Dewback Preview: Filmcon 7 Madison, WI
Learn a new way to shoot! We’ve been sent word regarding a rather unusual convention that will take place November 17 – 19th 2006 in Madison, WI. The big difference at Filmcon vs. other conventions is you might actually get a chance to learn something. There will be several amateur film makers on hand as well as several education panels for steps you can take to further yourself in the entertainment industry. One of the guests this year is C. Andrew Nelson who will once again cover aspects in animation, filmmaking, portfolio design and prep for students. For an admission price of $30 for the weekend, this could be a very good chance to see how the pros do it without paying the heavy price tag! For more visit the Filmcon 7 website for details.

Sandtrooper Boba Ness Reports:
“Hey Troopers, I found the location of the hidden rebel base after searching 5 Target stores in the northern Minneapolis/St Paul suburbs yesterday. The Target on 694 and Central Avenue had over sixty stacked on top of two toy isles and one end-cap. I counted them a couple times to make sure I wasn’t imagining this. Even with that many, you will be hard pressed to find a perfect box. I decided to open mine so I didn’t really care too much. The inside packaging looks great the opening air scoops are a nice addition.”

Sandtrooper dustrho Reporting In:
S.C.A.L.P. Weapons SupplierHey troopers! It's a gorgeous fifty degrees in the western suburbs of Chicago, and I scored some good stuff this morning while stopping at the Target on Route 59 and 127th in Plainfield. The pegs had the most amount of action figures I have seen on their shelves since the ROTS line was released last April. Unfortunately there wasn't a whole lot of new figures to snag up, but the newest figure I found was the Death Star Gunner. Also picked up an extra Shock Trooper because you know I don't have enough army-builders. The pegs had a bunch of newer Titanium Vehicles, and I was lucky to find a Naboo Patrol Fighter, Republic Gunship and Snowspeeder (the last two with new paint styles). Also grabbed the Imperial Encounter Unleashed Battle Pack that has Han Solo, Chewbacca and a Tauntaun to re-create a scene from The Empire Strikes Back. Lastly there was an end-cap full of Unleashed figures on clearance for just under ten dollars (in the tube containers), and Boba Fett is who ended up coming home with me. He was the only Boba Fetta mixed with close to fifteen General Grievous figures. To sum things up, it was a pretty good morning for me. United We Find!

A role that has never been offered in another Star Wars video game at such a grand scale. The recently released expansion pack, Forces of Corruption, has received excellent reviews all across the Internet. Sandwatch Update: Kit Fisto's Jedi Starfighter
The other ship at Target! We’ve seen many Jedi Starfighters surface since the original design was a sneak preview back in 2002 for Episode II. The latest paint job and Target Exclusive was bestowed upon Kit Fisto. However judging from the endless supply of Kit Starfighters and the lack of Snowspeeder one might think two exclusives are too much for the strained wallet of the modern day Star Wars collector. If you'd like to take a closer look at this feel free and decide if it is something you need in your collections. United We Find.

Walking is Difficult for Darth Vader These Days
Dave Prowse is Darth VaderSome people think Darth Vader would be quite an invinvcible fellow, one who had such strong connections to the Force, would help him live a healthy life. Unfortunately that is not the case for Dave Prowse, the man who wore the famous Darth Vader costume in the original three Star Wars films. He's had numerous orthopaedic problems throughout his life, and he's opened up to reveal what he's gone through. Read what he had to say here.

Miracle on 18th Avenue!
Sandtrooper Dan reporting in from the frigid North woods of Wisconsin. I hit up the 18th Avenue Shop-ko on Wausau's West side last night and scored the rest of the Tatooine and Endor wave I was in need of, for $5.99 each. Thanks to the Wife and her keen eye, she spotted an end-cap near the toy section loaded with pegs of figures. There was plenty left after I got done so if you live in the area and are still in the need of Gra Gra, Endor Luke or Rep Been hit up Shop-Ko soon, before they all disappear. To everyone else, good luck in your neck of the woods.

Force of the Bay: Cool as the other side of the Cantina
From the darkest depths of the bay I’ve uncovered many things buried in the sands of time. I’m not going to talk any smack as I have in the past; in fact I’ve cleaned up my act. We will stand together and take aim at the future. This is your arena, and only the wallet can stop you. As I’ve always said in the past make sure to do your homework on whomever you are doing business with, and make sure the reputation isn’t damaged. The last thing you’d want to do is mess around with a yo-yo. However if used like anything in moderation, the bay can be a valuable weapon in your arsenal of collecting. In fact sometimes you might have a perfect transaction and compare it to a work of art. The best will shine in the end, and remember not everyone is your friend. Sandtroopers.com neither endorses nor authenticates any of the items featured here. Good luck to you great Troopers in your searches, kick a#$ and take names!

Sandtrooper Dead Hero Reports: A Fisto Rage!
I'm a razor blade slittin' through a wrist of haters!“Troops! Due to the general lack of hot product on the shelves, I haven't reported in a while, but the earth has somewhat shifted, so I'm back with some Northeast Illinois patrol. LaGrange (Countryside/Hodgkins) Target has had Rogue 2 snowspeeders (flying off the shelves fast), way too many Kit Fisto starfighters, clearance lava titanium Vader, all three battle packs, but a disappointing selection of GB and H&V. I grabbed the battle packs except for the Sarlacc pack because it didn't offer anything different than the last three times we've bought those individual figures! Wal-Mart in the same Quarry plaza has had Sarlacc Battle Pack, end cap basic figure displays (old figures), and the Transformers Classics. Toys R Us in Racine, Wisconsin is bristling with cases of Endor AT-ATs, Dagobah X-Wings, TIE Fighters, and Clone Wars Gunships. This store was a good place to be because they carry the Beast Wars Optimus vs. Megatron pack. I did receive my Masterpiece Edition MP3 Starscream and MP4 Optimus from BigBadToyStore which will blow you away. Visiting Buffalo in a couple weeks, so maybe will heed JediMaster Eric's words and wait! Keep up the good fight Troops, the Naboo wave will be found with a little energon, and a LOT of luck! United We Find!”

