Title: Ebay Finds
Post by: Major fett on June 03, 2006, 12:28:43 PM
Whil perusing ebay I came across this (http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-Kotobukiya-Darth-Vader-last-of-its-kind_W0QQitemZ6633795004QQihZ012QQcategoryZ3981QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) very intersting I wished I lived in DC. :-\

BTW: if this is in the wrong place my apologies, I couldn't find the old ebay thread anywhere.

To bad he figured out his pricing mistake. For $19.99 I would have bid on it.

Here's a cool Fixer Custom (http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-Card-W-Custom-Republic-Commando-Fixer-Scorch_W0QQitemZ6061985414QQcategoryZ2476QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) I found on ebay

that blue led light up helmet is really cool. If I wasnt trying to save money for the rest of the saga line, the new battlepacks, and the new ships, I would be bidding on that bad boy. seems like a really reasonable cost for such a cool custom.

I was surfing the bay and stumbled upon this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=019&item=290004009797&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1) wich got me to thinking I could make some great custom tanks from that vehicle, the only problem is I dont recognize it. Does anyone know what line it belongs to and what it's called?
Update: Fixed the link

It looks like GI Joe, but I couldn't find it in the archives.  I'm not sure what it is.

I can't place it myself though it does look familiar some how. I wonder if it is one of the 21st century items.

I noticed that odd tidbit as well.

I can't think of a GI Joe tank like this.  I'm wondering if it's one of the "generic" tanks from TRU for some army toys.  I may take a look next time I head out for a toy run.

I had no idea these were made by a girl, it's not often you find a female SW fan but a customizer even better. I wonder if she's in it strictly for the money or the hobby.

Ok I would like some input about this (http://cgi.ebay.com/Linux-XP-2007-FULL-Pro-Best-Windows-OS-BONUS-Ubuntu_W0QQitemZ110074813298QQihZ001QQcategoryZ41888QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) is it even legit? I bought a new HD for my old desktop as it's full and is having issues, but I don't want to spend $100 to install an OS on it. So I've been watching ebay hoping to score XP cheaper then at retail and I came across this auction for Linux Does anyone have it and what do you think? Thanks!

Daggone guys twist the knife why dont you? Heck yes thats a good price. Beats FAO clearance by about 50 bucks. If only I had the clams. One day I will see these when I have the funds and then watch out! It is a dream of mine to eventually have one of these. Ofcourse it would make more sense for me to wait till I have room to display it, but that is in the works too. At least I am just about ready to build in under my stairs for my Hoth dio. Thanks for the link Ron, I sure wish I had the clams.

Funny you say that, because if I'm not mistaken, Hasbro did make that toy. Not exactly as it looks there, but pretty close. Add a few wheels and a different coat of paint, and it's right from the box.

Does look like a cool vehicle though.

Title: Re: Ebay Finds

That one in the link is a pretty hasty thing if you ask me- Looks like a lot of short cuts were taken just to throw that together, it would look a ton better with some details added, the glad lock tupperware feet are just to cheesy, you could litteraly duplicate that with a junk at-at and a driod tank some hard plastic line and gladware. Not worth 70 bucks ( his reserve)

I agree with you that Hasbro should take a que from what folks are doing and that they are using alot of existing parts.

I don't come off sounding like that in my auctions, do I?

It does look kinda cool, and He did take some decent pics, which will count for alot, but priceless...mabey not.
someone will pay the reserve because of the pics, and all of the clones, if they are included.

I wonder how many hasbro execs are assigned to monitor star wars customs, and if they watch those and the factory stock stuff selling on ebay, seperatlly?  a way for them to guage whats hot, and whats not.

These were at the tail end of the OTC line and were tough to locate in most areas, similar to what happened at the end of the FF and EP1 series as well, Hasbro never gives out numbers but they seem to be in much shorter supply.

