Good company for the Saga Legends figures. Click thumbnail for large image
Spice: I guess you can say the team at Hasbro hit things right on the money when they put this figure as number two. For many of us who have a little more love for the Original Trilogy vs. the Prequels have enough handling this version of Darth Vader. It's not that I can't grasp the concept that Anakin ceased to exist as much as I can't stand seeing Darth Vader not appearing as the Dark Lord we all know and fear. Although I will say as much as an unwelcome site this figure would be to me initially, there are a couple good reasons for the reissue of the Evolutions mold once again.

This doesn't strike me as the Dark Lord of the Sith! Click thumbnail for large image
For one it's a cheaper route to open up one of the more superior versions of Anakin / Vader to date. I'm pretty sure this one will be headed for the clearance pegs in a few years, but I really do like the way they tried to make subtle improvements. I just think they went a little over board on the scar. The paint seems just a bit too dark. I also don't think it was so long either. Another very welcome site was the use of a different material or at least texture. The Evolutions Revenge of the Sith seems to be not only grooved but too shiny or bronze looking.

Just like Obi-Wan Kenobi another  minor tweak that was made would be the waist joints that allow him to go down into the splits. This is very useful for action posing with Obi-Wan Kenobi (#1) and the Mustafar Panning Droid (#08). I believe this is why the change in material was made, as the newer seems to be more like an elastic that stretches when you utilize the new leg movement. I also observed they slit the tunic and used a softer material to also accommodate the new leg tweaks. It just really pains me to see they left the rolling elbows, as jointed elbows would have really made the difference. I can't say enough, if we have to pay for it again it should be perfect.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Spice - As much as I hate to put my thumb down on any figure, you'd really like to see them go the extra mile and nail it if they're going to continue to reissue figures again and again. I'm not trying to hear about costs on elbow joints when I have to pay over four bucks a gallon and most of the time crap like this is all I can find hanging on the pegs with Saga Legends figures.

+   I really like the mold, one of the best ever of Anakin from RotS.
-   Lose the rolling elbows, shorten and lighten the scar and he's perfect.
+    The added articulation in the hips / legs is taken away from by the cheap elbows.
