Star Wars 3D?!
« on: May 15, 2006, 07:00:37 PM »
Yep that's right! Rick McCullam (Star Wars producer.) is quoted as saying they are now working on making the original trilogy into 3D movies to released in 2007 in theatres. George Lucas confirmed this and said what their waiting on is to get all the theatres get all the equipment to use  it.
I heard this from Attack of the Show on G4. It sound legit to me, but why George? Aren't you rich enough? I think he's trying to drive Star Wars into an early grave.

I disagree. George is giving all of us die hards the chance to see the original on the big screen again. And not only that, now we can feel as if we are a part of the movie itself. Who hasn't wanted and wished they could feel like they are actually in the movie?
I love 3-D and I can't think of any other movie that deserves it more.

If your dsaying I think this is bad idea your dead wrong! I've been waiting for this and thinking they should do this! I'm just saying that it will probably just be die hard fans who go to this and it won't make much money, so he won't want to do anything as cool as this again. That was what I was trying to say. I will defintly get in line for this and not want to miss seeing this on big screen since I did the first time around. But like I said I hope George makes some things for evereyone so he can keep cranking out the good stuff for the fans!

I'm not a big fan of 3D, in general, either....but for Star Wars...and assuming GL will use the "good" 3D glasses (the kind that fit over your entire face...even if you're wearing glasses), this might get good.

Does anybody else have a feeling this might end up being an IMAX thing only?

Now I see what you were saying. I agree. However I think you will see the response be extremely positive.
The die hards, absolutely. The rest may not see them as often as I will but the lines will be long.

I think this could be interesting, to me any excuse to see it again on the big screen is worthwhile.

Does anybody else have a feeling this might end up being an IMAX thing only?

Speaking of IMAX and a little off topic..did anyone see Episode II in IMAX?  I was going to and missed it before I got a chance to make it there.  Also was Ep 3 released in it as well?
Now the important thing is I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time.

I'd love to see that Jedi fight scene in Ep. II in the arena with all those Jedi and the Battle Droids.  That could be really cool to see in 3-D.  I'd also love to see the Death Star explode in 3-D.  Now THAT would be a very big explosion!!

I am looking forward to seeing how the whole 3D thing will go down. I am wondering if they are going to need special theaters for this or just use regular ones. I have heard that there are special 3D theaters around the country and if it is to be played in one of those than 90% may be SOL to see it. Just my thought on that one.

Their waiting for enough theatres to have the right equipment before they release it so I think it will be an all over thing.

I read that EMPIRE STRIKES BACK will be coming out in 2007 in 3D. Looks like that might be the one and only version of the movies in 3D.
