Update from the Collectorate: Changed Collecting Has!
There are a lot of abbreviations associated with Star Wars collecting. Heck, any collecting for that matter. The abbreviations that collectors encounter can be a challenge if you don't know what they mean. There are not a lot of sources to help learn them. In most cases, if an explanation of the abbreviations exists on a site it can be hard to find and the list is not right with you when you see an abbreviation you don't know. MOC, MISB, ARC, ODST? These abbreviations in the product listing can be real important in choosing what you want and getting the right item.

THE Collectorate website will feature, what we will call, Dynamic Abbreviations. While you are visiting our website there will be a small box in the same place on every page that will provide you with definitions to common collecting abbreviations. But it gets better! This system is smart. It checks to see what you are looking at and gives you definitions that are relevant to each page.

If you are looking at the listing for a Star Wars ARC Trooper, it will include what ARC stands for. If you are looking at a Halo ODST Figure, it will include what ODST stands for. But it will also tell you that MOC means Mint On Card. Check our website often for more preview articles, sample screen shots, updates of the FAQ, and the opening day announcement.

Real Men wear Pink!"Happy Halloween Troopers! I know it's a little early, but now is the time for spooky savings. Speaking of spooky, I was just in a local KMart and I'm always scared while I'm in there because of their high prices ! Then I noticed that they had all Legacy and Clone Wars figures on sale for $4.99 through 10/25, so if you have one close by, this is a great opportunity to get those army builders. Other Killeen, TX finds include the Wal-Mart exclusive A-Wings and Gunships at all local stores and in great numbers, at least 20 of each ship at each location. No new figures or titaniums yet to be found, still trying to score a titanium TIE Defender and Imperial Landing Craft. That's all from central Texas for now, Starfox signing off..."

Sandwatch Sneak Preview: Possible Commander Cody Variant?
Play dirty, it pays! Our S.C.A.L.P. Intel has our view finders pointed at several photos of another possible variant from the Clone Wars line. Update from the Collectorate: Changed Collecting Has!
The response to the “Opt Out” Program as been awesome! The “Opt Out” Program is a direct result of collectors talking and working with us to address issues important to collectors. It was a group of collectors who brought this to our attention. Collector involvement is absolutely critical to us. By Collectors, For Collectors does not just mean the small group of collectors who are trying to create The Collectorate, but “All” collectors. We want you to believe us when we say “we listen”.

We are looking for a few good board members! The Board of Collectors that is! Are you an avid collector with vast experience and knowledge in a particular line of collectibles? Why not put your skills to work to benefit yourself and other collectors.

Now you can! We’re putting together a “Board of Collectors” for each major collectibles line. Each Board will advise THE COLLECORATE directly on that line and also be a source of information for other collectors. Board members will enjoy benefits like discounts, advance notice of events and specials, and drawings. There will be an application process for Board membership and each potential member must qualify before being seated on a Board. The level of commitment and benefits will be greater than our regular clubs for each line.

Do you deserve a seat on The Board of Collectors? Contact us and tell us why YOU need a seat on the Board!

Sandwatch Action Figure Review: No Brighter Spot than the Eclipse
The Force Unleashed is still under our microscope as we are finishing up the final two figures this week. There is no character (other than the one you play) so conflicted with the choice of what side they should be fighting for. I'll give it away just a bit, she doesn't have cheap elbows! Feel free to offer your own feedback about the T.F.U. collection. Until then enter if you dare!

Update from the Collectorate: Changed Collecting Has!
You, the collectors, have spoken, and we at The Collectorate have listened. For the past several weeks, members of Sandtroopers.com forums have been asking us questions and making suggestions. We have been listening and learning! Many Halo Collectors in particular told us that they generally open their figures after purchase. And some Star Wars Collectors told us they were Army Builders who also open their figures. However, we also heard from other Star Wars collectors who really liked the idea of their action figures coming with and being shipped in a protective plastic case (See Preview Article #4 on our Splash Page).

Why not have it both ways? Announcing the “Opt Out” Program All of our Action Figures will still come with and be shipped in a protective plastic case as a standard practice. However, each Action Figure listing on our site will have an “OPT OUT” button where you can chose to “opt out” of the protective plastic case. When you click the button the case will be taken off your order and your cost for that Action Figure will be automatically reduced.

Now you can get all of your Action Figures in protective cases, or some of them with and some without, or even none of them with protective cases. It’s your collection, you are in control! Visit our website for more preview articles, sample screen shots, and the opening day announcement.

The Force continues to unleash as we proceed even further into the first wave of figures from the smash hit video game. Area Report: New Vehicles hit the Circle City!
Make way for Wally World!Hey Troopers, late last night I went out and stopped in at Wal-Mart in Indianapolis. On the pallets I found some cases with the Clone Wars Gun Ship and the A-Wing. The weird thing was on both cases for these vehicles there was the red mark that said not to be on the shelf before July 26, 2008. I found that strange since these items to my knowledge were not ready to be put out at that time. Anyways the prices are Gunship $49.98 and A-Wing $29.98.

Sandwatch Action Figure Review: Back to the Front!
We're heading back into the offerings from the Force Unleashed figures seeing as we all are becoming very familiar with many of the characters from the hit video game. There is no doubt you will enjoy your life as Darth Vader's secret apprentice. Your very first mission is to destroy an Imperial Shipyard and make quick work of General Rahm Kota. I couldn't think of any easier task for one strong with the Dark Side. We can only hope the version Hasbro has created fares better than the samurai inspired Jedi Master does in your first encounter! Update from the Collectorate: Changed Collecting Has!
This is the fifth in a 5-part series previewing key features of The Collectorate, a new online store that launches soon. The Collectorate was created By Collectors, For Collectors. The Collectorate Pricing Philosophy: A New Perspective

We are collectors first and we want other collectors to be able to obtain what they need to complete their collections and have access to good quality. This philosophy means that we do not believe in jacking up prices to take advantage of short lived circumstances! We want to offer a unique service on a very high level at a fair and realistic price.

All basic items in a line or wave will have the same pricing structure. Our products will be rated for packaging quality using The Collectorate Shield Rating© system and assigned a standardized price for that item type at each Shield Rating level. The price of an item will decrease as its packaging quality rating goes down. Different basic items will nothave a variation in price solely due to that item selling well or there being fewer of them in a case.

Exclusives or first day issue items will have a different pricing structure than basic items. Extra value is placed on these items in the belief that they really are something special. As collectors we do subjectively see increased collectible value in special or unique items.

Each item in our inventory has a unique hexadecimal number, The Collectorate ID©, which allows you to hand-pick the item you want. The Collectorate Shield Rating© of that item indicates its quality and determines its place in the pricing structure for that type item. All action figures will have a protective plastic case included to protect it during shipping. We know that customers and trust must be earned with each new site visitor and each new order!

Blast from the past! With the re-release of the AAT we decided this was a great time to go back and hit the 1999 version from The Phantom Menace.
