I'm going to see Kid Rock in a week and a half with General J, LOOKING forward to it!
There will come a time when your training ends. There will come a day when you have learned all the lessons, when all my knowledge of the dark side will be yours. On that day you will challenge me for the title of Master, and only one of us will survive the encounter.

Some friends of mine want to go to most of the 80's shows this summer. So far we are talking about going to see Poison, Tesla, and Extreme. I think Extreme is only playing a show in Boston, but I am not sure yet.

Kid Rock puts on one Hell of a show!  Too bad Joe C ain't wif us anymore...I saw him play before Metallica, and it was awesome.  If I get a chance to check out Everclear, Foo Fighters, or The Offspring this year, that'd be sweet, but so far no rumors of them playing yet...

WELL let me tell you the Kid was completely kick ass and he put on another great show! HE did mess up once and to tell you the truth looked a little "rough" to say the least. You would hope he could learn from some of his idols and cut back on some of the hard living!  :(   :-\

I would like to see Jimmy Buffet again. I haven't seen him since I left OH when I used to go to Cincy to see him. I would also like to see Cypress Hill, but I don't think they are going to be anywhere this summer. I know that they were part of Vodoo (sp) days last year down in Orleans. I haven't heard if they are going to do this again since the city is still healing from Katrina.

Went and saw Nine Inch Nails last Friday. They put on another nice show. They had a great music selection which included Terrible Lie, Closer, Into the Void, Hurt, Down in it, Head Like a Hole, Only, and The Hand That Feeds. Thier light shows are incredible. I havent seen a band do a better one than them yet.

The opening bands were Peaches and Bauhaus. Which in my weak ass opinion, sucked.

Here's a couple of pics I found from the show:

That 3 pic--Trent-Silo---is very cool looking.  When I saw them it was still light out.  It was a festival of some kind, maybe Lollapalooza or XFest in Indy.  So I didn't get the light show.

Looks like you had a great time there Fence :partyon:

If you got a MY Space account AJ put up some video that he took from the show. Its in the NIN section there.
(We snuck in a camera)

Next stop will be The Raconteurs show Friday night at the Wiltern.

For me it was Kid Rock last Sat Night at the Riv in Milwaukee which resulted in puking down the side of the J-mans Jeep! Sorry dood!  :-\  HOWEVER it was a great time, what I remeber of it and I got free Ted Nugent tickets (I didn't use) and Billy Idol tickets for up there next week! I still ain't sure if I'm recovered enough to go hang with Billy!  >:D

I forgot to posts this last week.
But AJ and I went and saw THe Raconteurs the friday before last.
The show had its moments. The highlight was when the did Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy".
If you got a My Space account, AJ uploaded footage of them doing that song.

Which one you going to Mom? Looks like you have a couple options w/ Kettering being the closest to C town. But I did see a Colo show during the State Fair that is always a plus. One of these days I will be back in Ohio during State Fair time and show the wookie cub was a State Fair is in the midwest.

Changing the topic completley check out a 80's glam band free for all. Click on the days in the top left corner to check what bands are playing. My brother really wants me to go with him to this, but I think I will pass. I used to like more than have of the bands on the list, but only with the original line up.

Last nights show was fun. I am probably not a good judge for most of the bands, cause I dont care for them. But here's my weak opinion on who I saw.

Silver Sun Pick-ups:
Ok at best. Kind of garage bandish, but that might have been from the poor
sound equipment provided by the venue. I'd like to see what becomes of them in a couple of years.

Shiny Toy Guns:
Ok.Not really my kind of band. I like 80's new wave, I just dont like it being remade unless its by the originators like Depeche Mode or the Cure.

Sum 41.
Ok They had thier moments of fun, I find them pop-ish for an alleged punk band.
But the Derek, thier lead singer keeps things entertaining.

Bravery:
See my comments on Shiny Toys Guns.

