If it's not a figure, what is it?
« on: May 09, 2004, 10:31:00 AM »
For me it by far would have to be a Master Replicas product. While very expensive, I think these are a awesome addition to anyones collection. While many are impressed by the many figures that adorn my collection, it is the Luke Skywalker ROTJ saber that grabs attention. I have a hard time keeping up with the 3 3/4 line, and unless I want divorce papers I have to keep the Master Replicas purchase to a minimum. What do the Troops like to score? IF it can not be a figure!  :)

I would have to say if it's not a figure it could be so many different things.  One thing that I've started collecting are comic books (trade paper backs).  I never thought I would ever get into comic books.  But, my best friend had just bought the Jango Fett comic book, I read it, and was blown away at the drawings and storyline of it.  That was my first comic book, and now a year later I have nine trade paper backs.  I chose trade paper backs versus the regular comic books, mainly because they don't have advertisements in them and they will hold up better.

I guess I would have to say I collect the dioramas I build. (some I sell) I really do'nt have anything Star Wars outside of the figures and Ships, and a few autographs. I'm happy!

I did start a collection of RougeJediPrincess Star Wars Candy, now I just need her to make me the second set. ;) She's awesome at that candy making. :o

Do staff members of Sandtroopers.com get any kind of a discount on these by chance?   ;D

I use to be heavy into the cusotm figures and diorama building. But with the new life I started I just do not have lots of time for such things. Though I still make things here and there. I do want to get back into the customizing soon.

I have many comic books from the past four or five years now. Really enjoyable. I use to get lots of my inspiration for customizing from these.

But if I had to pick something besides figures...
I would have to go with the comic books.

What's up with this "new life" you're talking about here?  Better job bringing in more money or something?   8)

Yeah I started a new job as a Graphics Production Leader at a Real Estate Advertising Company here in town. I am working many more hours with some travel but but pay and benifits are good so it evens out.

My new life as I call it is starting to bring in more money for my collecting though it leaves me with less free time.

Well, congratulation on the new gig then.  It's always great to bring in more money for the toys.  You just have to prioritize spending time with your collection, so don't start neglecting it.   ;)

I have a few other hobbies as well, so in a way I'm glad that Hasbro issued so many repacks. ;) I also do WWII re-enacting and if you think this hobbie is expensive, you have no idea what expensive is. ;) But back to SW stuff I'd like to get the MR rebel blaster, and RFT helmet, and a do a custom Y-wing helmet also.
We are a extreme fighting force of extraordinary magnitude !!!

I forgot to add my love of chasing down SW celebs and getting their John Hancock on my minty-mint cards! I'm closing in on 40, and with C3 that should easily surpass 75 by then! I hope they add people that were not at C2. If they do, make sure they bring in enough new blood!

That's exactly what I did with my Anakin lightsaber.  I think it was initially $139 but I bought it when it went down to $89.  I think it was well worth that dollar amount.  I want to either get the Darth Vader or Mace Windu FX lightsabers next, but I'm steering away from the Luke FX saber.  I heard there were a few problems with that saber, so I'm not going to dump $$$ into something that's been very problematic.

I love to find really obscure items.......like sealed boxes of vintage ROTJ Pepperidge Farms cookies, bedding......and other stranger oddities.  I think the oddest item I have is a sealed pair of vintage little kids sock/house shoes....... I had some similiar to them when I was a kid....so having a sealed pair is sweet!

You like collecting odd items, huh Brian?  Well, I'm somewhat in the same boat as you but not entirely by choice.  My dad will buy anything that says Star Wars on it, as long as the price is within reason.  He's gotten me band-aids, party favors, Valentine's Day cards, and all sorts of other crap that I wouldn't normally buy myself.

Same here man, I've got a big plastic tub filled with oddities like that.....usually you can find the stuff for cheap on clearance...so I figure why not ;)

I've even got some EP1 or 2 underwear stashed....lol

Chewie and Vader are but Boba is vanilla flovored. I can make them in many different flovors using candy melts.

There are quite a few out there. Most are bootlegs but that's cool too. Some are all one character like yoda lollypops. Others are similar to the ones I have just different groupings of characters. The one I really want has an Ewok besides the other characters.
