ITLOF: Garage Sale Gems
« on: June 16, 2006, 08:31:01 PM »
Hey troopers, with the warm weather that's upon us it's about that time for garage sale shopping. What better timing than to have this article on our site tonight, because our neighborhood is getting together to have a huge garage sale party. There will be so many families having their own garage sales, and I'm planning on heading out in the morning to hopefully score something good. Of course I'm going to be searching for anything Star Wars related, so I will have to keep my fingers crossed. In my article I give tips on planning and strategizing the attack, how to make an effective approach, and more.

I haven't gone out yet this morning as the "cable guy" had to come out here and fix a problem with our high def cable. He just left, my son is about to wake up from a morning nap, and the two of us will be hitting the garage sales soon.

I spent most of Friday morning hitting the local sales. Came up with a big zilch. However I don't give up hope. In recent years I have found that I will find some good/great buys at only 2 or 3 garage sales but they usually make up for all of the wasted trips.

I have never had luck at garage sales when it comes to Star Wars. But now I'm a collector I might hit more places and find something worthwhile. I can't believe your dad found an AT-AT for just six bucks! :o Man your lucky!

Excellent article once again Chris!  I don't hit too many garage sales, but when I do, I look pretty hard.  Unfortunately, I usually come up empty handed.  I have better luck at flea markets than garage sales, but then again, I don't go that often.

Just found out about a local flea market that happens every Satuday so I hope to find some stuff there.

I love garage sales.

The other day I found the SW OT Trivial Pursuit game collector's edition for 50cents. And it was even complete with all the pewter figures and the R2 randomizer

Nothing! A big fat zilch! Oh well I guess I just don't have any luck with garage sales and flea markets. Come to think of it I've never seen any Star Wars stuff at these things at all. Guess I just live in the wrong neighborhoods....

I tend to see a lot of overpriced stuff -- figures missing part for $10, stuff like that. I guess they think everything "Star Wars" is worth something, no matter what condition

yes it is, especially beacuse he found it in a nice condition complete with his staff and coin, he knew yak face was expensive but he didnt realized how much until he saw the price book. ha, when that happened he created him a card with bubble  and looks almost as an original packed one

Found these

For $1. Special Edition for 20th anniversary

Plus found SE A New Hope on VHS for a dollar.

Strange to say, I have never sat down and actually watched the Special Ediitons (except for ROTJ which I saw at the theatre)

You and me both Pat. This may be the first time in 3 years I haven't had at least 1 really good StarWars score.

Too bad there are no garage sales in Romania. The closest thing we got is Obor/talcioc market where people bring stuff they don't want and sell them. I got there a few SW items as well, most of them gave to my little cousin Roby or to the Romanian TheForce.net forum members

Has anyone had any good garage sale discoveries this summer? I hit up a few garage sales, and sadly I couldn't find a single Star Wars item for sale. I saw some children's books for sale, but they were in too bad of shape to think about buying.
