It is not very clear what happened
at the end of wave seven but it is pretty safe to say they were having a brain
fart of some sort since this figure would follow right behind the Spirit of
Anakin. While we have not seen R2-D2 released with a cargo net or the transport
restraint the Ewoks used, it just doesn't seem like this is something they put a
whole lot of creativity into. How many times will we have to have the vintage
Original Trilogy R2 mold jammed down our throats? |
Click thumbnail for large image What
is so troubling is they packed him in with the cargo net and other accessories
but they failed to include the razor saw that would free the Endor landing party
from the net! It's not like they would even have to create new pieces because we
know that it was included with the original release. While I really like the sensor scope
that pops up and down with the head turning, it just irks me to the point of
rage the third leg is not retractable. The only other highlight is the light
port which I've always admired when Hasbro uses translucent plastic the right
way. |

only other minor change the made was a simple dusting of green paint along with
some speckles of dirt. I did really like the fact the restraints fit just snug
enough to work. I really wouldn't have a hard time buying this, if I knew there
was some sort of Endor playset down the road that this cargo net would attach
to. Until then you might have to find an old Ewok village on Ebay if you have
any hopes of hanging up this net and putting it to use. Maybe it's the kid in me
that will never grow up, but when I see something like this cargo net, I think
of the countless times of snagging many innocent forms of "prey"
underneath my old playset , it's too bad the team at Hasbro isn't so nostalgic. |

Overall I just couldn't see paying for this figure unless you were
obsessed with having all sixty coins from the basic figures in your
thirtieth anniversary collection as I was. Had it not been for the
coin pack-in, this would be a very easy pass. If they aren't going to
give us every thing they could (like the saw), then put the extra accessories
into a separate pack instead of jamming another figure at us for the
sake of pushing something out the door. |

The cargo
net would have been great, if you had something to hook it up to? |

Why not just make an accessory
pack? |

At
least it wasn't just R2-D2, they tried to give us something extra. |
