A good reason to squeeze out Obi-Wan and Vader again! Click thumbnail for large image
Spice: There were many characters left unmade in the aftermath of Revenge of the Sith. Once the Saga Collection kicked in, they delivered on some solid choices like Commander Cody and the Firespeeder Pilot but for whatever reason we would see a Mustafar Sentry before we'd see the Lava Panning Droid. Why would Hasbro wait to deliver on what was an unwilling participant in what is one of the most exciting lightsaber battles in all six Star Wars films. Why would this innocent bystander be left standing by for so many years? We can only guess this was the most logical way for Hasbro rationalizing pounding yet another Darth Vader and Obi-Wan set on collectors?

This little guy is quite a bit of fun actually. They loaded up the arms and legs with movement so you can get multiple action poses. It's quite easy to position figures on top of the head, as they positioned the foot pegs quite nicely. There is also the nifty lava bucket attached so he can perform his panning duties. As far as the paint job went, you can not really argue the screen accuracy. Although I can't think of anyone who'd say they were more interested in the Droid they were fighting on top of vs. the two Jedi who were going at it full-speed while the poor guy was simply trying to do his job!

The action feature is great but I'll admit I spent a bit of time wondering how he attached to the platform. After talking with a Rebel Spy I was able to learn it was in the lava, not the platform itself that you need to insert the feet. Thanks Curto! Overall I really like the fact they included this, as it really completes the Lava Panning Droid and adds some necessary character. I'd like to see more figures done this way in future waves, in regards to how well he interacts with figures numbers one and two. The rough part is convincing yourself to buy another Obi-Wan and Darth Vader!

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Spice - It's great to see what they can do when they really put their resources to work. If they did sets where one would play off another it would be a big assist in helping the assortments sell out. I love the fact we can add this guy to our Mustafar battles, and I hope we can continue with the trend of originality.

+   I love the ability to create complete scenes, keep 'em coming!
-   You'll want to buy both Obi-Wan and Vader to make this set work!
+    They loaded this figure with a couple different options and functions.
