I've been waiting and waiting and waiting to see this, ever since I heard that Sam Raimi was returning to direct another horror film. I'm sure it won't measure up to Evil Dead - I mean, what can, really - but I am definitely going to be first in line to see this one.

That's my feelings on it as well. Going into this, we might as well block out evil dead, and pretend it didn't exist.

Nah, I let her keep it, not sure if she did, but I know I didn't take it with me when I left.

My first fiance's mom always kept in touch with my mom, hell their friends still.

She kept up telling my mom for years that we'd get back together, funny, I wanted nothing to do with her anymore.

Solution: watch it in rewind.  ;)

On topic, it looks like I'm the only one who's not excited about this movie.  The trailer and TV spots left me unimpressed, but Raimi at the helm could be...hopeful.  Maybe after it comes out, if I hear good things, I might check it out.  Until then...meh.

OMG.

Run, don't walk.... RUN to the theater and watch this film. It was really, really, REALLY GOOD. Excellent. Fantastic. Best horror film I've seen since... I don't remember the last good one I saw. But THIS is now 'the last good horror film that I watched'.

Couldn't give it a higher recommendation. And if you know anything about me, know this: I pretty much hate just about anything that gets produced in hollywood any more. But THIS?? THIS is a fantastic film. I wouldn't say that it scared me, but the story and the acting and the pace and the effects and everything about this film was just fantastic.

I didn't like it quite as much as some others did, but it was actually far better than I initially suspected.  The people I saw it with were kinda...clueless.  I kept saying, "It's Sam Raimi, so yeah," but they're apparently unfamiliar with his style.  Only after the movie did they realize that I was trying to say it was sort of horror-comedy.  On that note, it succeeded on both fronts.  It didn't really scare me (but then, not much really does), but the humor was great.  Much like My Bloody Valentine, the over-the-top-ness worked to its advantage.

Scary and funny, but I just didn't like the ending. To be honest it depressed me a little too much after having laughed through most of the rest of the movie.

I thought I would end up hating it!! But it was pretty good. Horror films should never have a happy ending.

Oh the irony!

I have one thing to say... Where is Evil Dead 4? Bruce is ready... And so am I!

If their funny horror films then a serious ending just doesn't work though, that's the only reason I didn't like this movie.

Yeah I can see your point. But I didn't find it funny like Evil Dead. There were some nods to ED in some of the effects but to me it was serious. Maybe a second watching will unveil the funny.

Sam Raimi is a big fan of the Three Stooges... Go figure!

No, I think that was it... just a few nods to ED and the comedy there. I don't think this movie was supposed to be a horror-comedy like ED was. I thought the ending worked for the film personally, and I loved it from start to finish!

I finally caught this on Showtime last night and I enjoyed it thoroughly.  I could defintiely see the Raimi aspect of some of the camera shots and angles like from the ED trilogy.   Loved the scene digging up the grave and the ending was classic.

I went out to see if they had these on bluray, ouch $25 for Evil dead, kinda pricy for an old movie, esp when some blueray oldies are only $5
