Super-phat paying big tribute to the 12-back! Click thumbnail for large image
Spice: The second review from Wave II is such an iconic tribute to the original 12-back line it's ridiculous. When I think thirtieth anniversary collection it has a resculpt like this written all over it. Behold the Death Star Trooper, may the maker only hope they have made enough. I can really appreciate the artwork on the package, as it takes me right down memory lane and I immediately think of the Death Squad Commander. They have attempted this figure a couple of times in the Power of the Force line, and I remember also seeing a Target exclusive deluxe figure as well but neither would measure up to the latest version from the T.A.C. collection!

It is hard to believe we have come along so far with figure sculpting. We all recall the playmobile looking Death Squad Commander, of course we all loved it because it was all we knew. You almost laugh if you were to put the two next to each other. You really have to love the removable helmet feature here. This is the way all army builders should be made. There is nothing wrong with tons of articulation and a lot of detail in the paintjob. The dimples in the helmet, the wrinkles and creases in the uniform were well done. The fact you can move arms, legs, torso and neck is just the beginning. You get wrists and ankles and knees to help create many different poses.

It is easy to see they really put a lot of work into this. The removable helmet gives you more options as far as poses go. They didn't miss a trick, another highlight was the working holster. There wasn't too much you couldn't do other than put him into a sitting position. As that was the only thing I could find about the Death Star Trooper that I didn't like. It is a good thing they are packing him two per case right now, hopefully it won't be too hard to acquire.  You can only hope they realize how much more we enjoy purchasing something like this vs. a rehash. It would be nice to see them keep coming.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Spice - I have been really impressed with the military figures the T.A.C. line has featured so far. You factor in a release like this combined with the Honor Guard, you can see they are trying to appease the fans. I really do think you will enjoy adding this figure to your collections.

+   Things like this are keeping T.A.C. on the other side of whack!
-   If they could have only figured a way to make him sit, vehicles matter.
+    Unlimited pose potential!
+    A great and very welcome addition to your imperial army!
