INTRODUCTION
"From the planet Gamorr, the Gamorrean Guard species consists of brutish, porcine, humanoids who maintain a feudal level of technology and tolerate a remarkable amount of violence in their everyday activities. Interstellar procedures programs for visiting Gamorr consist of one line: DO NOT VISIT GAMORR.

While Gamorreans have been introduced to modern blaster and weapon technology, they prefer to hack and slash with axes, swords and maces. They only use modern weaponry when off-planet. Most Gamorreans have green skin, pig-like snouts and yellowed tusks protruding from jowled cheeks. These compliment the small, yellow horns the Gamorreans have growing from the top of their heads. Jabba the Hutt was known to use dim-witted Gamorreans as enforcers and bodyguards, outfitting them with leather and metal uniforms."

The Gamorrean Guard was one of the first characters we see in Return of the Jedi, and Sideshow Collectibles did a great job of capturing the facial features of Jabba's guard. In fact, I remember thinking someone needed to get those guys a handkerchief with their excessive drooling problem, and they did a superb job with the lacquer around the face and mouth. I also really appreciated having the helmet armor removable, simply because if one was to buy multiples, this would be an easy way to give each guard distinct features.

The outfit is also a work of art with details you can see right down to the last stitch.  The body is much larger to the Hasbro predecessor, in fact if you put them side-to-side, the Hasbro version is shorter and fatter. They really seemed to get the scale right, even though I was a tad under whelmed by the size of the box. I was looking for something like the Kit Fisto package, as many of you remember how big that was.

The choice of weapons were pretty neat as well.  You can go with the traditional vibro-ax or vibro-lance. Once again Sideshow delivered on giving us two sets of hands that actually serve good purpose. I found using the right hand that comes packaged with the left alternate hand you could display him with both weapons.  It can be a bit of a pain to switch up the hands, but they're not too much of an issue. However there is one thing that I found bothersome, and that is the excessive articulation in the ankles.  It seems like they can go one way or the other causing the figure to topple over because he is a bit top-heavy. I think they could have limited the degree a little bit, and I think this might be the first review I've every written where I said something was over-articulated!

In any case if you are a Sideshow 1/6th scale collector from the very beginning, this figure is a welcome addition to your Jabba's Palace diorama. If it's one of your first Sideshow figures, you'll have a companion very soon in the form of the Gartogg Gamorrean Guard. It seems they are wasting no time getting their money out of this mold! In close, this is a great figure but you really have to wonder if one hundred thirty plus dollars is worth the extra details when you compare it to the thirty-forty dollar version Hasbro put out back in the 02-03 Saga Collection. In fact, I will still display the Hasbro version in my Jabba's Palace, as it doesn't look too off alongside the rest of the Sideshow figures.
