Spice: It's Expanded Universe gone wild and we get the special treat of Foul Moudama as the second venture to the Saga Collection. The Clone Wars cartoons were groundbreaking with the unprecedented continuity between Episodes II and Episode III. It's probably a good thing judging from the Ewoks, Droids and psychedelic  animation in the Holiday special that this did not happen in the past. Seeing the backdrop of the Chancellor's office immediately took me to the fight alongside Shaak Ti to "protect" the Chancellor. Although right off the bat I could also see there was something very familiar about this mold.

I had to fight back a little bit to recall the Kabe and Muftak mail-in from the Power of the Force line. They generated a robe and some nice new boots and called it a new figure. The paint is slightly different but I could say the most obvious let down of the entire figure is the fact they didn't make it lightsaber friendly or create any way he can hold his trusty Jedi defender in his hand. Talk about going to a gun fight with a knife! If you are lucky enough to balance it or dig up one of those nifty little clear rubber bands, Foul is ready to take on the world! If they really wanted to step it up a notch they could have also had the detachable blade and created the ability to store the handle on the robe as well.

If we can just get one more dollar out of 1998! Click thumbnail for large image
I guess this is a problem I have with the big H, switch the thing up! Could they not add changes to articulation and use the same molds in certain areas of the body? Yes it is a new figure, but again it really isn't. You could argue buying this for your collection, however it's not as bad as some of the other re-issues. I think the originality concept is pretty slick, I just wish they could have done something with that disgusting looking mouth of his! It just reminds me of Michael Jordan driving the lane. I realize there are many of us humans that aren't so pretty but the Talz species has to be one of the ugliest in the Star Wars Universe. This guy looks like he's more interested in looking for a Gentlemen's club vs. protecting the Chancellor and if you did happen to catch Episode III we all know he didn't do a very good job of that!.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Spice - Overall they could have done worse. The fact they have not stuck it to us with the same character is a blessing I guess. If this is the start of more Expanded Universe figures, I guess I'm all for it. I keeps the line interesting and judging from the fan polls, many share my liking for Expanded Universe as well.

+   It's kind of foul, but yet not too foul!
-   Why couldn't they make it to hold the weapon?
+    Expanded Universe is better than Trilogy rehashes!
-    They couldn't change ANYTHING? All we can get is a little more plastic?

Just a little bit less plastic and they'd have had it!
