I think we have all waited on this for almost 30 years since the end credits of ROTJ?
I fear that Disney will make collecting a little harder with more exclusives? only at Theme Parks?
Bring on the Star Wars Theme Park now too. WHY NOT!!
I can't wait to see where the story goes next.

So episode 7.... Wow!  I wonder if we are talking Luke, Han, and Leia?  Or their kids? Or what ever?  Huh.... Let the speculation begin!

With the PT I read every spoiler I could find ahead of the movies and it kind of ruined parts of them for me.   So for this next one I will do my very best to not read spoilers in order to be surprised and hopefully capture that feeling I had as a child watching for the first time.
Is it time to go home yet?

I'm an OT fan, I grew up with it, and PT was a disappointment for me in most cases. Not sure what to think about the Disney future of Star Wars. Hope it will be ok, but even if it goes belly up, I still have my OT.

I think Episode VII will be a buddy comedy focusing on Lando and Nien Nunb. Think "Dude, Where's My Car?" except in space and stretched out over 3 movies.

i think this is a great move-

there was too much expectation with the PT
certain things HAD to happen- its a open canvas with Lucas getting the pens....and someone else doing the artwork (and the dialog)

Its been milked dry so in order to churn out and make back that 5 Billion, Disney wont mess it up.....of course this is the same company that gave us Hanna Montana and the Suite Life

UGH! Is all I can say. I feel that Lucas should have done a Charles Schulz and taken it to the grave. I guess Disney did good with Marvel so I will have fingers and toes crossed.

I'm not so sure it spells doom for EU fans.  Why couldn't you enjoy 3 more Star Wars movies if they're made and NOT continue to enjoy the Zahn books?

Not meaning that the EU fans will not enjoy the new movies. Just saying that there are very loyal EU fans out there that (believe it or not) prefer the EU stories to the prequal trilogy and the CW TV show.

Alot of peoples first exposure to Star Wars WAS the EU.

The EU following is a growing entity that continues to dominate the SW Universe. Think about it. We've only had 6 movies and 5 seasons of the CW. Compared to numerous novels, comics, video games, etc.
The EU is what brought Star Wars back from the dead with the Thrawn Trilogy and the DH comic series "Dark Empire"

The EU market even dominates the toy line with it's EU figures. Everybody wants the EU figures but not the regular figures.

The EU fans may feel negleted when the new movies come out. They already get upset when the CW over-writes the EU.

I enjoy all Star Wars and agree that some of the comics and novels would make good movies.  I wouldn't even mind of some of them were animated instead of live action.  I think for me it is going to be more important not to read all the rumors and spoilers for the upcoming films.  That way I can enjoy them and be surprised accordingly.  Although it wouldn't surprise me if there were Star Wars theme movies that weren't influenced by the main OT charachters or their blood lines.

For me I say bring on the spoilers!!  I can't wait!  But when the time comes and spoilers trickle out, we'll start a spoiler thread, so that those who do not want to read spoilers can avoid it.

Some interesting read about the new Disney Star Wars movies :

http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/11/2/luke-skywalker-to-be-primary-focus-of-new-star-wars-trilogy.html

Awesome link, but don't read if you hate potential spoilers, I like spoilers, so no problem for me.

I will believe it when I see or hear more at a later date. Thats funny if Disney buys out Hasbro. Why not Disney just hire somebody else to make all their toys. or be nice to get rid of the zombies at hasbro top end.

Okay troops Yakface has had this link to a season 16 episode of southpark for a couple of days now.  It is the funniest episode of southpark I've seen in a long time!  It has to do with Obamas re-election (funny wether you vote for the guy with the  little D or the little R behind his name) and alot to do with disneys purchase of starwars.

http://www.southparkstudios.com/full-episodes/s16e14-obama-wins

Frickin Hilarious!!!  Funniest starwars episode of southpark ever!  Don't watch it with young kids due to language.... You've been warned.... get ready to laugh your butt off!

Bad new for EU fans!
http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-talk/star-wars-returns-rumor-roundup-221654367.html

This should put all the Movie cannon/EU cannon meshing together a rest.
And it explains the different levels of cannon as well.

Interesting that hamill was supposed to play Luke 18 years later in 2004 on  a different plane of existence. Obviously that never happened.  But maybe in this new trilogy or the one after it, rumored to focus on the skywalker kids.

whatever happens, I hope the new movies do not totally run roughshod over the established EU

it doesn't have to be a book or comic or whatever already written, but I do hope that whatever happens in the new movies at least acknowledges the existence of what we've all been reading and watching for the last 20 years

I hope they at the very least they keep Mara Luke's wife and all the established eu kids at least have the same names.
