Trooper Tim Reports:

"Hey Troops,

Went to my local TRU last weekend and found a lot of the 25th Anniversary figures sitting around. It might be that they are charging $18.99 for them, I don't know. They also had about six of the royal starships that were in pretty good condition going for $49.99 and bacta tank Luke warming the pegs. I didn't see any shelf tag for the AT-ST yet but I'm looking. That's it for now, MTFBWY!"

Hey Troopers,

I hope everyone was fortunate enough to secure themselves a toy fair vader or two from the fan club on the weekend. I managed to pre-order 2 and the extra one IS spoken for already. I talked to customer service rep John today and was told they had 4,000 of these available and that they sold out in less than 27 hrs! He mentioned that it was highly unlikely anyone managed to order more than 2 (under the same email address) although you could have possibly ordered 4 as there was a limit of 2 per day and 4 per week. If anyone did get to order more than 2 PLMK (just curious). I was also told that they have no idea if they will get any more but to just keep checking back. I do hope more become available because I know alot of people missed out on it. BTW, a big thanks to Vaughn for posting that they were available (and the link). I might have missed out if not for him as I was out of town and just by chance happened to check out Sandtroopers and saw his post. Nice job on the Sith Channel too. Check it out for yourself!

On a side note, I managed to score all 3 Anniversary 2-packs in tri-logo packaging at TRU in the Toronto, Canada area. However they were a little steep at $24.99 CAN plus tax (approx $19 US). Oh well, atleast we got them unlike the FX-7 and Zutton waves. Still waiting HASBRO.

"Hey Troopers ,

Jimsjedi here from Auburn, Mass. Nothing new lately, just waiting on the sneak preview figures to start popping up. I want to know if anyone can help me. I'm looking for a Star Wars mouse for my PC. I saw these about 4 years ago at Disney. I didn't get one since back then I had no PC. I know they had Vader, C-3P0, Stormtrooper, and I think R2. Any info will be much appreciated. You can reach me at jimsjedi@aol.com. Also, my lists of wants and haves is still posted at the Trade page, It really hasn't changed that much. Check it out if you want."

Trooper Brian reports:

"Hey Guys,

I was just doing some stuff around the house and had Episode 1 on for background noise. When I glanced at the screen what did I find? C-3P0's gold coverings in Watto's junk shop! This is so cool! If you want to find it, go to the part where Anakin and Padme are talking and Jar Jar activates the pit droid. (This is much easier on the DVD since it has higher resolution and better pausing.) When Jar jar is nosing around the pit droid, you will see a very familiar golden head on the left side of the screen. When he actually does activate the pit droid, it knocks down the droid 'skins'. The left leg on the 3P0 is missing from the knee down which would explain threepio's silver one in the classic trilogy! Cool eh? Check it out! MTFBWY!!!!"

Trooper Nate reports:

"Hey everyone,

I'm new to this webpage, but so far it's helped a lot. Not much to report from the Portland, Or area. There are a ton of the Ketwols, X-Wing Lukes, Vader Emperors Wraths, and all 3 Deluxe figs but nothing to special. Although the Deluxes are only $9.99 at the great K-Mart. I do have a few of the gigantic Royal Starship playsets that I want to trade. I have one up for auction, but I would much rather trade it to help out my personal collection. If anyone wants to trade gimme an offer. I would really like to complete my red card collection, but I'll listen to anything."

Trooper YGL reports:

"Hey, folks.

Young George Lucas reporting from the Kansas City metro area again. I hope everybody scored a couple of those Toy Fair Vaders from the Fan Club. As of right now, Saturday at 12:22 p.m., they still have 'em- so if you haven't bought one yet, better hurry! Those who paid $300 plus on eBay are no doubt seeking psychiatric help about now. A big YGL "thumbs up" to Hasbro and the new Fan Club for doing this FOR THE FANS! Also, for those in the Kansas City area- the Union Station is currently hosting the exhibit entitled "Behind the Screen". It features a look at the making of films and television. In addition to a look behind the scenes of movie making, the exhibit features two pieces from "STAR WARS" make-up master Stuart Freeborn's collection: a Yoda puppet and a Chewbacca costume head. The exhibit runs from now 'til May 12. I'm there!"

