So Far The Ten Best Figures of 2005
« on: September 28, 2005, 12:28:11 AM »
Hi.  How's it going guys.  I was just wondering what you currently feel are the best ten figures out there.

Here is my list.
1.  Tomy R2-D2 (I know this isn't even made by Hasbro but this toy is awesome.  The first ever remote controlled 3 3/4" scale figure.  Hasbro should have thought of it first.)
2.  Celebration III Vader (Come on.  This figure has all new lines from James Earl Jones.  It also helps that I met James Earl Jones)
3.  Evo Vader (Best Vader ever, so far.)
4.  Evo AOTC Anakin (Finally a neutral stance Anakin from AOTC and with either the robot arm or normal arm.)
5.  Commander Bacara  (He looks cool and the scene where Ki-Adi dies is a very good scene)
6.  Burning Up Anakin (I always wanted Hasbro to make figures like this.  I hope they come out with more figures similiar to this.)
7.  Tarkin (I've wanted a new sculpt for this figure for a long time.  Now, if they could only repaint the figure to make him look like he does in ANH.)
8.  500th Vader (well, since Hasbro claims it is a figure I am not going to argue.  Under normal circumstances I would consider it a deluxe figure and put it on the list but given that Hasbro is giving the number 500 to this figure I will consider it a normal figurel.  So, for a normal figure it has one heck of an accessory.)
9.  Black Clone Pilot (It just looks awesome.)
10.  The Royal Guards (The soft goods on those figures is really nice.)

*please not that I'm not judging a figure by articulation, I think that's silly, I'm judging by the appearance and how good of a figure it is, also know that I keep my figures sealed so you might think different.*

#10: Commander Gree (A personal favorite of mine and I'm happy Hasbro made him.)
#9: AT-TE Tank Gunner (Removable helmet and accesories make this the complete trooper.)
#8: C-3PO (The best Threepio figure to date.)
#7: Tarkin (One of the best looking figures out there, Tarkin's don't fall from the sky either.)
#6: Darth Vader (I think this will be one of the best figures to have in the long run.)
#5: Anakin Skywalker on Mustafar (Wicked figure, one of Hasbro's best ever.)
#4: Count Dooku (Out of any figure I've seen from Hasbro this has the greatest likeness to the actor.)
#3: Operating table Darth Vader (This figure is often overlooked and will be a classic.)
#2: Obi-Wan Pilot (People love this figure and I don't blame them, best Obi-Wan figure yet.)
#1: 500th Vader (Beautiful to look at but also if you open hm up, he is surprisingly an amazing figure.)

Through and Through I think Hasbro has released some of the best yet this year. Best I've seen in my generation. I wasn't around in the vintage days so this has been great for me to be able to experience that and get figures that will one day be vintage figres as well!

Operating Table is also very awesome.  My diefinite third favorite of this year.  I was kind of trying to avoid posting any deluxes as my favorite figure, of course listing CIII Vader, Tomy R2, and 500 Vader makes me kind of a hypocrite I guess.

1. Clone Commander
2. Clone Tank Gunner
3. SA Clone #41
4. Commander Bacara
5. Tarkin
6. Vader
7. Obi Wan Pilot Gear
8. Commander Gree
9. Commander Bly
10. Holographic Emporer

This is not neccesarily in order of importance to me....I would say I have about 15top figures since I focus on the Clones/Imperial Figures.

For what it is worth:

10.Clone Pilot (as I have written elsewhere, he actually looks much better out of the box)
9. Aayla Secura (though once I see the holo, it may make it up here as well)
8. Jet-Pack Clone
7. AT-TE Gunner
6. General Grievous (not preview or deluxe, the other one, I forget the #)
5. Shocktrooper (would be higher if he was #41)
4. SA Trooper
3. Clone Commander (Red)
2. Mustafar R2D2
1. AT-RT Driver

I have not included Black pilot, Gree and Bly because I have not seen them in person yet.  Also, not to flame, but I really would like to know why everyone likes the Obi-Wan Pilot so much.  I looked at him and passed.  I have the AOTC Obi-Wan Pilot, who I like much better.  I do not like the sculpted cape, I did not like the psionic (?) headband, and he did not look really different enough from the E2 or E3 sculpts.  Is he SA?  Do you like the face sculpt better?  Do you like the cape (with no sleeve openings??)?  Just really curious why he keeps showing up on everyone's list; I just don't get it.

I agree about the Royal Guards. Count Dooku is still a pretty sweet figure though.

Standard figures only, considering all points (articulation, aesthetics)...this is based only on figures I have....

Honorable mention: the 501st Legion troopers in the Jedi Temple Assault Battlepack...nice to have...but would have been better with the SA body.

10. Black Clone Pilot
9.  Commander Bacara
8.  Mustafar Sentry
7.  C-3PO
6.  Mustafar Anakin
5.  Vader's Medical Droid
4.  Blue Royal Guard
3.  Obi-Wan Red Leader Pilot
2.  Evolutions Vader
1.  AT-RT Driver