Queens of the Stone Age:
They blended the new and old, which was fine. Its a shame the new album wasnt released yet (not til Tueday), cause then we would have been more familiar with it. I would have been nice to know the words to one of the chorsuses other than "Everyone knows you dance like you f**k, you dance like f**k, ou dance like you f**k...) Overall they Rocked. And our favorite band of the night.

Chris Cornell:
He still plays the hits as good as ever. The Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog songs were great, the Audio Slave material was sang great, but Tom Morello's sound was greatly missed. However, the new stuff just wasnt jiving. I know he got a cover of Micheal Jackson's "Billy Jean" but didnt use it on last nights play list. Overall he did very good, he started off strong but ended weak. And no encore. Come on Chris you can do better than that.

It's funny, because I've loved everything that Chris has done (Soundgarden, TOTD, Audioslave, solo) studio-wise, but the guy just can't sing live. Everytime I've seen him play, with any of those bands (never saw TOTD live but I've seen the rest) he sucked. I keep saying I'll give him another chance, but how many times can I waste money on tickets to a concert that I know is gonna suck before I go?

I dont know?
To me he sounded great. He hit the notes where it counted, so thats
all that mattered.
His presence is great at first, but as the show goes on, there is nothing more to see.

See, now I think that's kinda lame. You're not performing a show as Soundgarden. I understand you were in the band for it's entire existence and all that, but don't open a show with a song from a band you don't play in anymore. I've never seen Ozzy open one of his shows with a Sabbath song. And I've seen Ozzy more than a dozen times. Yeah, he plays some songs during the set, which is cool. But don't open with one.

Sheesh.

Wow Ozzie!
What a great example. This is a guy who can't even sell out a free concert (ozzfest).

I don't think Ozzy is the reason that all the tickets aren't gone... it's the rest of the lineup. I've only ever gone to 1 Ozzfest, because I'm too old to spend an entire day out in the sun with all those kids, but I went last year, later in the evening, just to see Iron Maiden. And that entire place was sold out.

my younger brothers were in town from arizona celebrating Labor Day and while we were drinking Saturday night they get a call from a friend that says Incubus is playing in Austin Monday night and wanted know if they wanted to go.  My bro's were heading back to AZ on Sunday so they couldn't make the show and asked if I wanted tickets.  I say hell yeah!  so they give my number to Incubus and low and behold, a guy named Sean calls from Incubus on my cell and says he'll have 2 tickets for me waiting at will call.  holy s**t!

I ended up working late, so my son left and took a girl with him, instead of me, so I missed the show, but my son said it was the best concert he's seen all summer.  The show has been sold out for months, so he was really excited when I told him we got tickets for the show.

I just got off of the phone with Sean and he wanted to know if we enjoyed the show.  Really cool guy, set me up, and called back to see if we had fun, how cool is that?!?  8)

The next time they roll thru Austin, I am going

Figured it might be time to take out the old jumper cables and reboot this thread 2008 style. Anyone have any concert plans for this summer?

For me, I though about hitting the Police tour again when they make another run through the US. They're doing a smaller tour and hitting alot of smaller venues PLUS Elvis Costello is opening for them. One of them is the Tweeter Center here in MA which is about 25-30 minutes from my place. Unfortunately I went online back when tickets went onsale and was floored by the prices. $225 for the lower bowl, $125 for reserved and $75 for lawn seats :o

Not much else has been announced around here. I might try and score some Jimmy Buffet tickets as a birthday present for my wife. She digs him and has been to a few of his shows in the past. Unfortunately these tickets, for whatever reason sell like hotcakes, so we'll have to see.

Most of the bands I go to see don't play in very large venues... but I really don't have any plans to hit up and concerts this summer, big or small. I'm really getting to the age where I can't stand being in the crowds  :-\

I agree, so far the summmer is looking weak.
At least the boys in Chicago have Lalapalooza to look forward to. Rumor has it that Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails will be playing there this year.

Right now the only thing I have lined up is seeing Tom Morello aka The Nightwatchman in Hollywierd in a couple of weeks.

