Ebay's new feedback policy
« on: May 19, 2008, 02:03:23 PM »
I went on ebay today to leave feedback for someone I purchased a few things from, and I got a pop-up message that stated that sellers can no longer leave negative or neutral feedback for buyers... wow. What is ebay thinking? This just opens up a whole new set of problems with people running around bidding on items for amounts way higher than they want to, and then just backing away without paying. And the sellers can't do a damn thing about it. Makes me want to stop selling on ebay, on the rare occasions that I do.

I saw that this morning too! So now, ALL the power is in the hands of the sellers. EBAY is just begging another company to take over the market. There's way too many scuzzy sellers out there for them to do this! You still have the ability to "rate" the transaction, but still. Big mistake if you ask me, which they obviously didn't.

If anything, it should have gone the other way around.

makes me want to re-think where I sell my collection. the thing is though a buyer can still leave negative feedback so the seller will be screwed. I do like how they allow for credit to multiple people now on your feedback ranking. I had a lot of repeat buyers over the yrs and had nothing really to show of it. One good thing out of all the changes.

This is some s**t that'd have me not wanting to do any business on Ebay. They should be putting the clamps down on people out there screwing people, and instead they've found a way to accomadate them. I used to write Force of the Bay not to encourage people to use Ebay but just to look and enjoy it but maybe it's high time to take a bigger stand, scrap it and find some other form of content!

Wow, haven't been to ebay in a short while and this is what happens.  Here I was thinking about selling off some of my stuff on there just to get rid of it since stuff I'm ridding of is pretty common.  I guess I'll have to re-think that :-\

I had a bad buyer the other day who didn't pay and I was forced to leave a possitve feedback but that didn't stop me from writing what I wanted in the comments section.

Well, the only other option is to not leave any feedback at all. I'd rather not leave any than leave a positive for a buyer that was a problem.

The new policy is BS. If you have any nutrals the count against you. I had two and it lowered my 100% rating to 98.8%. A little harsh for someone with over 700 feedback. I had a bad buyer the other day who didn't pay and I was forced to leave a possitve feedback but that didn't stop me from writing what I wanted in the comments section.

Doesnt neutral mean not good or bad by definition so it definatly should not count as bad

yeah, usually.  But this is Ebay we're talking about here.  Sounds like they're really trying to screw themselves.
