Spice: It was only a matter of time until the originality wore off and we were saddled with some crap that was left over. I will not even dignify these releases with the true carded versions, although they are very similar to the picture shown. Only the insert and some minor text changes were made on this release vs. what we saw at the tail end of the OTC collection. Why they continue to try to insult our intelligence is beyond me. Do they really want to alienate carded collectors?

I really wouldn't have minded it if I didn't have 3 or 4 already. Click thumbnail for large image
We have seen this exact same figure numerous times over the last few years but Hasbro felt it necessary to dish this thing out one, hopefully last time. I'm sure some poor child didn't get a Darth Vader all these countless times around and the big bad collectors hoard them all. This is what they would like us to believe. This is how they have answered these questions for years both online and at conventions. I don't recall any Darth Vader being a rough find over the last  ten years with exception of the New York Toy Fair Vader back in 2002.

How many Darth Vader figures does one need? Click thumbnail for large image
The figure itself really isn't that bad, although we have had so many Darth Vader figures to this point it would be hard to compare it to the numerous variations that have been produced to date. I'd say it's definitely better than the Red Carded version, but would have a hard time shaping up to the Freeze Frame version with a removable helmet. It's pretty much the same figure that we have seen back on the Green card with Commtech chip. There is no reason to buy this if you are a loose collector, who could be the only ones saving from a release like this.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Spice - I knew it just couldn't last forever, while Dagobah Luke was also way too soon for a re-release there is no reason this piece of trash should have been slapped together and thrown back out into the marketplace.

+    The best thing would have been to just give us the VOTC and call it a day.
-    Why, Hasbro Why?
-    Did we really need another Darth Vader?
+     At least we know this could be the last time for this one. We can only hope.
