:partyon: What's everyone's favorite rock band? :partyon:

I'd have to say Sublime, even though they barely qualify being punk. Next would be definately Stone Temple Pilots.  8)

Rock  bands

Led Zeppelin
Jimi Hendrix
AC/DC
Van Halen (I'm a pre-Sammy kinda guy)
The Doors
Aerosmith
Black Sabbath
Guns & Roses

Modern Day
Velvet Revolver - by far one of the greatest acts to come together in 20 years.
Kid Rock - by far one of the most talented individuals I've EVER seen perform and a great inspiration to white trash like myself throughout the world.

I know I've left some out but these are but a few of my favorites.

Beautiful list, minus NIN IMO

I love Jack Johnson, although he's not really a band nor is he really rock.  I've been listening to him a lot lately.  I hope I find his first CD soon because it sounds cool.

I'd have to say Nirvana and Oasis are my 2 favorite bands ever.

After them come in no order
Beatles
Third Eye Blind
Everclear
STP
RHCP
System of a Down
Weezer
REM
Travis
Coldplay
Incubus
Green Day smoking gun sellout liberalists pre-American Idiot

Jack Johnson  not A Band, he has a band playing behind him does he not? Do they have a name? Or do are they apart of the great entity that is Jack Johnson?

His mellow music is good in moderation. Don't listen too much or you'l end up turning into pu$$y and start crying in front of your old lady or something.

As of NIN. Dude, you don't know what your missing. Out of all the bands I listed, NIN would more than likely out perform any of them. And I've been to a s**t load of shows.

If you like hard rock, check out Avenged Sevenfold, these guys could be big in a few years.

Its interesting to see what some of the folks like,

For me its in no special order,

Metallica
Rob Zombie- White Zombie era more so
Rammstein
Pearl Jam
Nirvana
Velvet Revolver
to name a few,   When you look back through differnt eras it really changes as to what was defined as "rock" or "heavy metal" or the bands we though were cool then and now seeing them play at 1000 seat bars instead of arenas. I also like to see bands on the rise and how they progress through the years.

It doesn't matter. He's off the cool list. As the saying goes "A house is known by the company it keeps" that includes tour buses.  ;)

I THINK it's a ploy by Scott Stapp just to get someone to think he might still be relevent! Again, the Rock LIVE album kicks more ass than a donkey and if you do like the only artist to ever cross over into the variety the Kid does, pick this one up!

Looks like we got a new King of Rock & Roll or should I say a new DEAD King.
Kurt Cobain surpassed Elvis Presley as this years wealthiest dead celebrity.

On Tuesday night I went down to Hollywierd and saw Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine play some music from his new Album The Nightwatchman - One Man Revolution at the Amoeba Music Store. Afterwards, he signed a few autographs.

UGH, the new Megadeth is crap. Don't buy it.

Pretty much any of the new "mainstream" stuff that's coming up is pure, utter crap. Marilyn Manson new disc is better off as a coaster. I wouldn't even let the new Linkin Park cd into my apartment for fear that it might make my other, good cd's turn wimpy.

The only cd's I've been listening to recently are the new Dying Fetus (which is incredible) and the new Vital Remains (which might be a contender for album of the year!!). That's about it.

Music is pretty much dead at this point, I think. Downloading is simply killing the industry. Like I should talk  :P

You know you're getting old when you start down the "Everything on the radio today is crap" path. "Those darn kids and their music!"
Shake you cane grandpa ;)

I try to listen to the radio whenever I can. Some stuff is crap- always will be. There is a lot of cool new music to be heard if you open your ears and turn on your hearing aids. Some of the stuff my kids shove in my face I just can't stand but some is pretty damn good.

P.S. I'm not taking shots at anybody here. I just think this kind of thing tends to sneak up on us if we're not carefull. My Dad can't stand most of the music played in our house and it kind of makes me laugh. Sorry, I want to be the kind of Grandma taking the grandkids to rock concerts.

Im 30 now and i got my first cassette when i was 10 i think, and my mom got me Megadeth Peace sells.  Some of my favorite bands are:

Megadeth (R.I.P. and earlier)
Slayer (Divine and earlier)
Crowbar
Down
Acid Bath
Goatwhore
Cradle of Filth
Morbid Angel
A.I.C.
Pantera
White Zombie
Death
Dethklok

I just like good damn Metal/Death/Black Metal....But the reason why I posted here is for this.  Do any of you watch the Adult Swim show Metalocalypse?  Well the band is called Dethklok on that show and I picked up their Cd a few months back and I think it just kickass.  It has one of the best drummers on the album (Gene Hoglan) and Brendon Small doing the rest.  Brendon is a Berekly grad and looks like a common guy but he pretty kick ass also.  Brendon made the cartoon and wrote the songs.  The cd is like Death Metal but the songs are almost nothing like Death Metal lyrics.  Its weird but it works, Like one song is "go into the water"...its about fish, WTF or "the lost vikings"  its about just some vikings roaming the land....Weird but brutal.   Trust me if you havent heard it and like Death Metal pick it up or check it out on Myspace.  I havent removed it out of my cd player in my car since then, lol.