Check this out.

I bought some tix to see Tom Morello at the Troubador in W. Hollywood a couple of weeks ago. By last weekend it turns to this benefit concert.

So instead of seeing Tom do his folk rock, we got a jam session better than Live Aid. We basically got to see Slash, Perry Ferrell, Pete Yorn, Flea, Dave Navarro, Steve Vai, Travis Barker, Stuart Copeland, Jerry Cantrel, Davey Havok,Cyprus Hill and Robot Chicken's Brecken Myer for a mere 10 bucks.

My son AJ was right next to the stage and was able to get some pretty good shots. Below are some of his pics.

Half and half.

Copeland played with the house band and did Message in a bottle.
Perry Ferrel did a couple his songs by himself, and did "Mountain" with flea, Navarro, and Travis Barker.

Pete Yorn, Slash, Vai, Morello and Copeland did Neil Young's Keep on Rocking In the Free World.

Perry Ferrel, Slash, Vai, Barker, Morello, Flea did Stevie Wonders "Superstition" and Rihanna's "Umbrella".

Cyprus Hill did all of thier hits accompanied by Slash, Vai, Morello, and Travis Barker.

Davey Havok did the Cult's Firewoman.

I'm leaving out alot but I think you go the idea.

Keep rocking that air Gee-tar Cowboy.

I booked dos mas concerts this week.

In May we'll be seeing Camp Freddy in Hollwood. This band features Mark McGrath, Dave Navarro, and Mike Sorum of VR. This one should also be for of jam session time show, I am hoping we'll see some more surprise guests.

At the end of June we'll be seeing STP at the Hollywood Bowl.

Hmmm, didn't hear of that group. Do they have any cd's or will they have one? Or is it just like a jam band type of thing?

You're the same age as I am and you didn't dig DD back in Jr. High/High School?

Did they not allow you kids in NJ to listen anything other than Springsteen or Jovi back then?

Ugh.

In my Jr. High/High School days (1982/3 - 1986/7) it was nothing but Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, KISS, Metallica, Anthrax, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and many many other amazing groups.

I'd have to say I'm sorta in the same boat as DC on this one guys. The only way I was listening to Duran Duran is if it happend to come across the radio while in a mad attempt to get some ass off whatever lucky lady "Kid Devastation" was with that afternoon!  8)   :P

Well you should em at least once before they start do something cheesey like open a theatre and appear nightly in Reno or Laughlin, or Indian Casino no one has even heard of.

A little bit off topic, but Paul Stanley was on the local news this morning. He's in town this weekend for an exhibit of his artwork at a local gallery.

That guy really needs an intervention. Waaaaay too much plastic surgery. You can barely tell he's a guy anymore. ???

Oh man if Paul Stanleys art work DIDN'T cost so much I'd have a pic and then go to the Kiss concert on top of that. But at 2g and UP for the art work and big ticket price for the shows. OUCH! is all I can say. Would be cool to meet him though.

No, I didn't get the chance. Wife works on weekends and the last place I'm taking my two rugrats is an art gallery.

I did go to a show of John Lennon artwork at the same gallery years ago. I love alot of his art and it was great to see all of his little doodles up close. The prices there were skyhigh as well but I did end up buying a ltd. edition print for about $250

Bon Jovi concert rocked last night. Man, do they know how to put on a good show. It's definitely geared for the chicks more than for the guys though, as they are playing alot of softies. That being said though, they played all of their 80's hair band stuff, which is what I came to see. They performed for 2 1/2 hours straight, without no breaks. Bad news was that, thanks to atlanta's traffic, we missed nearly all of Daughtry's set, which I was a little suprised by - he's actually pretty cool. His music is edgier than I would have ever given credit to a former american idol contestant.

The bonus was his encore; he played Rufus Wainrights' song Hallelujah (from shrek). That's one of michelle's and I's favorite songs of all time.

And we had fantastic seats. lower level, 17 rows up from the floor, about 40 feet away from Richie S. I owe a big thanks to mom-in-law for helping "make a memory".

