EVEN THE CLONES LOOK GOOD IN GREEN
You either love them or you hate them, and I certainly would have to say that I like them an awful lot. Earlier this year Hasbro released the smaller line of Unleashed figures known as the Unleashed Battle Pack assortment, and because Revenge of the Sith came out not too long ago, they decided to initially focus on that theme for the first wave of these figures. It was a good strategy on their part, especially since the movie is so fresh in our minds, and even better now that we have the DVD of the film to watch over and over again. The only thing that was concerning to me was the fact that they shelved the regular Unleashed lineup of figures, but according to some sources that it was only a temporary action and not a permanent one. Many fans of the regular Unleashed line became furious, including myself, that Hasbro said they have no intentions at this time to continue with that line. However, because of their action I decided to try out this new miniature line of Unleashed figures, and (as already mentioned) I think these are great.

The first of several Unleashed Battle Packs that will be converted into our Image Guide format will be Yoda’s Elite Clone Troopers. Included in this pack are three troopers who have not specifically been given unit names, but some refer to them as scout troopers and others have called them BARC troopers. The fourth piece in this pack is Commander Gree.

Commander Gree is the designated leader of the garrison that was deployed to protect Kashyyyk from the Separatist invasion during the Clone Wars. You can tell just by looking at him that he means business, and that he is a natural born leader. He is wearing standard Phase II armor, but instead of being primarily white with some colored highlights his armor is painted in a forest camouflage pattern (green is the primary color with black spotting throughout). Silver highlights are placed all over his armor, which makes him stand out as the main clone in charge. Instead of wearing a black shield that covers most clone troopers’ eyes, Gree’s shield is metallic green/yellow in color. Other items that are somewhat different than what is typically issued to a clone trooper are the gray suspenders that he wears and the side blaster pistol holster on his left thigh. He appears to be pointing at something, possibly ordering his men where to attack or to move out toward. With his trusty blaster in his left hand and his clone troopers behind him, he has nothing to be afraid of… except for a little green character named Yoda.

Along with Commander Gree are four BARC troopers in various stances. One is kneeling down and taking aim at one of his foes, another is standing tall with his DC-15 blaster rifle in hand either shooting or aiming at someone, and the other trooper is falling back with a blaster rifle and pistol in both hands as if he’s either been shot or he’s shooting multiple targets. These troopers are almost identical to the scout troopers in Return of the Jedi, but instead of wearing white armor over black under suits their armor is painted in a forest camouflage pattern (slightly different than that of Commander Gree’s camouflage). The armor has a base coat of a light green color, with random patterns of dark green, light brown and dark gray. These colors are applied in a random manner, and no BARC trooper looks identical to the other but all follow the same pattern. Instead of wearing a black shield that covers their eyes their shields are metallic green/yellow in color, which almost appears that there’s a light source behind the shields.

SUMMARY
So what are your thoughts about these now, especially as they’ve been in stores now for a few of months? From what I’ve gathered in our forum, it seems that most people still have not been sold on these, but I sure have. The packaging alone is great to look at, and the figures themselves are nicely done by Hasbro. Head on over to our forum and tell us what you think about these.
