Jabba the Hutt: Continued
« on: June 22, 2010, 11:28:35 AM »
We had some very interesting discussion about the breaking Jabba's Throne set but let us pick up the conversation here and leave get the Sneak Peek thread back on topic.

I've read some very interesting comments net-wide regarding this set and overall I think most people are impressed.  I too have to say the set has really grown on me, and I really do like it even though a few of the things I mentioned in my review point out what I do not.

Some have asked for exact measurements of the Throne and I came up with approximately 10 1/4 inches by 1.5 inches.  Note the height is maybe a 1/4 higher because of the lift the wheels give it.

Also the gargoyle rings are metal as a headless Tusken Raider was able to confirm this for us. Thanks again Hasbro!  8) ;) :D

Also I tried to pull apart the hooka to add Jabba's snack, but I think it's glued or molded together.  So the only big highlight was the chain coming off the neck.  I understand it's just the second Oola figure, but they'll never have to make another one.  8)

I'm really liking this set. It's nice to see some OT love! While it does have it's drawbacks they are outweighed by the good things about the set. It's going to be nice to replace the vintage set. For the many things Hasbro does wrong this is one thing the did mostly right. We have been asking for a new Jabba and throne for years. And for once they came through. Toss in the upcoming often requested cloud car, and AT-AT we always wanted.... OT collectors are going to have some nice treasures to add to their collections! I for one am going to support these items.

Q - Recently, a single image has surfaced of a Wal-Mart exclusive Jabba with throne enviroment and Oola boxed set. Can you please elaborate more on this and tell us what else will be included in the set and possibly show us some new images as well?

A - We do not comment* on illegally-obtained or pre-production product that shows up on the Internet. We are holding details on the Jabba set until Celebration V, at which time we'll have the final toy available for pictures.

I just wanted to thank you, Darth Spice. That review was impressive. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed it. He wants one of these and I don't blame him. Oola alone makes that set worthwhile.

They actually sound fairly peeved off about the leak, no doubt the Jabba may have been the "big thing" to reveal for this year's Celebration V and that's now been scooped from them.  Beware an angry Hasbro...

Saw this in the stores today, was very very nice, I'll be getting one for sure, just after CV, don't want to spend all my cash before the con.....

If this is the "big" thing for the show, why is it in stores already?

Probably because some a**h**e leaked it out onto the internet before anyone even knew it existed, and now Hasbro had to rush it to get it out.

I am out of town right now, but my walmart had a couple of these left as of yesterday.  I will most likely check the walmarts here in central Texas and see what I can come up with.  PM me with your trades and maybe we can work something out.
Needed:
             Saga Gold Boba Fett

             MR FX Mace Saber
             MR FX Kenobi Saber ROTS
Hasbro Maul FX - double blade

So it looks like they're turning up, but one of the recent slideshows said that it would be an October release.  So for those of you (like me) that haven't seen one yet: wait for it.  If it's anything like the Dewback, ATST, or Octuparra, it'll be plentiful.

Trying to pay for thier space fee probably, but there were a lot of overseas SW fans there, so they may pay the cost for one.

I found two today, also at $38.  It's nice.  I've been slowly building up my palace denizens over the years in anticipation of a new Jabba.  Now he's here and I can set up the display.  Is there any way to get the backdrop?

It looks like a lot of Walmarts are not going to carry this.I noticed that only 4 Walmarts in my area have the shelf tag for the Jabba Thone.I am wondering if Walmart is scared to order a bunch of these like they did last year with the Evo sets and the AT-St they had last year.

I think you might be right. Still none at my walmarts..... So  I asked a toy dept manager and she said that because her walmart has a small tot section she may not be getting it.  So I looked at a super walmart today and still didn't find Jack s**t.

I am wondering if Walmart is nervious to put out the Jabbaa The Hut set because of Oola.Walmart has been pcky with the kinds of Magazines they sale in at thier news stand.I am wondering if Walmart veiws Oola to be "unappropriate".After all is how shall i say, reveiling.

that may be.  Look what happened with the plourr ilo figure. However from the trashy women with the tatoos and the boobs about hanging out in short shorts that I saw at my local walmart today... Well let's just say Oola looks modest.

I'm thinking it's more because they're afraid of a slow sell-through, as with previous exclusives.  As I understand it, retailers have to bid on exclusives, so this was something they wanted on their shelves.  I could be wrong though.

I think if they had any type of problem with it, it would have been addressed before it got to distribution, or even my hands!  ;D ;)  :P

Since this had an on shelf date of October I wouldn't get worked up just yet if you haven't spotted it, I'm sure they're going to want this available during the big Holiday push as well.
Now if January comes and you still don;t have one then I might start panicking.

The problem is not all Walmarts are getting these. This is the thing that baffles me.I found mine in Madison. They only had 2 of them.Which is the case pack.I don't know if Florance was on the Walmart.com list.Athens was not even listed.Which is really shocking.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Pretty much everything is done except the fridge and a little cleaning of the kitchen (counter where stuff got piled).

Living room now has the six saga posters hung - 4-5-6 above the TV and 1-2-3 opposite wall above loveseat

Have one more poster for my long misc. Star Wars poster wall. It should be in maybe tomorrow. I'll get some more detailed shots.

oops, wrong thread maybe?   ;)

They are here in Toronto, Canada at last... opened mine up today and I can only say: outstanding. Pictures don't do Jabba justice. I am really impressed with Hasbro's efforts on making this guy and Oola so accurate. Not sure how to bend the tail though, feels quite rigid so I'm a bit afraid to push it too hard.

The cost up here is $35CAN which is pretty good (with taxes, it goes to $39.55). I am estatic to add this to my diorama.  Vintage Jabba and throne now in a box in my closet :)

Because they are way over-priced. $25 woulda been fair. $38 is too much.

none of my walmarts have this and I don't think they ever will. I have only seen them in bigger cities like Sacramento.   Thought it was strange that they never showed in Modesto, which is not huge but is pretty big for this part of California.

Ricky there are still 3 on the shelf here, you want me to snag one and bring it with me to P-town Friday?
There will come a time when your training ends. There will come a day when you have learned all the lessons, when all my knowledge of the dark side will be yours. On that day you will challenge me for the title of Master, and only one of us will survive the encounter.

Thank You Spice. ;D I am now the proud owner of the Exclusive Jabba Set.  :chewie:
I still haven't seen them this week in my local 4 Walmarts. I guess we are too small of an area to receive them. My area Walmarts are always forgotten to have Exclusive SW Toys. What a shame Walmart does this to us.

I would definitely get him at $9.99. If anyone picks up an extra at that price I would definitely take him off your hands

Never even got him here, I had to get help from a Trooper on here to even get him. Kind of disappointed in how little circulation they had for such a good OT playset.
