INTRODUCTION
The X-Wing fighter has become the symbol of the Rebellion. Swift,
reliable and highly responsive in battle, this rugged craft is
capable of absorbing plenty of damage in combat. X-Wings have flown
in all the major battles against the Empire and are the preferred
fighters of Rebel Pilots. In the bustling Alliance hangars, X-Wings
are prepared for another battle with Imperial fighters, as pilots
and technicians check engines, instruments and weapons. One Alliance
pilot, Wedge Antilles, flew an X-Wing in the Battle of Yavin as Red
Two and as Red Leader in the Battle of Endor.
Once again Hasbro is using the highly superior 2002 mold of the
X-Wing to make this one. Though a simple repaint without electronics
this ship is nicely done and is probably not the last time Hasbro
will use this mold.
This is the first time that any X-Wing or Rebel ship has come with
ladders. Two are packed in this one, a big yellow one for Wedge to
climb up into the cockpit and a smaller brown one for the
technicians to climb about the X-Wing for repairs and maintenance.
The Wedge Figure uses the same body as the 2009 San Diego Luke
Skywalker figure though Wedge is not smiling. Hasbro almost got
Wedge correct for the third attempt but missed the mark on his
helmet. Hasbro painted it silver in color when it should be an olive
grey color as seen in "A New Hope!"
The R2-unit is the correct color of red but instead of a silver dome
with red coloring it should be a red dome with white coloring. You
almost had it Hasbro, better luck next time. If you turn the
R2-units head it will lower down the middle leg, turn it in the
opposite direction and the middle legs moves back up into the body
of the R2-unit. This is a nice feature that some R2-units have.
Overall for the $49.99 price tag I say you cannot go wrong with
adding another X-Wing to your growing Rebel Fleet.
