INTRODUCTION
The most powerful surviving member of the Jedi, Luke Skywalker was raised in secret on the remote planet of Tatooine and only discovered his true Jedi heritage thanks to
Obi-Wan Kenobi's intervention. Trained in the ways of the Force and gifted with his father's lightsaber, Luke quickly surpassed all expectations
- rescuing his twin sister Leia Organa, destroying the insidious Death Star, locating and training with the reclusive Jedi Master Yoda, confronting Darth Vader and even
single-handedly defeating a vicious rancor beast.
As powerful and capable as he was, Luke Skywalker remained tormented by his
father's transformation into Darth Vader and struggled to come to terms with what he knew must be done. Finally confronting his father along with the immensely powerful Emperor Palpatine, Luke Skywalker utilized his growing Force powers and his love for his father to successfully sway Vader from the Dark
Side's thus in turn costing Anakin Skywalker his life. With the Sith threat presumed to be over, Luke Skywalker began the task of forming a New Jedi Order.
This nineteen-inch Ultimate Quarter Scale of Luke Skywalker as seen in
"The Return Of The Jedi" includes his new green bladed Jedi Lightsaber, Bone from the Rancor pit, two interchangeable hands,
fully-layered cloth outfit with Cloak, standard display stand as well as electronic sounds and phrases from the movie!
The only main gripe I have on this Luke Skywalker doll is the head. From the beginning Diamond Select sculptors have had an issue of getting the likeness down of Mark Hamill who is Luke Skywalker. With many variations and tweaking to get the sculpt down Diamond Select missed the mark. To me it looks like Luke Skywalker is sick and about to hurl. Though the head sculpt somewhat resembles Luke Skywalker I feel that there could have been more effort into really making it look more like Luke Skywalker.
I guess it's good to know Hasbro isn't the only one to mess it up.
Like all the Quarter Scale Dolls the torso is still over weight making the doll top heavy. The joints all though there are 23 of them, seem to be weak and do not really hold a pose for very long.
The accessories are great! It is about time more items are being included with these dolls. Not only do you get
Luke's signature Jedi lightsaber, you get two interchangeable hands, a bone from the Rancor pit and his cloak. The accessories really give you something to
work with and give you a vast amount of suggestions to display this doll.
The only problem with the accessories is the lightsaber. Though it looks fantastic, there is no triangle loop on the lightsaber so Luke cannot hang it on his belt.
Overall it is not a bad piece. I really wish the head sculpt could have been better but like the rest of this line, it makes a nice addition to any Star Wars
collection.
