SAN DIEGO
COMIC-CON EXCLUSIVE
SanDiego Exclusive 2006 through Entertainment Earth
$30.00 each at ComicCon, $34.99 after ComicCon
Entertainment Earth Celebrates 30 years of Star Wars with their
Exclusive Star Wars Chaykin Mini Comic Poster Sculpture. Sculpture
measures 6 1/4-inch tall x 4-inch wide. Modeled after the first-ever
Star Wars Comic-Con exclusive poster from 1976. Ironically this
piece is limited to only 1,976 pieces.
In 1976, Lucasfilm went to San Diego's Comic-Con International to
promote a little movie called Star Wars. Nobody ever heard of it,
fans had no idea what a lightsaber would be, and star Mark Hamill
was on hand to promote the then-mysterious unknown space movie due
out a year later. In addition to fans getting a first glimpse at the
project, they also were able to buy one of the first-ever pieces of
Star Wars merchandise. A limited edition poster by comic book artist
Howard Chaykin, who went on to adapt the film for Marvel Comics,
sold for just $1.00 featuring Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Han Solo,
Obi-Wan Kenobi, and of course Luke Skywalker, this scene captures
the action and intensity of a movie that, at the time, the world had
never seen.
Code 3 has taken steps in reproducing the poster into a full
3-dimensional work of art. From every angle this piece jumps out at
you just as the original poster did.
