"I am amazed we aren't doing a Chewbacca or Darth Vader review" - but Lama Su, a new figure, is up for review.

Spice: I was impressed to see Hasbro drop another new release in our laps, I am amazed we aren't doing a Chewbacca or Darth Vader review, but Lama Su is up for review and upon first look I have to say I'm impressed. I really don't dig the string bean Kaminoan look, and Lama Su didn't sound as seducing as Taun We, but I always can deal with a new figure. The paintwork was the first thing that grabbed my attention with him, even though the Kamino were all computer generated, dare I say Lama looked very real. Unlike a Jar Jar who maybe annoyed me so badly, I just couldn't believe he was real.

J - Kamino was my favorite environ in 'Attack of the Clones,' so cracking a Lama Su card bubble is something I can really dig too, I can almost here the rain wash music from the movie. And, yes, you're right Spice, Lama Su is no Taun We. I don't even get to say "Dad, Taun We's heee-yagggh." Well, maybe that's not such a stretch with with packed-in joker here who is roughly equivalent to young Boba missing a chromosome. Now, Lama Su. They made a figure look like the thing it looks like, also reminds me of Ray Fillet from Ninja Turtles. Except, there's something so static here, that it seems like this figure has the personality of a cold fish.

Spice - I will not however complain in any way, shape or form. A new figure is a new figure. It really helps to enhance the dioramas or dare I say the children's playroom with a figure as impressive as this. I have been combing kitchen stores looking for that perfect soup-like ladle to represent the chairs in which they sat in during their meeting. They did a real good job on this sculpt, right down to the Mohawk. I was always a big fan of that hair-do, or 'hair don't' as my mother referred to it. Lama Su is indeed a hit. So what if they put a new head on the Saga kid Boba? I'd rather have the Clone Boy than another repacked Boba Fett.

J - The bulging eye effect and lack of articulation are the only things I will scream about here. Otherwise we have a new figure, the salamander man who first told us of the way shady dealings of Sifo-Deyas, not bad. Taun We had some more detail packed into her tight body, but Lama Su completes the scene. Lama wasn't what I was really after in this pack though, it was actually the youth that caught my interest when this one was announced several months ago. Yes, you've got a retooled Saga kid with some funky headgear, but the face alone makes this one worth the six bucks - look at that sad hang-dogged expression, looks almost as pathetic as our buddy Chuckles from G.I. Joe. Whoever was responsible for throwing this one together, whether by some sculpting, or flipping the idiot switch on the REAL SCAN box, deserves to get paid.

Spice - I think it is cool to put in an extra figure instead of cheesy weapons that the character never used. For example, the Gungan staff that came with Saga Jar Jar Binks. This is what they should do with the figures they do not sell. Use the parts to create a different figure, not put in a new package and try to call the figure new. They kind of did the same with Lott Dod (arms), looks like they may have to do that again judging from the mass amounts of him that seem to haunt pegs all over the country. There are quite a few Neomoidians that they could make instead of cranking out worthless garbage.

Seattle Clones

J - We are usually in here on Sandwatch complaining about rehash, so I have to say that Hasbro gave us something fresh and cool. Now, for the obligatory rehash symposium, since you got my pencil moving, Spice, after bringing up those stunted slimy Neimoidians. These Troop Builder sets that Hasbro boasts could be enhanced by taking the POTJ Boomer Droids, repaint all or just two out of four in Geonosian ruddy red and voila, there's your "Battle Droid" Troop Builder set, something you might actually be willing to spend eighteen bucks on. Here you go again right here, jam four of these clone boys in an envelope and call it good, or better yet, make it six. Then you can make your Clone School scene and won't be stuck with a dozen extra Lama Sus.

Spice - Any of those ideas would be great ones J, that is probably why you don't work at Hasbro. It seems all of the good collecting ideas seem to come from the collectors themselves. Hasbro seems out of touch with what fans truly want. I was kind of hoping that they wouldn't have rights to keep making these things because sure they have done an okay job but it could have been so much better with some good old-fashioned creativity. If I knew anything I wouldn't be freelancing as a Sandtrooper and driving cement truck for a living! There are many good points to this figure however; I just wish they could keep cranking out fresh ideas, Owen, Beru, Clieg. There is so much they could make and don't.

J - I would like to have been there in the Hasbro model shop when they dremeled out and welded together mold pieces to get the Clone Youth figure out of the Saga kid Boba Fett, hopefully they used some stereolithography rapid-prototyping and didn't have to slash and burn. The lack moving parts and "blocko" style articulation removal are a let down, but I still can't rip this figure. I like Lama Su too, and when you check out this Clone tot you will remember that scene in the film when the whole gaggle of them are fiddling with their automated tests at Kamino Middle School and would you pleeeeeeassssssse SLAM DUNK those digits up on the big screen for me bruh? Oh my!

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Jason - In a bizarre twist, the accessory, in this case the Clone Youth, prompts me to bust ya in the face with the thumbs up.

Spice - I was impressed with this addition to my collection. I wish they could make us happy every time but the world is such an imperfect place. At least it isn't as bad as Kamino, a world of constant rain, now that would be depressing. That or another batch of POTJ resculpts. It was really easy to give these figures a thumbs up! Hopefully they will produce something like a builder kit of Clone boy, or even the non-armored Clone Troopers. That would be something.

+       I'll take extra figure vs. a non-used weapon any day
-       it could have also included the clone jar (Taun We)
+       you get more bang for your buck with two, yes, TWO figures!
-       could have included a clone homework screen, in the meantime, my stack of books from Simpsons
        figures will have to do!
