INTRODUCTION

If you've read the Crimson Empire comic series, one of the most memorable scenes was when Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine showed up to see how the guard training was going. Naturally, it resulted in Darth Vader kicking the snot out of the trainees.

Training the bodyguards for the galaxy's elite ruler is no easy task especially when he stops by to see how you're doing. This set of action figures brings the training of the Emperor's Royal Guard to life for the first time! These elite warriors were given intense training, specialized uniforms, and a unique insignia on their helmet and then they were instructed to fight to the death. Taken straight from the pages of Dark Horse Comics' Crimson Empire series, these guards-to-be are ready for anything! They're not afraid to kill for their leader and for the glory of his Empire, so don't get in the way or you will regret it!

This boxed set contains six action figures, each of which features accessories from the comic (except for the Emperor, his lightsaber is just a bonus).

The four training figures are cobbled together from various action figures and are not really able to have much movement with their limited articulation. I would think if these are characters who are in training, Hasbro would have made them more articulated but in this day saving money and cutting corners seems to be Hasbro's way for the time being. At least two of the figures (Lemmet Tauk and Alum Frost) have new head sculpts while Kir Kanos and Carnor Jax just reuse their head sculpts from the past comic book release. The Darth Vader and Emperor are just repacks of past figures.

This set includes the following:
-Emperor Palpatine with lightsaber
-Darth Vader with lightsaber
-Lemmet Tauk (maroon/red) with battle staff
-Kir Kanos (yellow) with battle staff
-Alum Frost (orange) with battle staff
-Carnor Jax (blue) with battle staff

Overall is this set worth it? I being a fan of the Crimson Empire series of comic books would say yes since they are technically four new figures that we have not had before and it is nice to see Hasbro making sets like this instead of just staying with the six core movies. A little variety is nice to have in the Star Wars universe.