SWAMPTROOPER REPORT

HELLO EVERYONE!! BOY HAVE THINGS REALLY COME TO A HALT DOWN IT THE SWAMPLANDS!! I HAVE YET TO SEE THE KOTH/ZUTTON FIGS ON THE PEGS. I KNOW THAT THEY HAVE MADE IT DOWN HERE BUT I HAVEN'T SEEN THEM. TRU HAS FINALLY GOTTEN THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY VADER VS. OBI WAN BUT AT $17.00. NOTHING NEW ANYWHERE ELSE!! I DID HOWEVER, NOTICE THE WAL-MART LOCATED IN BAKER HAD SOME OLDER STUFF FOR SALE. ONE THING THAT STRUCK MY INTEREST WAS A MODEL FOR A STAR DESTROYER FROM 1982, STILL IN SHRINK WRAP WITH A FADED BOX. I CHECKED THE PRICE AND IT WAS $7.00 AS WAS ALL THE MODELS THEY HAD ON DISPLAY. THEY ALSO HAD SOME ACTION COLLECTION 12" FIGURES FOR $12. THAT IS IT!!!! I PRE-ORDERED MYSELF A TOY FAIR VADER TODAY, I BET WHEN THE PEOPLE WHO ARE BIDDING ON THESE OVER AT EBAY FIND OUT THEY CAN GET ONE FOR $14.99 (YOU KNOW THEY ARE NOT FAN CLUB MEMBERS) THEY WON'T PAY THE HIGH BID AND TAKE THE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK!! I THINK I MAY TELL A FEW, IT WILL MAKE MY DAY. I'D LIKE TO THANK VAUGHN FOR KEEPING UP WITH THIS FOR US, PROVIDING THE EASY LINK STRAIGHT TO THE FIGURE...YOU ROCK!! NOW, IF EVERYONE WILL JUST BE PATIENT, WE SHOULD ALL BE ABLE TO PICK UP THE ATOC FIGURES WHEN RELEASED WITHOUT PAYING THE SCALPERS ON EBAY. OH, ONE MORE THING. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN ONE OF THE STAR WARS SITES INVOLVED IN SCALPING THE TOY FAIR VADER (THAT INFO WAS POSTED ON OUR SITE )A WEEK OR SO AGO, I USED TO ALWAYS VISIT THAT SITE....NEVER AGAIN. THATS IT FROM THE COONTROOPERS IN THE SWAMPS!!

I wonder if those people are kicking themselves....Keep up the great work! Sandtroopers rule!"

Trooper YGL reports:

"Hey, folks. Young George Lucas reporting from the Kansas City metro area. Still nothing new in the K.C. area- but I feel compelled to vent (again). Last week I was griping about the whole hubbub surrounding the Toy Fair Vaders on eBay. This week I have a new beef: the "pre-selling" of "Attack of the Clones" toys on eBay. People, people...please don't pay ridiculous inflated prices for merchandise that you don't even receive until April! By the time you actually receive the stuff you bought on eBay-you could have purchased it at a store near you- AT RETAIL PRICE! These toys will be EVERYWHERE come April 23! Don't buy that scalper B.S. about these toys being made in very limited numbers- it ain't true! Even if Hasbro made 1/2 the number of each figure they cranked out for "Episode I"- there would be STILL be plenty to go around!

I believe that people have the right to do these stupid pre-sells, but a lot of them are intentionally misleading in their listings (just like SOME of the people selling Toy Fair Vaders are doing). If you do bid on "AOTC" stuff, read the listing carefully to make sure the item listed is IN HAND!"

Trooper Dennis Reports:

"Dennis in Nashville sending a report for us variation collectors. This may be old news but I have found a variation of the deluxe Leia/Sail Barge. So far I have only seen four out of about 100 I've probably seen (all around town) of this variation. And so far, it's only been at Target. First, the card number reads: 06080250200, no decimal points. The staff Leia is holding is tilted down on the back end much more than the standard version (therefore the top being pointed up higher). Even the bubble is designed for it. There is gold paint missing from one of the curved bars that come out of the lower right side of the round disk on the side of the cannon, the top one to be specific. I have only seen the one with the missing paint AND the staff variation and 3 that just have the staff variation.

