INTRODUCTION
The Sith Probe Droids used in TPM are known as Dark Eye
Probe Droid. The droids where developed by Arakyd Industries for use
by the Sith before the Clone Wars. These droids where passive spy
units and plated with energy absorbing armor that kept it from being
detected by most sensors. They could be mounted with many types of
weapons ranging from blaster cannons to poison needles. Darth Maul
carried three of these with him on his missions watching the Black
Sun and when he was tracking Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Padme on Naboo.
Sideshow Collectibles made
the Sith Probe Droids the first expansion pack in their 1/6th line.
The Probe Droids where put up for sale back in June of 2006 as the
second inclusive item. The Sideshow Collectibles Team sculpted the
Probe Droids.
If you are familiar with
Sideshow Collectibles they do things in Regular, Exclusive Formats,
and now Inclusive. This review for the Inclusive Sith Probe Droid
Pack.
PACKAGING - 10
Sideshow stayed with the same very friendly design that they started
this line with. It’s also the last item we see for a while with the
original imagery with the New 30th Anniversary style coming. Inside
much like with the Salacious Pack you only get one window telling
you about the item and one window with the items showing.
SCULPTING - 10
The sculpting done on these Droids are very well done with even the
smallest detail not going undone. When looking at these you feel
like these jumped off screen. Even the eye of the piece looks like
glass and if you have Maul you must get these!
PAINT - 10
The paint job on these are nicely done. These would be difficult to
paint because of their size.
ARTICULATION - N/A
While these are great there is no articulation.
ACCESSORIES - 10
This is a hard category do decide on honestly. I’m going to give
them a 10 because of what they add to Darth Maul since they are his
accessory in a way. This does come with not only 1 but 2 sand bases
so the Droids have one and you can add one to any of your figures.
It also comes with a second droid control for you to put on your
figures.
OUTFIT - N/A
No outfits for these.
VALUE - 10
At $25 dollars or $8 and change per Droid they’re well worth it.
They’re much nicer than anything we’ve ever gotten from Hasbro with
similar type items. They also add so much possibility to Darth Maul
vs Qui-Gon.
OVERALL - 10
I’m torn on what the overall raiting should be honestly. I’m giving
it a 10 because again the item is awesome and well done but it also
adds a lot to Maul. Also as far as accessory items go this is one of
the best items.