Iron Maiden
Judas Priest (Halford only, none of that Ripper crap)
Slayer
Metallica (Pre Black album days)
Megadeth

Those are some good ones. Met Kerry King (guitarist for Slayer) once, really nice guy for someone who puts out "Satan's music" LOL!

I remember I sent my mom to the mall to get me Slayer "Hell Awaits" on vinyl back when it came out, because I was sick at home. But I had to have that record, so I sent mom out to get it for me. I remember her coming back and being like "WTF is this crap?!?".

Have you heard the new band "Kingdom of Sorrow" yet? The album doesn't come out till around the middle of February I think, but it's really, really good. One of the guitarists from Down is in it, along with Jaimie Jasta from Hatebreed. If you like either of those bands (or both) then check them out.

Kirk Windstein of Down/Crowbar (Vocals & Guitars)
Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed/Icepick (Vocals)
Steve Gibb of Crowbar/Ex-Black Label Society (Guitar)
Derek Kerswill of Seemless/Unearth (Drums)
Matthew Brunson (Bass Playing Local Nola Freak!)

Great stuff.

Hell yeah Jokabofe, Goatwhore owns dude, I have seen them twice on their first album freakin most brutal, got a shirt from there also.  I have rare rare Acid Bath shirts aswell, its sucks about them though check this s**t out.  My long time good friends were in a band now called Convergence from Within, had a show with Acid Bath down at Z's Lounge in Ft. Walton, FL.  We got down there, that day/night the Bassist from AB died...I was one freakin night away from seeing them, sucks.

Back in the early 90's I was in a band, and there was this one club that we used to play at all the time. The owner called us up one day and asked if we wanted to play a show with a band that was coming around on the east coast to do a tour for their first album* that was coming out soon. So we said sure, why not. We went to the club and set up our stuff, and then the members of the band came out (this was before the doors opened). This skinny dude with a mohawk asked me if he could borrow my electrical tape when I was done (I was taping all my cables down to the floor so they wouldn't get kicked out of their places) and I said sure. When I was done, I gave it to him, and he proceeded to sit down on the stage and tape up - his shoes. All the guys from the band were wearing shorts - and it was February in NJ. They said they spent all their money to come up north for a small tour, and didn't bring any other clothes because they were from Texas and they didn't know it would be so cold here. I kinda felt bad for them. Even offered to let them stay at my house for the night after the show, but they declined.

Then, this guy (who turned  out to be the singer, Phil) handed me a CD and told me that it was his bands album that was coming out soon. I looked at it - "Cowboys From Hell" - said thanks and put it in my bag. We played. They played. We broke up a few months later. They went on to sell millions of records.

Go figure.

* Even though they had already released 4 cd's that were a bit - uhm, different - nobody really knew who Pantera was at this point.

Today I have been in a Pantera mood.  You know what they were just legends they just crushed back then.  I was listening to 25 years on the Far Beyond album and the last riffs at the end of the song are jjust brutal.... were phil says "i vow less I die tomorrow" that part.    I so wished I could see them again and mosh mosh mosh.  Dammit why did dime bag have to get shot, I wonder if like maybe Zack Wylde would fill in for dimebag, he is the only one that could pull it off right.

I am going to listen to Great Southern Trendkill next what an awesome album.  Everything Phil said in that album was just about true.

Hey monk I always thought that myself of that zakk would fill in for them and be there next guitar player. But seeing that hes already got ozzy and BLS I don't see it happening. I have always said that zakk would be the next choice.

Well, considering that Phil was the one that left and broke up the band - and the one that no one wants to talk to - it's not really a question of getting a guitar player to replace Dime.

Very so true but if vinny paul and the rest of Damage Plan was going to carry on, I would say Zakk would be the next best choice. But joka you are right since phil left the band and all the B.S he put the band though...... who nows where Pantera would really be if he didn't start that trash.

OK so I wanted to post here again about Pantera.  Has anyone seen Dimebag Vision, well if so there is a part in there from like mid 80's.  The part is DB playing the end melody part of floods except it was in mid 80's when he came up with it.  What is so bad ass is that he found a song to put it in, and it was Floods in 96....dunno Dimebag just rocks..