Aside from the deluxe figures I have not seen any new waves in large quantities since Ketwol, I have managed to get all waves since then by shopping through 10 different stores-how sad is that? I have more luck now finding variation things, micro-sabers and older figures that were hard to find originally. I have seen Sandtroopers and Biker Scouts in a few places but of course have been snatched up already. We have some stinking dealer that buys what he wants to sell in his store and damages the cards of what he leaves. Anyway, happy hunting!"

"Hey, folks.

Young George Lucas reporting from the Kansas City metro area. Nothing new in stores here in some time, but the flood gates should open up soon! The reason for this report is, in regard to the (now infamous) Toy Fair Exclusive Darth Vader, there is A NEW HOPE. I spoke to a gentleman at the Official Fan Club this morning. He told me that they would be receiving this figure. He wasn't sure exactly when- or how many- but it will be there! Also, it seems -contrary to what OTHERS have said (no names, please)- this will be the SAME figure and SAME packaging from the Toy Fair! If the Fan Club gets a load of these in, those people who shelled out 200-300 bucks on eBay will be singing the blues! But to quote Willy Wonka: "Maybe they'll be a little wiser."."

"Lex-wan here with an question about the .0000 POTJ figs, there is only one so far that I have noticed that Hasbro did like this and I don't know if they ever corrected it .One of the first POTJ figs ever the Obi-wan young on the .0000 card, his picture on the back is of the EP1 soft goods Obi not the young Jedi Obi which should be on the back I'm sure everyone knows about it just wanted to toss it up in the air and see what comes down with it. The TRU in Allentown PA has got about 25 Obi-Vader 25th anniversary sets warming the shelves and they got in 2 cases of POTJ repacks 84455 000 13 which have some gungan warriors, bespin guards, ketwol, ect. But every Wal-mart in the area seemed to get in about 2 days ago 2 to 3 cases each of the R2-Q5 wave of course R2's are all gone (probably a scalper). Can anyone confirm the release date of the pre-movie figs(Jango,R3-T7, ect) the rumor is March 16th I think please let me know. Also I almost forgot the TRU in Reading PA got in one case of the Simpson's celeb figs the best one is Fat Tony, the look on his face is hysterical any troy McClure is 2nd best and Herb Powell comes in 3rd but there're all great figs. happy hunting ."

While ebay may not be the place to get recent Star Wars stuff but for vintage collectibles, you can get some interesting deals.  One auction I won was for a Tri-logo Anakin Skywalker MOC.Using the Buy it now feature,I scored it for an amazing $43.00.  Some people wanted $79-$100 of it.  Evidently, the person selling it bought the POTF Anakin for $2,000 and he didn't really know the value of the Anakin figure he put up for auction.  So there you have it.  Take care."

Dark Journey and comic news

Hey Troops, it has been a while since my last post. Our new baby has been a handful and I haven't had much time to think about, let alone post, Star Wars news. With all the new images popping up for EP 2 toys, this sure is an exciting time. There was some new news posted at starwars.com. The 1st trade paperback reprint of the original Marvel series is going to be released on June 5! They also have announced a few changes. There will be 8 issues now instead of the three they originally announced, that should save on the cost of the individual paperback. However, the biggest news about it is they announced it is going to be in color! I was so excited to hear this! They were originally going to be black and white. The post said they were going to be re-colored, so let's hope that turns out well. I can't wait. On another note. I finally started Dark Journey by Elaine Cunningham. I am about 1/4 of the way through the book. I should have my review by late next week or early the following week, depending on how much reading my new baby lets me do. Until next time.

"Hey, folks. Young George Lucas reporting from Overland Park, Kansas (Kansas City area). Not much new stuff here. Target's have many Deluxe Leia and Shmi Skywalker, and Wal-Mart's have figures from the time Truman was President. Yaaawn. However, there is great stuff headed our way soon: Teebo wave, TIE Bomber, AT-ST, Snowspeeder, "Episode II Preview Figures" and last but not least...The "Attack of the Clones" merchandise blow-out in April!

