Spice: It was no surprise to see Obi-Wan Kenobi kick off the 2008 collection as this core character has been a solid choice to start things in the past. It seems like we have seen this body so many times over, but we can only guess Hasbro hopes we can't get enough of a good thing. Upon picking up the package one of the first things to catch the eye is the absence of the coin that was a major part of the appeal in the Thirtieth Anniversary Collection.

What I really did like was the fact they did a magnificent job of capturing the facial likeness of Ewan McGregor. You can almost hear him saying "I have failed you Anakin"! As I mentioned before we've seen this body used for Obi-Wan many times over, but I'm not remembering if we ever saw the material around the waist like we do with this version. I think that was a very classy move, we can only wonder why they couldn't deliver a really nice robe or perhaps some soot and ash weathering on the outfit.

One other minor tweak that was made would be the waist joints that allow the Jedi Master to go down into the splits! This is very helpful for action posing with Darth Vader (#2) and the Mustafar Panning Droid (#08). You can have a lot of fun recreating what is one of the most entertaining lightsaber battles in any of the Star Wars films. The only thing they missed is the beads of sweat coming off the forehead, as this is really a great figure. However you really wouldn't know this if you were a carded collector.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Spice - As much as I hate to see a rehash or the same figure over and over again, I really think they did just enough to warrant spending the money. I can't think of any character other than Darth Vader who should kick off the line.

+   One of the best facial sculpts of Obi-Wan yet.
-   Why not throw in a robe?
+    The added articulation in the hips / legs makes the version a winner.
