INTRODUCTION
With Frito-Lays introducing their new pizza flavor of potato chips they also offered a Star Wars
mail-away figure. A great marketing ploy to get the Star Wars fans to purchase lots of these not so tasty chips.
Later other flavors of Frito-Lays potato chips offered the Mail-Away Spirit of
Obi-Wan.
After you purchased your pizza flavored potato chips or other and mailed in your $1.99 offer to
Frito-Lays you received a cardboard envelope package that had the Spirit of
Obi-Wan inside. Along with the figure some but not all packages came with one of a variety of coupons:
A: $5.00 off selected Star Wars vehicles
B: $5.00 Kenner Cash
C: $2.50 off any Star Wars action figure
D: B'omarr Monk coupon (same as the one you can get directly from Kenner
E: Pop-Up Cantina coupon (No Sandtrooper action figure included).
With the head and arms placed in smooth sockets on the solid translucent blue body little articulation was offered. A big problem with the figure is that the head and arms would keep falling off. It was just best to let old Ben Kenobi stand there and tell Luke to go to the Dagobah system.