Also, kudos to this site for the chance to get a free Toy Fair Darth Vader! Yippee!  Hopefully the STAR WARS Fan Club will have these available soon- in the same exact Toy Fair packaging."

Trooper Eric reports:

"Hey Troops,

In a continuing effort to clean out things in my collection that I don't need before my wedding, I currently have a few items that are selling on E-bay for outrageous prices. They are.....(drum roll)...the Star Wars Trilogy S.E. on VCD. these are fullscreen, double disc sets, each in their own case. The packaging is very nice on these! The video and sound quality is about equal to the VHS but these will obviously stand up to 100 years + of playing and take up less room. I am asking $30 which will include shipping. That works out to be .....let's see..........I think $10 a disc. (I know you know that I'm kidding) Read the instruction book on your DVD player and make sure it plays VCD's before you buy them. The other is the Original version Trilogy DVD set. These are letterboxed versions and it includes the original trailers! And for those of you that only speak and understand Mandarin, you can here it in your own language! The pictures on the front and back covers are pretty cheesy, but funny. I am asking $40 for this set which will include shipping as well. I'm glad I can use an avenue like this instead of the dreaded E-Bay to offer things to people who really like collecting this stuff but don't want to get hornswaggled (I think I spelled that right) by people who just want to make a buck. You guys are all awesome. Thanks for all the responses. Take care troops!"

Hey Troops,

Well some bad things happened today...  I was surfing around and was shocked to see that a representative of one of the "leading star wars sites" has decided to auction off "someone elses" exclusive toyfair Vader (here).  Ive been hinting about a special giveaway from our site.  Well, let the suspense end...

Sandtroopers WILL be GIVING AWAY (not selling) a Toy Fair Exclusive Vader.  Keep your eyes on the site for the launch of the contest later this week.

"Just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that the custom that is on (pegarmer) was stolen, along with the rest of my collection valued at around $60,000. I had recently placed my collection in a (what I thought was secure) indoor storage facility. Apparently having only one way in and one way out, and having to use your access card twice to open the doors didn't matter to these crooks. U-haul has denied any wrongdoing since I didn't buy and use one of their locks to put on the door. Only problem with that is that the crooks cut the door around the locking mechanism leaving my lock laying on the ground. Here's the kicker...one of U-hauls district managers did a walk through on the facility and found my lock on the ground, proceeded to pick it up and open my now unlocked storage unit, and put the lock in it.....2 weeks before I came back to find everything gone. Do you think I even received so much as a phone call....nope. I encourage all collectors to not use U-haul. They will use every means they can to not pay you anything if something gets stolen from you while you are renting one of their units. If anyone sees my custom jango on Ebay or for sale anywhere else please email me at JediMike@cableaz.com

Hope you are able to get your stuff back!

I HAVE STARTED COLLECTING STEINS THOUGH, FOUND SOME REALLY COOL ONES ON EBAY (OF ALL PLACES). I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANY OF YOU TROOPERS OUT THERE COLLECT STEINS AND IF YOU DO, EMAIL ME tracy@sandtroopers.com  SO I CAN GET YOUR TAKE ON WHATS OUT THERE, WHAT'S HARD TO FIND ECT... I HOPE EVERYONE REALIZES THERE IS ONLY ABOUT 99 DAYS UNTIL EPII OPENS, BETTER START PLANNING ON SPACE FOR ALL THE NEW TOYS!! WELL THAT'S ABOUT ALL FROM DOWN DA BAYOU!! HAVE A GOOD DAY!

"Hey guys I haven't written in a while as there isn't much going on in my area right now. I have a few questions that you or some other troopers might be able to answer. I recently purchased a lot of 40 POTF carded figures on ebay (I know, but $70 isn't much to pay for 40 figs) The lot contained quite a few variations( Red Card Luke Brown Vest, Open hand Han Hoth, Long saber luke, and a few of the green card "Marie" variations). My question concerns a red card Sandtrooper and a green card Luke in stormtrooper desguise. Both of them have regular stormtrooper foil stickers on them. What I want to know is are they considered variations or just errors?"  Check out the picture here.
