Click thumbnail for large imageCastle: Once again, Hasbro "delights" us with another version of the iconic villain of the Star Wars Universe, Darth Vader. This figure, basically a re-paint of the Vader figure from the A New Hope 30th Anniversary Tin Collection, which itself was a repack/retooling of the Darth Vader figure included in the Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader Evolutions set. Why does Hasbro think we need so many versions of Darth Vader? |
Click thumbnail for large imageThis figure is a repack of the tin set, as I've already mentioned, with the no obvious differences from the tin figure at first glance. The only real difference is that the switches and buttons on Vader's chest plate have a slightly different paint scheme this time around. The problem I have with this - the same problem I had with the Evolutions Vader - is that the face is too.... clean to be Anakin. Let's face it, Ani got burnt up pretty bad on Mustafar. Bad enough that the only way he could survive was to have a suit built to contain his body. This head just looks too young to me. |
Click thumbnail for large imageThe added accessories that make this a "must have" for your collection are the Obi-Wan cloak that's laying flat on the ground after Darth Vader kills him in A New Hope. Or should I say after Obi-Wan sacrifices himself to Vader. And let's not forget that all important shiny new coin that you just have to have for your album. You just have to keep asking yourself, do you really need this? You wonder why they didn't at least attempt to get the length on the disco chain right after all these years? |

Castle - If you can skip the coin and silly cloak "accessory", you can certainly pass on this Vader. If you're like most Star Wars collectors, you already have it. At least twice. |
