That's a dirty trick!

A very dirty trick Click thumbnail for large image
Spice: Now it seems we are blessed with one Luke Skywalker figure for every second of screen time he had. Perhaps they felt the 2002 Saga version was too brutal. I see right through it, Hasbro is just making more money off existing molds. It wouldn't shock me if they were simply stripping and repainting the millions that were probably sent back by retail chains. I'm trying to figure out how the selection process was decided when they produced the OTC line. Did they say, "Start 'em off with something fresh, then we'll see how bad we can disgust our customers." I'm quite sure they mean well, but let's not forget what the path to Hell is paved with. The pre-I-got my a#% whupped Luke Skywalker delivers very little for yet another Abe Lincoln.

You think this is rough, you shoulda seen two years ago Click thumbnail for large image
Don't get me wrong, I do like the improvement. I just think it's way too soon to deposit this on the shelf. I could swear there were at least a dozen on Saga card the last time I visited the KB Toys outlet. At least they didn't put us through the bloody stump variation again. I also wonder why they stuck with the worthless action feature? Scrap that and the magnetic hand that does very little but fall off at the wrong time. Simply go back to the same style used in PotF Luke Bespin. (Freeze Frame) The blaster is a welcome plus, the size is right and it fits snug in the holster. I would have liked to seen the elbows articulated if they were going to stick us up again.

Can you get a more worthless action feature? Click thumbnail for large image
I guess the thing I despise the most is the button sticking out of the back, for an action feature that ranks right up there with Count Dooku - Dark Lord from the Saga line. Also is there some reason why they couldn't throw in the weather vane that was included with the previous mold? Should we start backing the dollar with plastic instead of gold? Hasbro could have you believing it. I don't know, after 26 figures and only 7 that I don't already own, it begins to gnaw at you.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Spice - I wish I could say this is something you should enjoy adding to your collection. It's just not the case. There are better examples suited for re-issue. This is another one I'd like to use something other than my thumb to show what I feel about it. Why would you want a watered down version of something that you can still find on the pegs?

+     It is a better looking version than the first one
-     They could have put articulation in the elbows to make it that much better
-     They should have scrapped the action feature
-     It is simply way too soon to re-release this figure, too many still litter retail