Yeah Richie better play his gigs before he goes to jail! DON'T tell my wife you got them Tix Boz!!! She and a friend seen Bon Jovi at Soldier Field. I haven't seen him since 89? I recall that concert barely! Truth be told, if you are single and go to  a Bon Jovi show can can't pull a chic... I dunno man! Ducks in a barrel anyone? I went to the Camp freddy show last night in Hollywood.
As stated earlier in the thread, its a Jam Session type show.
We at the front of the stage so we had a great view the whole time.
The performers included:
Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Matt Sorum (G &R), Duff McKagan (G & R), Slash, Dave Navarro, Tommy Lee, Chester Bennigton (Linkin Park), Steve Jones and Paul Cook  (Sex Pistols), and Jerry Cantrel (Alice & Chains).

On the way out I walked past Ron Jeremy who hanging out on the
sidewalk. In between conversations he was took time to pose for pics.
I was not so bold.

Four really great concerts are heading my way.
The BOSTON reunion tour stops by The Great Jones County Fair.
Cinderella, Warrant and Night Ranger will all be playing at the Iowa State Fair.
Rock and Roll Baby!!!!!!

WOW! Those are some great bands there. I'd pay to see boston, cinderella & night ranger. You can keep kyp winger. I hadn't heard that Cindy was back together again touring. I'm going to check their schedule now.

Aj and I went and saw STP at the Hollywood Bowl last night.  I gotta say that the show was just okay. I know I've been spoiled of late with some of the show we've gone to, but being toward the back sucked for this one. The music wasnt loud enough, and the felt they weren't play and fast enough. Most of the crowd just stood there, because there wasnt enough rock to gechya rolling. I know theses songs can be played harder, because Velvet Revolver played Sex Type Thing, Crackerman, and Dead & Bloated, and they rocked them out.

Not really music, but I'm sure some will be in there.  'Cheech & Chong: Light Up America' comedy tour has been announced and will start in Philly on Sep 12th.

When i went to that rascal flatts concert, i was waiting with my sister to try to get rascal flatt's autograph cause they are her favorite band and 3 cubs players walked out. I was so excited!!!  I met and got pictures with Mark DeRosa, Mike Fontenot, and Ryan Theriot.  It was even cooler cause i was wearing my " you can't quiet the-riot" t-shirt so he was fascantated by it cause he hadn't seen one before and he was showing me off the the girls tehy were all with. It was so cool. The picture will soon be put under my profile for anyone who wants to see it.

I havent. But I think they'd be alot of fun. Over here they've played a few small show in Hollywood, I might have gone, but who goes to concerts by themselves?

After my NIN trek in early September. In late Sept we'll be seeing the Hives and Eagles of Death Metal at The Mayan in Hollywood.

Did back to back NIN shows Friday and Saturday Night. My son AJ and I did a road trip up to Oakland and saw them play at the Oracle. He and I had pit tix throuh the fan club so we were allowed to go in early and got a decent view of the stage. It was pretty crazy in the beginning. There was alot of pushing & shoving, ass & elbows, beer, sweat and boobies, etc but once you got used to the uncleanliness, it was alright. The show itself was awesome as always. Reznor never disappoints.

Night two We headed back down to So Cal to see them play in Ingle-Watts. For this one I got seats with the wifey. AJ took his best friend and were back in the pitt. The seats I got were up close and off to the side we missed out on some of the visuals. But had a great view of the band. The played the same set but added one extra song, but that was still cool. Its not every concert you get to see a man rock out with a Xylophone, let alone twice in row. :partyon:

I saw The Raconteurs on Tuesday Night.
I really shouldnt complain I got in for free, but I just saw little effort, and
the show only lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes which included the curtain break. So they played an hour tops.  ::)  And Jack White is supposed to be the next "Guitar God" I dont see it. This was like my 3rd time seeing him play, and he plays well.  But the greats play longer sets and seize the spot light. I cant tell if he's just trying to be a team player in this band or if he's just lazy?

