INTRODUCTION
"A weapon they are. Obey orders without question for good or ill. For now they fight for us. Who is to say what the future holds?"  -Yoda

Sideshow Collectibles first armored figure from Episode two was the basic white Clone Trooper. This clone known otherwise as the Phase 1 Clone is fresh off the line clean. Like other armored figures from Sideshow it has the nice hard plastic armor that makes them pop on the shelf.

This seemed like a good time to review the all white Phase 1 Clone with a second albeit blue Phase 1 Clone being announced as a Comic-Con Exclusive. So with this review we'll give you the reader a chance to know what to expect if you pick this guy up or wait for the color variant in July.

PACKAGING:
The Clone Trooper comes in the same box style that so many figures in this line come in. The design is great and keeps the figures quite safe but as a fan of these figures I would like to see LFL allow Sideshow to change up the outside design. The inside of the box has just the single display panel since the clone doesn't come with as many items as previous figures. That being said the figure is well protected and will make it to your door without issue.

SCULPT:
Unlike the clones from Episode III where some folks had issues with the helmet sculpt the one for the Phase 1 Clone came out perfect. There is no doubt when looking at this compared to what you saw on screen or in the pickiest picture available that the helmets match up. The markings along the side match up and the spacing in the visor area matches up quite nicely. The hands are quite well done and the sculpting done on the armor is just fantastic.

PAINT:
There really is no real area that needs to be painted on this Clone. The armor is done in a white hard plastic which came out just fine. His visor area is the only painted area and mine was done exceptionally well with the lines being nice and crisp.

ARTICULATION:
The articulation with the clone overall is pretty well done and what I would imagine you could do in the same type of armor. There where a few poses I found a pain to hold or get exactly how I wanted but my main issue was the hands didn’t want to really work with some poses or felt like they wanted to come out of his arms. That I think is more with the armor getting in the way or maybe a slight redesign of the forearm armor needed.

ACCESSORIES:
There was no exclusive for this clone so only one grading option this time. This clone comes with the normal stand, an extra set of hands, a carbine blaster, and a long rifle. My issues here with the number of items is I’d like to see a few more hands added in for some more combination of poses and maybe another weapon of some kind. Delve into the Expanded Universe if needed and give us something.

OUTFIT:
Sideshow has shown they with the help of Hot Toys can handle the armor area quite nicely! The ROTS Clones that came out before this along with Obi-Wan demonstrated this without issue. While the clean look isn’t my preference on how I like my troopers the armor looks great. The detail in the armor is great and holds up well being a clean clone as well as the detail in the belt area looking pretty realistic. The helmet is also pretty sharp with the details in the visor area and crown area of the helm looking great. You can see in all these aspects how it translates into what the Clones would look like in Episode III.

VALUE:
I would love to see another set of hands or another weapon that would push the value for me to a 10. That being said this figure is very well worth the coin you will plop down for him. Between the nice clean sculpt of the armor, the level of quality in the armor, and what you do get it is a solid nine. Plus you have to compare what you get and how nice it is to say the Medicom versions, which came in at $60 more.

OVERALL:
Plain and simple I love what Sideshow is doing with the armored figures! There is no drop off at all with any of these figures and in fact I think the Phase 1 Clone in production looks better than what we saw at Comic-Con last July. As I stated earlier I would like to see a bit more with this figure as far as hands or weapons, and maybe a bit of a tweak so the hands work a bit better. However, if you have a chance to add this figure to your Clone collections do not hesitate to order this figure.
