Spice: The T.A.C. Collection revisits the Super Battle Droid for the eighth figure in the series and initially I could have cared less about seeing the over-sized, however just as easy to destroy "super" version.  The art is once again very slick and when you get good look, you'll know for sure it's a keeper, and you'll probably want one or two for sure. However is this something you already own or really need? Let's break down this mega-beast and you'll see the only thing the people at Hasbro left out was hydraulic oil!

Can we get just a fraction more red plastic? Click thumbnail for large image
One of the first things I noticed was the lack of definition in the face. It is very difficult to see the eyes, but I guess I can live with this seeing as we don't have anything like a commtech chip to hear that clothes pin on the nose wimpy sounding voice! The other thing I noticed they changed was having the flames come off the right hand blaster; this is something I feel they could have left in for a little more red plastic. It does make me happy to see they left out the interchangeable arm that although was a better play feature for kids, left the figure off-balance and prone to hitting the deck. I couldn't stand those things on the come apart Saga versions. To summarize, if they were going to pack with no sort of weapon, a little more flame could have went a long way here.

On a roll in more ways than one! Click thumbnail for large image
The thing I really liked the most was the rotation on the torso and the elbow joints. You can position this version to wipe out incoming Republic Gunships, or combine him with R2-D2 (#4) to create the exact scene from the movie. I really do think this is something they should explore and really look to do more, thus you'd really be killing two Jawa's with one shot if you could move the more undesirable figure that you needlessly created again, but I'll save that review for the R2-D2! This is the exact opposite, if you revisit the character, then do your best to tweak it and make it that much better. I can't even really complain about the holes in the chest since the action feature is so cool!

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Spice - I really think its figures like this that make it worth every cent. Super quality and superior design are really accented but not entirely seen all the way around. I acknowledge they could have done much worse, and this guy is no doubt worth your hard earned dollar. Just barely!

+   It's great to see some very solid changes were made!
-  Just a little bit more flame would have set off the right handed blaster so much more..
+    The flames and combo feature is great!
+    You can always use one or two more Super Battle Droids in your army!