Last night I saw The Eagles of Death Metal and The Hives last night.
EODM are just fun to watch. Its like silly songs of the 70's type rock show but its great. Josh Homme (Lead sing of Queens of the Stoneage) was there playing drums and doing back-up vocals. I'm a big fan of his work, so its was nice seeing him play and have a good time with it. We were right at the rail, so we had as good a view as you can get. Maybe too good. Tammy got a kiss blown to her from the lead singer  :-*
The Hives were pretty good. Very hard working/energetic band. Tammy and I left our spot at the rail and met up with some of my friends for a couple drinks at the bar, and watched the rest of the show from the 2nd level away from Tweens and the sweaty Swedes in white tuxedos(the band).
It was a great night. I recommend both bands.

Hey, cool topic, me being a concert going wacko since the mid 90s and all!

Last night I went to a Volbeat concert (Danish metal band). Pre show was from a pathetic German band. But the second act was STUCK MOJO! OMFG, they were the true headliners of that night! Last time I saw 'em was way back in '95, with Life of Agony. Wow, wow, wow, what a performance. And my buddy was actually invited to come up on stage with these guys!

I'll post pics tonight when I get home  8)

Here ya go. I've added the Stuck Mojo pics to my Picasa concerts album. Check out my buddy on stage too  :partyon:

Pics were taken with my trusty Canon Powershot A75, but next time I'll try and sneak in my Olympus E-410 DSLR cam. Some venues have a much more relaxed attitude towards cameras. Then again, every single mobile phone has a better cam than my Powershot  ::)

A little late to this post.

The wife and I usually try and make it to at least one concert every summer. There's a really nice outdoor venue about a half hour or so away from where we live. Unfortunately between her school/work schedule and the crappy economy, we didn't make it to one this year.

Anyone ever see the Presidents of the USA?  they are coming to Austin next month and we may go see them.

So did you end up going to this show Dave? I dig the POTUSA but have not had the chance to see them live yet.

PUSA are great! I saw them this year after a very long hiatus. Excellent stuff and funny as hell! Chris Ballew pointed at a cooling fan to the right of him and said "That's my biggest fan." My buddy and I, standing right in front of him, laughed sarcastically loud, on which he said "Wait a minute, these two are my biggest fans!". Ahh... ya had to be there  ;D

Anyway, Metallica are coming to Holland on 3/30/09. And the agency decided tickets will only be available online and max. 2 per person! This went horribly wrong with AC/DC last Saturday, with people waiting for hours in line, only to get a "server error" message and be put back at the waiting line. Man, I so hope I can get through and get 2 tickets, because Machine Head is supporting act.

Normally, I just go to the local post office or record shop and buy tickets there. I don't mind getting there an hour or two in advance. That's the fun of it. But this online stuff is bad news. Supposed to help fight black market deals, but I don't buy that.

The best part (not) is that not only Metallica tickets are going on sale on 10/25, but also tickets for Soulfly and PUSA! Which I can simply buy at the post office. But not Metallica!

This way, not the fan will get the tickets, but the one who's luckiest  >:(

I'm kind of PISSED at the Metallica touring, in that they WON'T be coming to the southern US at all. They do NOT have any dates for the southern US. This tour they are doing is mostly overseas in Europe and western part of US, so Incom I would see them as MUCH as I could if I was you. But do you think you could get pictures or hell even a autograph and help a bruda out on maybe a autograph or 2.

I sure hope I can sneak my camera in. The venue they're playing at is really uptight about that. As for autographs... well I'd give myself a 1% chance. Metallica don't seem like the guys to hang around afterwards and jam a bit you know. They're big and unfortunately they act big too. But the give one helluva live show, that's for sure.

I don't get why Metallica are the front runners of the anti-pirating lobby. I mean, they became what and where they are because of illegal copies of tapes and bootlegs back in the early 80s!

