INTRODUCTION
Perhaps the most powerful Sith Lord to ever exist, Emperor Palpatine used the Dark Side of the Force to manipulate an entire galaxy into serving him. Already a Chancellor of the Republic, Palpatine secretly manipulated the Confederacy of Independent Systems and used both groups to further expand his executive power and initiate the devastating Clone Wars. The resulting formation of the Galactic Empire provided Palpatine with all the power and military forces needed to rule to galaxy.
Highly skilled in the ways of the Dark Side, Palpatine adopted the name Darth Sidious and trained a number of apprentices including both Darth Maul and Darth Vader. His Force powers included the devastating Force Lightning, Hypnotic Persuasion and the near-unstoppable Force Storm. Only Mace Windu was ever able to match
Palpatine's extreme skill with a lightsaber, with Jedi Master Yoda managing to bring the Sith Lord to a draw.
This nineteen-inch Ultimate Quarter Scale of Emperor Palpatine is the seventh doll to be included in this line. Based on his appearance as seen in
"Return Of The Jedi" Palpatine comes with his cane, a set of Force gesture hands, standard display stand,
fully-layered cloth outfit and phrases from the movie.
I have to say that this is the best Ultimate Quarter Scale doll to date. Not only are the joints nice and tight, the body does not lean over from being top heavy from the batteries. It looks like Diamond Select finally fixed these problems and it is about darn time.
The sculpting of Palpatine's head is very good and creepy. As for accessories what can you really give the Emperor? You get his cane and a set of Force gesture hands. I think it would have been neat for some Force Lightning or maybe Luke Skywalker Lightsaber hilt but oh well. Like I said this doll is a big winner in my opinion and will be a great addition to any Star Wars collection.
