Click thumbnail for large image Spice: After months of rehash figures and actually making some collectors quit, Hasbro rolls out a product like this. Aayla Secura is the reason why I collect Star Wars Action Figures. This one is fantastic; this one quite frankly has it all. For all of you who know J and I do not sugar coat anything, you will not get your average assault in this installment of Sandwatch. The first thing that will immediately catch your eye is the excellent likeness of this Twi’lek Jedi Knight. Although she had very limited screen time, one can clearly see this is one Hasbro did not drop the ball on. Aayla is a welcome addition to my collection, and seeing as this has never been done before a great one for yours too.
Click thumbnail for large image J - See, after our questioning as to whether the REAL SCAN machine had broken down, we get hit with one that would make us look like fools if we boasted any REAL SCAN skepticism this time. You get the Amy Allen likeness in all her wide bridged nose glory, bangin' body and all. This, folks, is essentially what this business is all about, just like how Hasbro broke it down to us in 1998 - toys that actually look like the thing they look like. The button happy extra articulation doesn't really melt my butter, but everything else in this package does. |
Click thumbnail for large image Spice - I really find it hard to complain about anything with this figure, I am glad they left out the action features on her. I am also diggin the base, similar to the Tusken Raider that we are certain to see more of. I am surprised they didn’t put in the token Shaak Ti blaster effect on here J, but they will probably save that for the 4th or 5th time they make this figure. Also, I really like the metal saber handle and the Force effect. You put all that in with the killer articulation this is one slammin’ figure. |
Click thumbnail for large image J - Makes you want to ask, "Why don't they put forth this type of effort into the main character figures?!?" They can get two-second wonders like Aurra Sing and Aayla Secura produced with exacting detail and extras, yet churn out, time after time, dizzy looking Anakins, Obi-Wans, R2s, and let's not forget drunken versions of Qui-Gon. It's sad really when you think about how the figures every kid wants for a collection never get done quite right, but fourth-tier players get instant perfect figures. At least this is one less character about which we'll have to wonder just how many more resculpts are going to hit us. |
Spice - I doubt that J, let’s not forget about Imperial Officer, Rebel Trooper, Eeth Koth, or Teebo! They needlessly dumped this crap on us this spring with no apparent rhyme or reason. You may even say it's Beyond Belief! (Stay tuned for that, Troopers!) I was elated to get this figure and see that is wasn’t a disappointment. They really couldn’t have done a better job with Aayla Secura. I couldn’t agree with you more, why is it so hard for them to get the main players right? I think the answer is quite simple. The constant rehashes make money. They know guys like me will spend the five to seven bucks in an attempt to have that complete collection. |
J - Not to get too sidetracked here, look at all the details on the headpiece. I'm sure collectors out there will look and say "don't remember that before." The eye shadow painting, too, blew me away. Hasbro had some serious tampo-tech paint applications here - another thing you pay for in every purchase, and certainly worth it here. Speaking of things you pay for, what about the base? I actually liked this little extra even though the fit wasn't real tight in the sole holes on the feet. It does pass the stand test though, and won't topple. The lightning effect, on the other hand, was pure trite. How many figures are they going to throw this tired gimmick in with? Who's next to get it - Chewy?, Ewoks? |
Spice - Well, I wouldn’t put anything past Hasbro J, even the Ewoks with Force push! Especially if that meant putting Teebo in another package and selling it back to us. I hope they can continue to issue figures that make this hobby entertaining and fun. I notice on the upcoming product list that they are putting out existing figures on new cards, so it doesn’t appear Sandwatch Figure Reviews are running out of ammo anytime soon either. This figure was flat out great, articulation, function, accessories, weapons, everything. I couldn’t say enough about it, except go out and buy it! That is, when they get the thousands of Figures No. 1-58 off the shelves and actually show us some new shipments. |
J - The only things that bothered me to any great degree were the right armpit/shoulder joint and the left hand's embedded magnet, but even those are easy to overlook and minor details when you have such a great overall package. Total accuracy, and even though we have the kowabunga action pose out of the deodorant commercials, it still makes sense and would you pleeeeeeassssssse toss some digits up on the big screen for me bruh? - oh my, my, my! |
Spice - Absolutely J, I won’t waste anymore time, they did a good job for a change so let’s let them have their day in the sun! The Digits! |

Jason -
A recipe for success: a cult favorite character, hot female actress, a first time figure that doesn't have to be resculpted later to get done right. Like a sledgehammer in my ear, this is a thumbs up. |
Spice -
Like I said, they did a good job for a change, so thumbs up. |

a little overkill, what with the magnets and excessive articulation (e.g. upper thigh) |
