are just simple repaints, change the red to blue and you've made $30.  (not referring to the figs in the auction in my last post, those are actually well done)  You shouldn't be able to make money if you're a moron with a paintbrush.  And some custom ideas are just really dumb.  I've seen vintage Barc Troopers (are you kidding?!), pink stormtroopers, and a lot of poorly constructed or sculpted figures.  Some are just god awful...  I'm really getting sick of this garbage.   :flamingmad:

That's exactly my point.  People think they can get away with high prices just because it's a custom figure.  It isn't really that hard to slop some paint on an old toy.

Though Ewok is right where too many crappy customs are fetching a high price, people actually pay that.  As for the 5 501st troopers, they look good, but not $250 good, and that baby Maul is just plain creepy...sick bastards!

I truly believe this is the next big scam on EBAY, people charging these exhorborant shipping cost to cover the item cost plus shipping, guaranteed to get their money back!  You can send that fedex next day guarantee for cheaper than that!  F'n crooks!

ok, I don't like when people word their auctions like this!!

"Vintage Star Wars Vinyl Case Star World and Space Case"

The auction says that they were a knock off of Star Wars cases. Well, if they are not Star Wars, I don't think that the title of the Auction should mention it!!

From what I can read, the offer was for the first four saga figures...

That's a really nice bust.  But there had better be at least 16 ounces of high quality gold plating on that thing.

That is a cool bust. Not sure if I would pay 2K for it. That guy is going to get a nice sum of money with this one. That is if he decides to sell it if no one matches the reserve price. 2K would help pay off my credit cards. lol

Which further goes to show you...

1. Money does buy happiness
2. There will always be someone who is willing to pay enormous amounts of money for things
3. There really IS a sucker born every minute
4. It really is possible to have more money than you know what to do with.

These are the same people who spent over $5k on an Xbox 360 on release date.

So, for all of those people who are looking to blow some of that excess cash, I'll sell you my family's plot of land on Jupiter for next to nothing!

I came across this, as I'm sure many of you have as well.  Before anyone thinks about it, this does NOT qualify for the contest I am running, as it is for charity, and I will not tarnish it's intended target.  I wish I had all kinds of money to spend on something like this!  For charity?  No problem!

Alright, I know this is probably going to sound stupid, but I'm not into the legos. Anyways, why in the hell do these things cost so much??? I know plastic can be expensive, but how does the lego AT-AT cost more than an electronic Millenium Falcon, or something along that line.

As far as those sets go, I can probably pick those up at the local Wally World still, and I do agree that the seller needs a few holes in the head.

The LEGO AT-AT is expensive because it has an assload of LEGO pieces (can't remember the actual number though).  It's also pretty damn big for a LEGO set, and it has the name of Star Wars on it.

No, this guy claims it is a "custom variant."  Who does he think he is, Hasbro?  We don't even like buying their "variants," much less some other guys crap.  The figure itself isn't the worst Cody I've seen, but nowhere near worth what this guy is asking.

Thanks guys. I am extremely excited about this set. The few times I have seen them on Ebay, they sold for prices out of my affordability. When I seen this one, I figured I wouldnt have a shot, but decided to take a chance, and boy am I glad I did. I ran a search through ebay, and only found 1 other one, and the dude wanted a 100 bucks for it. Forgive me for asking, as I hadnt started collecting yet, but is this set somewhat rare, or difficult to find? I cant seem to understand how Vader and Maul could be worth 100 bucks, although this is ebay we are talking about.

Ask Nick about these.  If it is an all aluminum droid, it may be worth it, especially if it really works (as far as cost of production and time go at least), but if not, then it's just another Ebay ripoff.  Now, I'm sure Nick will point you all in the right direction if anyone is interested in buiding their own droid, as Nick is, and not spend an arm and a leg to do it!

Tell Nick to point me in the right direction. I have checked out various boards for R2 builders but it still seemed hard to find all the parts needed to put one together, its something I have wanted to do for a long time.

one of the only reasons this r2 might valued at this $10,000 is because there were only so many made.  he say there were only 2 made but i believe it was actually 8-10.  The only electronics on it are the lights on the dome.  It isn,t remote control, there,s no sound, none of the doors open, and i don,t believe the dome even spins at all.  It's a nice static r2, but for 10,000 you could a astomech with a lot of bells and wristle.  I have only spent about $250 on my static droid.

First off, Tamer, you HAVE to get this AT-AT!  If you have never seen a junkpile sculpture up close, they are, in my opinion, worth every dime.  These things look awesome, and that AT-AT is no exception.

As for that armor...Chris, I think you need to go to that dude's house and bitch-slap him for being retarded.  Even I could tell what the problem was with the helmet when I looked at it.  He called the outfit a "real show stopper."  What show was this, Morons on Parade?

Pat & Tamer, I bought a junkpile sculpture of a Battle Droid from this guy more than three years ago, and I have to say that it is one of the coolest pieces of Star Wars collectibles in my collection.  I'll have to take a picture of it for you, but I can say that it's worth every single penny that it cost me.

That is ridiculous!!!  This may sound silly, but where in God's green Earth does someone find so many?  This person either orders cases or completely wipes out an entire city's worth or Targets, TRUs, Wal-Marts, etc.

yeah tru.com does have them for 89.99 which is a good price. right now I wouldn't trust tru.com if my life depended on it. especially with the luck I have been having with them and their choice for a shipper.

I will just wait til it hits the stores. I have a feeling it will be similar to what happened with the CW gunship mad rush at first and then the stores will have bunches of them. I was just at a TRU last weekend where they had at least 10 CW gunships left and probably more in the back from what I heard.

I know it's highly unlikely they will drop the price before the end of next year, but if they go down to $30 grab me one! They're all sold out at mine.

The thing with high shipping costs is that's how some sellers get by the ebaty fees. You only get charged fees for what it seels for, not shipping. So sellers charge hugely outrageous shipping charges and hope to pay low eBay fees.

And anyone who would pay those prices is nuts! I always check shipping costs before I bid

Look at this you can't tell me there's not a demand for a Pablo-Jill repack! Or Coleman Trebor for that matter!

we had heaps of these flowing around back then and going at clearance prices. Wish i picked up a few spares for the trades box...

$1700 for a vintage Vader figure case prototype. Just think if the seller was established, I am sure a few proto hunters stayed away from a new seller. Makes me wonder what I could get for some of mine

i seen these prices for these 2 clones in the AFA suit and thats pathetic in my eyes because i bought the covert ops from ebay and mines like super mint without a glass case and i know for sure that i guess mine would bring that then and i dont even have it in a glass case lol.