Yep and for that Metallica lost ALOT of fans that followed them for years. Now Lars Ulrich now adays has learned to keep his mouth shut thats for sure because of what he did to normal people that are not rich like he is. I just think that Lars was after the money really. I also don't think its right for what he did because frankly the song was only for a movie and REALLY didn't count that much towards a song on the album.

Hey guys, just wanted you to know I did NOT score Metallica tickets this morning. I won't go into detail about that effin online system organizer Mojo Concerts conjured up, but man, am I pissed to the bone about his. Me and a lot of others. Supposed to stop black market sales. Fans want to buy online. More customer friendly, so they say. OMFG, within 30 minutes after the sale had started, tickets already appeared on online auction sites.

I hope Mojo Concerts burns to the ground and beyond, along with our national dictator radio station 3FM, who will no doubt have wonderful contests for Metallica tickets. Some little twat will probably call, happens to know that one little hit Nothing Else blabla is from Metallica, wins those tickets and dumps them on an auction site right away.

Two (yes only two) of our steady group of music enthusiasts, managed to get tickets. 2nd ring, seated. I saw that coming, but no way I'm gonna pay $100 to SIT at a Metallica/MH concert. I want to be up front, man!

Seriously pissed off, so I comforted myself by getting on my bike to the money exchange at the train station and bought tickets for Soulfly, PUSA and All That Remains.

So, my first of those three shows I mentioned earlier was Friday 01/30. Man, Soulfly was steamrollin' as always. Not much talk (hey, it's a rock show, not a talkshow), so Max and his pals managed to put in quite a bit of songs in the setlist. They even played "Red War" from Probot. Mark Rizzo on guitar was phenominal, as always. I was right in front of him on the left side of the stage. Too bad about the lighting in this particular venue. It prevented me from taking good pics.

The support act was Max' own son Richie's band Incite. Wow, I was impressed how much Richie has grown since his 'debut' on the first Soulfly album. This is the second time in a couple of months that the support act was as good or maybe even better than the main act. In October we saw Stuck Mojo beat the crap out of main act Volbeat, hah!

Up next: Five Finger Death Punch on Feb. 18! Two days later followed by All That Remains  >:D

Well, thanks to my g/f I prevented getting labeled "stupid". All That Remains was tonight, instead of the 20th! Phew! Glad she checked the dates. I just got back from one awesome show by ATR. Will comment in more detail this weekend and I've got some pics to go along as well. And again, the support act was on equal level, and to be honest this time even better: The Haunted from Sweden  :partyon:

I saw TEODM at a festival last year or the year before that. Pretty cool, but not something I'd particularly drive 100 miles for  ;)

By the way, I saw Five Finger Death Punch in Amsterdam on the 18th. Pretty cool stuff. Again I took some nice shots. I haven't sorted them out yet, though.  :-\

Got my tickets for Black Label Society at the new House of Blues in Boston in April. We have a bunch of friends going to this and will have one hell of a time Zakk Wylde is just amazing to watch live.

Plus, this place is directly behind Fenway Park. There will be alot of drinking going on before and after the show. I'm sure I will be taking plenty of pictures.

Anyone planning on hitting the U2 360 Tour this summer? I tried to score tix for the Wookie Queen and was shut out for Gillette. I am a little pissed off at myself because I think I could of had a pair but I hit a button on the laptop and lost my place in line.

Not planning on U2. Concert concert tix have been consierably higher around here this year. So I think we're going to miss groups like Depeche Mode and No Doubt this summer. However, I am not going to miss NIN who are coming back in May, but I did pay double, but then again they weren't touring with Jane's Addcition, and Tom Morello last year.

