Spice: I realize sometimes I'm a little too vocal in these reviews and quite often I beg for the release for figures such as Umpass-Stay. The over supply of Han Solo and Darth Vader can sometimes make a collector delusional and maybe I should clarify: these characters should only be made if done perfectly. This way we don't need to worry about improving a sculpt on a character who saw seconds of screen time.  Upon first inspection of Umpass-Stay you wouldn't have a clue. It's only when you get Jabba's lead percussionist from the package you expose the major flaw. We won't focus on the negative, and let's start with some of the features that make this figure possibly worth purchasing.

Since we only saw this character briefly it's really hard to say whether or not they nailed the likeness down for sure. We do have a couple other Klatoonian figures to compare him to but I have to say this may be the most detailed facial sculpt yet for this species. Perhaps it's the removable hood that provides that extra detail to steer my thinking in that direction. I really do appreciate the extra effort put into the costume. You really get the feel of a pirate from this outfit and almost think he would belong on a Sail Barge. The somewhat difficult to remove tunic is a really nice touch as far as the additional detail that went into this mold. The rolling elbows which I usually hate are rescued nicely by some serious shoulder articulation.

So where did they go wrong? This was a really excellent figure until you get below the belt. I simply can't believe they wouldn't add articulation to the knees. Even though you can still get the figure to stand up, you really wish they could have gone the extra mile. They had the foresight to make sure to add movement to the ankles but for some reason the collector is left grabbing for theirs as multi-million dollar Hasbro sticks it to the Star Wars fan, for the sake of saving a buck. Unbelievable! We have a perfect accessory but if you notice it appears as if there should be another piece to fit on the back of the drum. We can only hope the other half is down the line with a fan favorite like Yarna d'al' Gargan who fans have been asking to be made for years.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Spice - The problem with the knees wasn't bad enough to leave me on a sour note. Figures like Umpass-Stay are necessary as the collector looks ahead to complete their collections with every figure they've never seen made. I personally enjoy these characters even though most of them tend to turn into pegwarmers within the first few weeks of release.
