INTRODUCTION
Tauntauns are a species of snow lizard found roaming the wind swept
snow plains of the planet Hoth. Though tauntauns are sure-footed and
well equipped to handle Hoth’s daytime temperature, the chilling
extremes of a Hoth night will prove deadly. Has Solo was called to
ride a tauntaun on a search and rescue mission after Luke Skywalker
went missing while on a routine patrol. Little did the Rebels know
that Luke was attacked by a Wampa and taken back to its cave.
Han Solo found the half frozen Luke and at the same time Han Solo’s
tauntaun froze to death. Han Solo place Luke inside the now deceased
creature.
This highly detailed statue, based on the original Lucasfilm
costumes and props use in “The Empire Strikes Back”, was sculpted
and painted by Gentle Giant Ltd. It remarkable in detail as was the
Luke Skywalker on tauntaun. The tauntaun is one of my favorite
creatures from the Star Wars Saga and I can say that I feel Gentle
Giant Ltd. once again did a remarkable job.
Everything from the snow base, the fur on the Tauntuan, to Han
Solo’s controversial color of his coat is replicated very well. This
statue looks great standing next to Luke Skywalker on his tauntaun.