I managed to purchase two from toysrus.com in December of 2004. They were up on their site a few times and sold out very fast. The first time I tried to order one, they actually sold out while I was placing my order. I never found one at retail. I usually open figures, but since these guys were so hard to find, I left them both carded. From what I've seen on Ebay, I think that $16.50 is a great price.

That is a damn good price for the Sandtrooper I never saw one of those retail and my case from EE was canceled by Hasbro so it never made it into my collection. Good score Good score.

Finally scored a POTC Sandtrooper on the evil empire. I think it was a bargain at $16.50 atleast it's worth that much if it means I can stop looking for one.
Great score Wayne that just leaves me and dustrho that still needs this guy!

Kind of spendy hope this shows Hasbro we want this ship. Check out his other items he also has a Peter Mayhew in wookie (http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Peter-Mayhew-Chewbacca-removable-head-Star-Wars_W0QQitemZ320131070612QQihZ011QQcategoryZ751QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) costume that is neat looking. I've been thinking about doing some of these behind the scenes customs but can't find the right heads to make it authentic looking, still trying to win a Dannl Faytonni since AOTC to put on a 3PO body!

Title: Re: Ebay Finds
Post by: jokabofe on June 30, 2007, 05:17:36 PM
Considering it would have cost me a total of $170 ($60 + $110 shipping) I would have bid on it at that price. The guy was from upstate New York, I would have even tried to arrange a meet to pick it up and save myself even more cash. Then again, with my car, it might have cost me more than $110 for gas to get up to New York and back  :-\
Title: Re: Ebay Finds

I love it when I see someone selling a SW t-shirt for $60 BIN and I click on the auction to check it out and I find:

"All of my prices are reasonable and are often much less than I paid for them retail.  Please be respectful and not e-mail me arguing prices with me."

That right there just tells me that it's a joke, and the person knows their prices are too expensive, because they've been emailed and told about it previously. Yeah, it's an ILM staff shirt, but I bought the same one for under $30 a while back, when they were hotter and harder to come by.

Go figure.

While that is a nice item, I think that's a bit too much for it. And one thing I found odd about this auction, while looking at the bidding history:

Bidder 7 was the winner, with a bid of $1200.00 - but the second highest bid was only $650.01?? That doesn't make any sense... unless there was either 1) a reserve which isn't shown now that the item has ended or 2) a BIN, again, not shown now that the item has ended. I just thought this was odd:

Bidder 7     US $1,200.00 Jul-05-07 12:59:46 PDT View
Bidder 5     US $650.01 Jun-30-07 18:05:06 PDT View
Bidder 6     US $500.00 Jul-05-07 06:45:11 PDT View

Dave, price depends on where we are starting,

If you have the model kit ( which AMT sucks by the way) , I can assemble, paint and light it for about 30-35 bucks ( I am guessing right now), thats the cost of paints for the airbrush, the batteries, and led kits and a battery harness. However I am pretty confident I can also do it from the Hasbro Vaders tie as well, Maybe I'll dig up an extra and give it a shot

Actually the Hasbro version would be easier since I can just unscrew the halves and hollow areas out, The bomber would be even easier since I would have a larger area to put the battery pack.

Either it's an error in the listing (i.e. 48.00, not 4800.00) or else he's just doing it to drive traffic to his other listings, like the Commando armor set he's selling.

Either it's an error in the listing (i.e. 48.00, not 4800.00) or else he's just doing it to drive traffic to his other listings, like the Commando armor set he's selling.

I bet you its the second one

I hate to say it but it looks like that guy is genuinely wanting 4800.00 for those. Why else would the "make no payments till..." option be there? I'll admit they are superb but I guess some people just think there chit don't stink. Different strokes huh?

I've seen that before. It's called "take a commtech stormtrooper and replace the cool Sandtrooper with this, but tell people that's how it was when I purchased it". I know there are a lot of idiots on ebay, but I think it's more the sellers now instead of the customers. If it was just the figure, I might be able to believe that the deco got missed. But the guy took all the accessories and replaced them too. That's just too much to believe that it's a factory error.

d**k.