I went and saw Tom Morello's Axis of Justice show in Hollywierd this weekend. The show was alright. His guest were Slash and Shooter Jennings, plus Morello had his side project band Street Sweeper play some stuff. I was a little disappointed that Serj Tankian didnt show-up, but not surprised. He's been known to flake.

the only way I will go to a show this summer is if Cypress Hill goes on tour. I would love to go see Jimmy Buffet but his shows are even more expensive than U2. I was only going after U2 for my wife since she loves the guys. I make fun of them every chance I get. lol Maybe that is why I missed out on the tix for the first show. lol There is always next Monday for the 2nd show. lol

Did well there were a bunch of seats up for grabs my wife and sister will be in section 114 which is right close to the stage and with their new stage design they should be able to see everything. It definitely paid off to get the subscription to their club. Got good seats without having to pay a ton in ticketmaster fees only $3 for processing.

So I think we're going to miss groups like Depeche Mode and No Doubt this summer.

I think I may go see No Doubt with the wife in June. She's been on my ass about not having a 'real' vacation since our daughter was born. She wanted to do a cruise or something of that nature, but honestly the money just isn't there for it. So I may 'surprise' her with a night at Mohegan Sun down in CT and a pair of tickets to see ND.

Saw Black Label Society, Sevendust and Dope Tuesday night at the new House of Blues behind Fenway Park.

House of Blues- Tons of security, not a bad thing. They aloud the pits to form but were kicking out the asses that were picking fights. The place itself is amazing. 3 tiered levels, and the sound is great.

Dope-Never really gave them a chance before but will now. Great young band and did a heavy version of Billy Idol's Rebel Yell which had the whole place moshing.

Sevendust- One word "incredible". Never saw them before, and they kicked ass from start to finish. The energy they had was great and they crowd was really into them.

BLS- As usual a kick ass show. Zakk was less drunk this time around and played flawless. Never a dull moment in the show and the crowd was insane from the first note to the end. The whole band came down to the security gate after the show and thanked the crowd, signed a few things and was just down to earth.

Wednesday and Thursday night we went and saw NIN, Janes Addiction, and Street Sweeper Social Club, play. Wednesday was in Irvine, and last night was in Santa Barbara. During the Irvine show Tammy was twittering and discovered that NIN was offering meet & greet packages as way to raise money a person that he knows that needs a heart transplant. So we went ahead and contributed. So yesterday we were able to watch the end of the sound check and meet Trent Reznor and the band. We brought some of the pics we bought from Nin.com and had those signed. We also got to say hello to Dave Navarro and he signed a photo for us as well. He popped in really quickly to thank everyone who contributed. As an added benefit we got to sit in on Street Sweeper's sound check. And got to ride the rail for a while. During NIN's set I eventually had to move to the back because if we stayed we would have lost or damaged those pics. But it wasnt a big deal, plus the night before I had 3rd row center seats.

If you have never of heard Street Sweeper, its a band with Tom Morello and Boots Riley. Kinda like Rage but more funkier.

I think I'm gonna buy a ticket for the Fear Factory concert in Amsterdam on August 2. Burton and Dino are back, but unfortunately Raymond and Chrisitan aren't in FF.

Well, the whole FF concert was cancelled, but I did go to the Area4 Festival in Lüdinghausen, Germany. Deftones, LOA and FNM were on the bill, amongst other (mainly German) acts.

Faith No More was just plain awesome. Don't know if it's got anything to do with his last name, but singer Mike Patton doesn't really like Germans, me thinks  ;D He kept greeting the crowd with a dubious hand gesture, which was quite popular 65-70 years ago  ;) He also made shameless fun of the previous act called Farin Urlaub Racing Team, by saying "How 'bout that Racin' Team, huh? VRRRRRNNNNGGGG!"

Funny as hell and a great show. Same goes for LOA. Keith Caputo looked like a friggin' Gorax, but he was in a great mood. LOA played 6 or 7 songs from their awesome debut River Runs Red. Guitar player Joey tried really hard to put on his best porn faces throughout the show  :P

Anyway, it was scorching, which was cool, because a lot of hüpschen Mädchen were scantily clad throughout the weekend  ;D

Here's a slide show of some pics I took. Had a mediocre camera with me, because I can't take my DSLR with me at a concert  :-\

Upcoming concerts are Wolfmother, Letz Zep and hopefully Machine Head/Hatebreed/Bleeding Through/All Shall Perish  8)

Well, I went to the Wolfmother concert in Amsterdam on the 15th. A great gig and even more so since I was able to take my DSLR with me, without any harrasment by security folks. I was able to take great shots from the band, much better than my old 3.2 megapixel Canon compact cam.

