The first figure to switch
gears and give us a look at what the thirtieth anniversary could do for Return
of the Jedi is Luke Skywalker. As this figure has been done many, many times,
would this be the attempt in which Hasbro would be able to deliver the
proverbial slam-dunk? Upon first inspection, you'll immediately notice the
superb artwork that is on the card front. The likeness is almost scary but they
went the extra mile and included the famous battle pose with Darth Vader just
for good measures. It's pretty easy to see just from the package this figure is
loaded with something collectors love, options! |

off, you look at the facial sculpt and you begin to wonder how atrocities like
#18 got out of the factory. It almost looks like one of the sculptors showed
that version to this one judging from the ticked off look on his face! With such
a look of anger you almost wonder where they got the inspiration for this
sculpt. We all know how anger can lead to suffering. You can honestly say this
guy looks as tough as he can, for a guy with his hair parted off to the side!
The body hasn't changed much vs. previous versions with exception of the
articulated neck. One other great thing, to my delight they made sure to
put hands on that can hold a lightsaber. Thank the maker! |

thing I'm not so wild about is the implementation of the soft-goods to the
wardrobe. While they used most of the body from the previous OTC versions, I
just don't like the way this feature fits around his neck. It tends to turn into
more of a boa than a Jedi robe. I also really didn't care for the material they
used for the belt which I can only describe as appearing like electrical tape.
One nice thing is you can add the lightsaber handle to his waist, but if you
were going to add cloth, why not give him the entire robe? The paint job is
pretty decent but how hard is a black application? One major flaw is the blaster
wound to the right hand as the color of the paint is off. If you are going to go
through the trouble to add detail, why not make it a decent shade or color? |
FINAL
THOUGHTS:

Spice -
It just doesn't make any sense to revisit Return of the Jedi when you
have so many other previous versions of this figure. The resources
should be spent creating new figures that all Star Wars fans have been
begging for. I did like the fact they literally threw us a bone but it
just wasn't enough as you'll truly wonder if this one warrants your
seven dollars. |

Did they
finally get Luke right? |

You shouldn't need this many
attempts to get it right. |

It's
good to see the extra mile done on the facial sculpt. |
