Sabers
« on: April 08, 2005, 05:49:11 PM »
EP3 is coming, here is first prototype of the kiddies Lightsaber for the movie, this is a Luke Obi type saber. What do you think? I tried to come up with a design that looks good and that the kids couldnt blind people with but that still lights up. I also didnt want to spend too much time or money. its a 2 dollar flashlight with a 50 cent pvc fitting apoxyed to the top, the fitting has holes drilled in it to let the light thro. the brass top is a knob off a old drawer.

Here is the Anakinesk prototype version. the top shaft is another pvc fitting with a piece of plastic glued to it to give that hooded shaft effect. I couldnt stop this one from being blinding if pointed directly at someone so i took a small wad of seran wrap and packed it in the top shaft, the effect is better then i could have hoped for, it glows wonderfully in the dark but does not leave the saber so these two versions are theatre and children friendly, no blinding people and can wave them around all they want in a darkened movie. I am going to rebuild them both now taking alittle more time on paint and part prep.

NEAT! I love it when people create their own sabers. I like the added light.

Stay tuned for there full Anakin based jedi outfits~ if you notice the Obi-wan type saber is now silver ontop and gold in the middle...my son brought this up to me half way thro the first prototype.."Dad Obis saber is silver on top"....DOh. I then finished it in silver and made the beam blue..."Dad i wanted a Green Saber........"

Very cool, now I know what I'm doing with that damn knob!  ;)
There will come a time when your training ends. There will come a day when you have learned all the lessons, when all my knowledge of the dark side will be yours. On that day you will challenge me for the title of Master, and only one of us will survive the encounter.

Might seem obivious but i found a fast way to obtain the color light for individual taste.sharpy the actual light bulb..however waite for it to dry to put the power to it, had one pop on me lmao. And sharpys come in just about ever color these days. Simply paint the bulb with the marker let dry 5 mins boom done.