Title: Re: Ebay Finds
Post by: jokabofe on August 17, 2007, 01:24:15 PM
The only thing I can say is that you can't look at auctions that aren't over, or at least have bids on them, to get an accurate "going rate" for these figures. With that said, I did see a UGH Animated Boba Fett that was nearly $40 after quite a few bids. Looks like these idiots are just trying to make quick cash instead of starting an auction at $9.99 and letting it run for a few days. Whatever.

Also, don't forget that these are hitting right now. And barely, spotty at best. Look at last year - the same thing happened. I just saw an auction that had ended for the '06 UGH set that ended at $32 + shipping. $32!! For 10 figures that this time last year were selling for $30 EACH. Hopefully the seller was one of the idiots who was trying to sell them for that amount last year. These will drop in price and become more obtainable, at least via ebay, in the coming months. Have faith and don't jump the gun.

That was the only Dark Trooper I could find on ebay. I'm not hooked on the gold coins, but would have a s**t-fit if I were to ever find one.
If I ever found something super hot like that to list, I would list it at 99 cents and let it ride.  Listing fees are cheaper, that way. Plus it would steer more traffic twards my other items.
Currently, I am jonesing to score a dark trooper for myself!

Lili Ledy had soem very interesting pieces, expecially when it came to the 12" line, That raider is rare, and like the ad states very very hard to find in that condition, the robes were almost gauze like in nature and were easily wrecked. The Vader is also hard to find with the original saber.

I am really like this one. A seller on the bay has modified a Falcon to house the Xbox. This is definitely pretty cool to say the least.

Check out the auction.

you should be able to do it with the 360. I do believe my brother is going to attempt to do this soon with his 360 and his regular Xbox. I may try it with the Wii once I get some thoughts on how to accomplish it.

looks like the AT-TE are hitting already. Some guy in Ohio has two up for grabs in his store. The guy lives in a town about 15 minutes from my mom. Hell he lives in the town next to where Jedimom grew up. That town has nothing going for it so he must of hit the Dayton area (closest Target) or Lima area for his.

I got the Kustom in today and wanted to share with everyone here. Notice all the little touches they added... Cheetah print interior, brass knuckles, 8-Ball shifter, X-Wing Kill silhouettes, skulls & crossbones on gloves, tailpipes, etc...

Rather then waste bandwidth, here's the link to the photobucket album for the pics. Enjoy!

Check out this variant of the Droid Factory Han Solo Hoth:

"THIS COULD BE THE ONLY ONE OUT THERE A REAL VARIANT FACTORY MISTAKE IT IS HAN SOLO DROID FACTORY 3 OF 6 FACTORY SEALED BUT IT LOOK'S LIKE OBI-WAN'S HEAD ON IT I HAVE NOT OPENED IT BUT I HAVE THE HOLE SET AND THE BODY IS THE SAME BUT THE JACKET IS MORE OF A BLUE LIKE WHAT I'AM USING FOR LISTING WERE THE NORMAL ONE IS A DARK BLUE. THIS COULD BE THE ONLY ONE OUT THERE A REAL ONE OF A KIND! ALL SALE'S ARE FINAL SO ASK QUESTION'S BEFORE BIDDING AND GOOD LUCK."

Yeah, like he didn't take the hooded head off and replace it with an Obi-Wan, I'm sure. Considering this Han was the only "new" figure in the lot, I'm guessing he did. But, some idiot is willing to pay $51 for it...  ::)

I just recieved the carry case on Tuesday and the case is not bad.The photo used in the auction really didn't give the case justice.Though the plastic strip going around the from is somewhat loose but the seal is still stuck to the back. Not a bad deal.

Why not wait for it to come out on retail and get it cheaper. If I was you, that's what I would do. Ebay is scalper city and they would see ya coming from a mile away especially the shipping would be expensive since it would be coming from the other side of the world.