Here's a couple of shots  :)

Tickets for the Machine Head concert in February are also in the pocket. Now let's see if I can find something cool to attend in December and January.

Last week I got to see Them Crooked Vultures at the Wiltern in Los Angeles.
This new allstar super group is made up of Josh Homme of QOTSA, Dave Grohl Nirvana/Foo Fighters, and John Paul Jones of Led Zepplin.

I'm a Josh Homme fan, but myself, but that night i was more impressed with Grohl's drum play, and JPJ's hard base line.

They just released a Zepplin-esque album. You can go to the YOU TUBE channel to check it out.

I saw Thao Nguyen and the Get Down Stay Down at the Glass House over the weekend.

It was a great show (even the lead-up acts were good), but she's such a spaz whilst playing that I only got a few good pictures.

Saw Machine Head last night, accompanied by the fine lads of Hatebreed and Bleeding Through. BT was ok, not really my thing, but they do have one hot keyboard player!

Hatebreed was cool, very cool. I don't know much of their work, but they put on a great show.

Machine Head. Machine effin' Head! Damn, that was one awesome performance by Flynn and co. They even played Spine from The More Things Change, a song they never played in Holland. Some more old stuff from the first two albums and really really great performances of Halo, Aesthetics of Hate, Imperiium and what not.

There was a great circle pit as well, during Bay of Pigs, I believe. A big fella behind me bugged me, though. He started complaining about guys behing him shoving him forward and me leaning back against him. Weird fella. It's a metal show, for Pete's sake! If you can't stand the heat, right? Ah, didn't bother me long, because he moved away and let us real fans continue banging our heads! Yeah!

Next up: Fear Factory on 2-22  8)

I also took pictures at the concert. Now, I couldn't bring my DSLR I used at the Wolfmother concert with me, because the security at last night's venue is too uptight. So I took my old Canon Powershot A75 with me, for those really grainy 400 ISO shots. Heck, they even started asking questions about that old thing! I mean, your average cell phone has a better camera  ;)

Anyway, I found some pictures that aren't too bad. Feel free to check them out over here.

And tomorrow I'll try to get a ticket for a d**k Dale performance in April! Aw yeah!!

Wow, a couple of weeks further and four concerts as well  ;D. Fear Factory on Feb. 22 was bloody awesome! The Milky Way venue is such a great place to be. Me and my buddy met up with Dino Cazares, who signed the classic "Soul of a New Machine" album.

And last weekend I attended Letz Zep on Saturday and Fun Lovin' Criminals on Sunday and Monday. The FLC played their best shows ever!

Ahhh... only a few more weeks and I'm seeing The Haunted (6/4), Lamb of God (6/10) and Iginte (6/19) right here in my home town. And the FLC are coming back as well, also in my town, but that's on 9/27. Good times ahead!

Went and saw Sublime with Rome this past weekend in the beautiful city of Santa Barbara. Cage the Elephant and the Dirty Heads were also on the bill.

I love doing the concert thing. I saw Sublime with Rome and Them Crooked Vultures twice in April.
And for you Bostonians out there, I saw a Bean-town band about 3 weeks ago called State Radio.
They are an Indie/Reggae band. Thier music is up on myspace but better in person.

Last weekend I saw Josh Grobin in concert. This show was absolutely amazing.
In August I'm going to see Motley Crue and poison. Not a big fan of poison but Motley will be worth the money.

I got to see Loverboy and Arch Allies a couple weeks ago.

Loverboy was everything I remembered them to be and more.

Arch Allies was a great tribute band playing Styx, Journey and REO Speedwagon.
