March on Pawtucket:
« on: October 01, 2012, 11:37:14 AM »
As revealed via the Curto Burns Podcast this morning, our full intention of what we plan to do about Hasbro's lack of effort to get distribution "right" as they stated at Celebration VI.  If you are a fan who has a Stormtrooper costume or any other "Trooper" for that matter, I'm asking if you'll join me May 4, 2013 in Pawtucket, RI to protest what's being done to the toys that set the standard for action figures.

I'm sick of seeing Episode I and now it appears they've shipped LOADS of cases of the lost line to cover their ass but sadly all the waves in between were missed.  What about the Mandalorian Transport?  It's our hobby too, and the countdown is on for them to "get it right" and if they don't, let's all meet up for a good old fashioned sit-in!  8) >:D

One of our finest has been scouting our location from across the pond, and we're working on restaurants, lodging and maybe even camping for what could be a historic weekend.

There will come a time when your training ends. There will come a day when you have learned all the lessons, when all my knowledge of the dark side will be yours. On that day you will challenge me for the title of Master, and only one of us will survive the encounter.

I think we'll be accepting anyone who shares our vision and agrees their distribution has sucked so bad for years, SOMETHING needs to be done.

Well, I do agree. But I may just be coming back from San Fran around that time, so it depends on that

I'm not talking about doing anything illegal or get anyone arrested.  I'm just looking to do an old fashioned sit-in, and maybe have a great weekend with fellow collectors!  Whether you like this website, hate it and me, IF you collect Star Wars figures you have to agree with what we're doing.  Therefore I'd even ask the I hate Chris Spice club to join us as well! I really need to reinterate that this isn't a joke or a stunt.

I strongly feel like it's time we showed them strength in numbers and let them know in person that it's not alright. When you say things you have to back it up with action. They say they'll get it right, I'm not seeing any indicators of that on the pegs in my area, and I cover a lot of ground in IL and WI.

Let's see, about $250 for a plane ticket.  Wow that about as much as I would have spent on Hasbro fig's if I found them over the past 2 years.
I've basically given up on Hasbro.  After living in 2 different states in the past 2 years and not finding a DAMN thing in that time frame.  So now I have to go to eBay, or other online sources and over pay.  Kinda takes the fun of the hunt out of it.
So let's make it better, last wave will be online only and you have to buy a set of 12 for the 3 figures you really want or hope that someone wants to split the case.  Maybe you can get lucky and by them individually.

Thanks Hasbro, what a great job you guys have done.

Spice you are right, is it fair that collectors like us, that in most cases have been buying Star Wars figures since we were kids, then got our kids into it get treated like this.

The sick thing is that living near Pawtucket RI - the headquarters of Hasbro and all retailers in the area have crap on the pegs.. It is pathetic. I would come down there in a heartbeat and do a sit in. I am pissed as a collector that Hasbro can move away from its core action figure line and pollute the pegs with Beyblades and other crap.

I wish another company would pick up the slack and give us an affordable army builder..  Toys De Force... now is your time Brother!!!

Why we’re marching on Pawtucket, RI:

Collectors have been dropping at an alarming rate since 2007, we understand it’s a lot to do with the economy but much of it is frustrated collectors simply giving up to put their money into the higher cost of living. Or in many cases the collector is using that money they used to spend on action figures and directing the funds towards high-end collectibles from companies like Sideshow Collectibles, Gentle Giant and Kotobukiya if they can still afford to stay in the game.

There is much to be said about the direction they’ve taken the line.  Whether it’s making the Vintage Collection go away, or the glut of unwanted product that is in each and every toy aisle across the country, it is easy to see Hasbro could be doing a much better job. Why wouldn’t they cut the Movie Hero line before the Vintage Collection?  As great as the intention of Movie Heroes are, the fact is they clog up the pegs and prevent new waves from flowing into retail every 4-8 weeks as it should. In fact some would argue Hasbro is putting more effort into the Fighter Pods line than the basic 3 ¾ assortment!

They said at Celebration VI they were going to “get it right” and since we’ve only seen the 2012 Episode I figures replaced with cases of “Lost Line” figures here and there. There’s not a doubt in my mind the line has taken a tumble since they switched over to the Darth Maul packaging. Are we going to wait for it to go away again?  Will a time come when retail no longer chooses to carry exclusives but the entire line altogether? Part of the enjoyment for a collector is FINDING the new figure at the store. That little bit of excitement you used to get as a kid when you ran into the toy aisle. That feeling has been few and far between for most of us during our toy hunt the past several years, and this is why we need to step up and hold them to it. Get it right Hasbro, we deserve better and at the end of the day are only wish is to buy your products.

There's no doubt that the lack of hasblo effort has almost destroyed the collecting market here in Cedar Rapids Iowa.
The three wallys I went to yesterday have condensed their SW toys to a three foot section. I haven't seen anything less than a six foot section for years and the shelves have been barren for over three months. Target still has a six foot section but all they did was spread out what remaining product they have so each peg has only 2-4 items on each one. TRU has an entire section devoted to SW but the product is displayed the same as Target. Two or three pieces on each peg and only one or two of the boxed items sitting on the shelves.
hasblo has done an unbelievable disservice to collectors as well as the kids. The sit-in is on and the blo-boys had better take notice. If I can swing it I will be there.
Light side, dark side, light side, dark side, light side, dark side. So many choices, so little time.

Just wonder how the Execs feel about it? Are they upset collectors want to protest (how dare they??? We give them everything they ask for??? SIC) or are they upset that their chain of production to distribution has failed to get product out there?? Wonder how these empty suits see the world... If I know there was money to be made and customers out there - I would do everything possible to fill that void before the well dries up.

Look at the JOE line failure - since they effed and shipped their movie toys out there - they really screwed the pooch.. now no figures from the Joe lines are on the pegs.. and that is a license that should run itself - Hasblo owns that one... WTF!

and to think that the big corporations want to run the country now too

I refuse to pay anything more than retail price for figures/vehicles/anything that should be on the pegs right now
as a result, I have a few holes in my collection

long gone are the days of looking at several of the same figure to find the best paint job
nowadays if you don't buy it when you first see it, chances are you wont see it again unless it's CW Anakin or Obi Wan or some TVC figure that is packed in 4 consecutive waves

if I could afford the time off and the trip I'd be right there with you in RI
Hoam skool Dropowt

I've been told by someone pretty up in the 501st that involving the Legion with a million dollar partner of the 501st that it'd probably be best we didn't ask costumers to participate.  This really ruins the "shock and awe" effect but maybe we just show up in jeans and t-shirts? It'd be more comforatable for sure!

I have to disagree with the "pretty up" dudes of the 501st. The non 501 costumers and every day purchasers out number the 501st. members by a huge, huge, huge number. The more people who attend the sit-in/rally the better the effect might be on hasblo. Plus how can 20 or 30 official members have as prominent effect as 50, 100 or more people in a wide variety of costumes? A mass march creates a mass effect.

It's also important to remember the effect this event could have on the blo company from a public relations stand point. The more protesters that are present the more likely it is that the media will get involved. If the media starts reporting the inadequacies of hasblos distribution and how unhappy the consumer is at this time...well, you do the math. The last thing blo inc. wants is to be portrayed as a "consumer unfriendly" company.

I say, COME ONE COME ALL. Free speach is our right and we need to make our point known as loudly as possible.
