Spice: Who could forget playing with their Luke Skywalker 12-back as a child and wishing you had him in the ceremony outfit? We have seen only one or two other attempts at Luke in this apparel back in the late nineties in the Power of the Force collection. Our friend Adam Pawlus at Galactic Hunter has also pointed out the version in the Princess Leia collection. Neither would compare to the newest incarnation. While I admit all he really did was walk down an aisle and stand in place during this scene, I expect a lot more out of an action figure. At least they saved the farm boy look for a future wave! Even though the previous version could be pending Balco investigation, the first thing you'll notice is the correct scale of this figure.

How can a kid from a planet with two suns look so pasty? Click thumbnail for large image
The one thing that jumped out at me right away was the skin color. I wonder how a kid from a planet with two suns could look so pasty white. Although I'm not sure the Medal of Yavin was the same one used with  General Dodonna, it sure does fit much better than the hoola hoop that was around the neck of the predecessor. Even though they missed on the skin color, the detail in the jacket are right on, you can easily see it is the finest the late 70's had to offer. I really do appreciate the fact it's a brand new figure but as bad as the sculpt on the Power of the Force figures were, they really didn't have a choice.

Who set Hasbro back with the complete overhaul? Click thumbnail for large image
I really like the way they put this one together. From top to bottom I really like everything they did with it. The shoulders, elbows and wrists will allow you to recreate any pose from the scene. The thing I really liked is they went the extra mile and you can do quite a bit with the legs. The accessories were top notch and I really do think they had the best of intentions but once again they failed to package Luke with the correct lightsaber handle. I completely missed this in my review of the VTSC X-Wing Luke. I'd have to argue that Hasbro should be paying more attention to detail.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Spice - I have to give this figure a thumbs up, for the simple fact it is such a great fit for the thirtieth celebration. The figure that was on the market and still pretty easy to find wasn't near as good as the latest Yavin Luke. You should have a pretty easy time finding this one and for most it should be a welcome addition.

+   Good solid choice for the T.A.C. collection.
-   Didn't Tatooine have two suns?
+    A very slick blaster/holster design.
+    This is ten times better than the Power of the Force mold.
