I'm a little confused about what color to paint the hair. In some shots in the show it looks maroon, almost purple, but in other spots looked brown. The koto kit's hair looks pretty brown. I went with brown for now, but may change it.

I pressed another clone head into the Fixit while it was curing to give it a little bit of a hair texture. I need to let the paint dry and then put some sealer on the new doo, and dremel out the helmet a little more. It's a tight fit now and I'm sure will scrape the paint off Undecided - next time I'll mix the paint right into the Fixit.

I set up my light tent this evening to take better pictures of my new Commander Gree for ebay, and figured I would share them here.

The light tent (and a little photoshop help) makes a huge difference in the photo quality.

If you look at what these guys are going for normally ($150 - $160) this guy got a steal at $141. I really hoped it would bring in more money, but what can you do? The bright side is that I had a guy contact me to ask if he could send me his Red ARC maquette for a paint job so we'll see where that goes.

Apologies to Clint Eastwood and Sergio Leone for borrowing the title of their film... but I actually watched it (twice!!) this past week, and thought it was a good title for this update  Tongue

Nothing too special, really, just a few Mando figures I made up with some silly names. I have a few more but they are still WIP status...

I always loved Croc Master back in the 80's line of Joes, and I was really disappointed with the figure that Hasbro released. So I decided to do something about it...

The harness is from the Tusken Raider with the Massiff beast, and it fit around the croc perfectly. It's made with real chain, and looks a LOT better than the crappy plastic that Hasbro included with that crappy baby croc.

Holy s**t DC that is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better the hasbro version. Wow, I really like this figure now. When I FIRST seen this figure that hasbro makes I was like, nah I'll pass but damn if hasbro made a version like this I'd buy it. That is very very awesome work here DC. Very much props to the KING of custom my friend.

The figure or the croc itself?

The figure is just the 25th Hasbro version repainted.

The croc is from Target, where they sell all of those plastic animals, in the educational aisle. The harness is from the Tusken Raider w/Massiff beast and fit around the croc pretty damn well.

Keeping with my GI Joe theme...

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I was psyched to hear that Wraith was being created by Hasbro. And I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I was pretty disappointed with the end result. So I took it upon myself to once again correct and improve upon the things that Hasbro did wrong. And there were quite a few...

1) First thing I did was clip off those annoying wires. You can't move the arms practically at all with them attached.

2) Second thing I did was disassemble the armor. With the way that it was created, the figure couldn't move his arms... maybe they figured that with the wires there, you couldn't move them anyway. But I wanted movement. I cut the armor into 4 pieces - chest, back and 2 shoulders. I also thinned it out a little bit, as the Hasbro version was pretty thick in places. I discarded the remaining original pieces, the part that connected everything and the huge collar piece. I created a strap system that connects everything together. The armor is no longer removable, but I don't think that's a big deal. The new system allows him to move his arms - either one at a time, or both - without the chest armor riding up. The chest and the back plates are both glued to the torso, and the straps run underneath to hold the shoulder plates in place. The shoulder plates are NOT glued the arms in any place, thus allowing them to move up and down and allow arm movement.

3) Next I did a little something different with his head. I'm not a fan of the Tony Stark face underneath, and who's going to display the figure with the face showing, anyway? I also didn't like the way the face plate hung, it sat a little too low IMO so I glued it on a little higher up. Repainted it in two different silver colors and repainted the eyes.

4) I repainted the entire armor plating and the upper torso. I used two different metallic silvers - Tamiya Metallic Grey for the torso and Citadel Mithril Silver for the armor.

5) My favorite version of Wraith is by far the Michael Turner image. So I really wanted to add that blade that he drew on there. I created that with some styrene sheet, and attached it to the gun placement turned backwards and trimmed down.

Questions/comments/complaints/etc. are always welcome.

I'm so out of touch with GI Joe, but Croc Master is one I remember from when my brother and I were kids. He's got all the Joes, I kept the cool figures (namely the SW figures  Tongue)

Just kiddin' of course  Wink GI Joe figs were far more advanced than Kenner's figures back then and the fact that Hasbro's current line deviates only slightly in from that 80s line proves the concept back then is one to stay.

Croc Master looks nasty and downright badass. At first glance I thought you repainted his pet, but replacing it with another croc turned out perfect. Those plastic animals sure come in handy and it's in scale as well. Hmmm, care to venture into the world of Sonny Crockett  Cool ?

Now, I know Croc Master (and others from back in the day), but Wraith is totally unknown to me. Still, your custom looks wicked, despite the abscence of wires. I have a piece of rubbery wire that was attached to a clothing label once. Used it for "tubing" on a particular fan fic RC and it worked wonders. Maybe you could add that?

That silvery outfit is pretty nifty. I love working with Citadel's metal colours Boltgun Metal, Chainmail and Mythril Silver. Used it on a one time attempt at painting a Necron miniature model.

Do you have pics of the original Croc and Wraith figures you made upgraded figures from?

Only thing I'd fix when making custom Joe figures is plugging up those two screws in their thighs  Grin

You outdid yourself....you made an already awesome figure even better.   Good job!

(The backdrop is from the Matrix figures, right?)