Posted by: Darth_Spice | 16 October 2006 | 18:03 EDT
Sandtrooper Jedimaster Eric Reports:
“Hello Troops, not so much a report on the hunt as much as how difficult it is to go on one. We got hammered here this weekend with snow (Buffalo, NY) and from looking around you would think a bomb went off! Probably the worst natural disaster of my lifetime living here. Anyway, most of the city and towns are still without power and cleaning up the mess. So, Star Wars has taken a back seat for a few weeks I guess. Which is all right because I have only seen tons of pegwarmer H&V and GB figures anyway. Why does Hasbro have to keep repackaging the same figures? From the wall of pegwarmers here it will probably be awhile before we see the Naboo wave. Oh well, at least the Sabres are kicking butt!”

Please Spice, don't hurt 'em!

Sandtrooper Darth Pharoah Reports:
Goes down Souf!“This has been a good last few days here just north of Atlanta. Have recently gotten the Target Starfighter and Snowspeeder. Finally found wave 7 figures as well at TRU and the new wave of Titanium ships. The new Wal-Mart exclusive Unleashed figures are here too. The new wave of Battlepacks is out in force (baaaad pun) though I’m not picking up those. The Wal-Mart DVD sets are still EVERYWHERE! Boy were these a flop. I know I didn’t get them either. (Can anyone say clearance?) No sign of the 30th AC tins yet. I’ll probably pick those up, though I honestly don’t know why. Well, there’s a lot out right now so hit it hard!”

Sandtrooper Dennis Reports:
24/7 S.C.A.L.P. Trooper“I just got back from Gurnee Target & they had the new exclusive Snowspeeders & Kit Fisto Starfighters on an end cap right by the Star Wars section. No sign of the Naboo wave. There are just too many of the previous waves in addion too all of the Greatest Hits waste to make any kind of room. That's all for now. Later Troops.”

Sandtrooper Darth2525 Reports:
“Hey Troops, I was able to find the 7-inch unleashed Vader and Luke at the Stevens Point Wal-Mart yesterday, they had about 9 of each left after I bought mine. I already have these on other cards but am just a sucker for this new tube style packaging. I sure hope Hasbro decides to continue on with this line. Last Friday this store had the Episode I, II, & III tins but I passed on them at almost $27 apiece, to my surprise these were all bought up by 5 days later. The Target in Stevens Point had a ton of the Kit Fisto Star Fighters but the snow speeder shelf was empty. The Mills Fleet Farm toy land opens this Saturday and the basic figures are listed at $5.49, which means starting Saturday Wal-Mart will honor the lower price. Since wave 7 has yet to show here, that will work out well.”

Sandtrooper Jedihawk Reports:
The Hawk!“Well Troops...It has been a long time. I have been completely swamped at work for several months and not doing many toys runs. My area seems to be devoid of any new plastic life. Every store here is drowning the Greatest Battles waves. I am not sure how my local Wal-Mart’s are EVER going to move all of those figures. Target is not much better but they have not restocked any 4" figures in over 4-6 weeks! There have been no Endor wave 1 sightings around here. But last week the local Wal-Mart’s put out a few of the tray assortments that had the Gunner and the Endor 3PO in the mix. Last night was another story. I went to one of my local Wal-Mart’s after I left the office (3am) and they had stocked some of the new Battle Packs. These were priced at $19,76 each. Also they had the first 3 of the Commemorative Tins. The first new 30th Anniversary items. The price point - $26.94! Seems mighty steep for just 4 repacked figures. They do look nice though. I struggled with the decision of purchase and ultimately chose to pass for now. Sideshow is killing my budget. Long post, I know but had some catching up to do. ST.com keep up the good work. Hunt 'em down.”

Sandtrooper Bobafett1997 Reports:
“Greetings fellow Troopers, it has been awhile since I posted any news from N.E. Florida. Trooper Bobafett1997 checking in from Jacksonville,Fl. After finding remnants from the Naboo wave at the Duval and Merrill Road Wal-Mart’s, I was able to score 2 complete sets minus the Afro-Endor Soldier (He was nowhere to be found) at the Atlantic Avenue Wal-Mart. They also had 2 sets of the Han/Tauntaun Unleashed packs that I picked up for my sons. I have yet to see anyone else mentioning these sets being out yet but I was able to pick up 3 new Battle Packs from the Merrill Road Wal-Mart. They are Sith Lord Attack, Battle above the Sarlaac, and the Jedi vs. Darth Sidious. They are all repacks but display well in their boxes. The Regency Toys R Us had 6 of each of the Endor AT-AT and the Dagobah X-wings, no new figures though but they also had 1 Battle above the Sarlaac Battlepacks as well. I have not come across any new Target exclusives or the new wave of Galactic Heroes yet but I will continue the search. Good luck troopers and keep up the fight.”

"Clone Wars" Coming Next Year
George LucasIf you enjoyed the animated series Star Wars Clone Wars then you're going to be in for a treat next year, as George Lucas announced today that his new TV series Clone Wars will more than likely air next year sometime. The show will be a continuation of the previous two seasons that aired on Cartoon Network, and will of course include the main characters like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Count Dooku, Anakin Skywalker and more. I personally cannot wait for this to come out on TV, because I thoroughly enjoyed the animated versions. It was a nice change of pace compared to seeing the films in live action, and this new show means Star Wars will still be alive and strong with the Force. Read the full story about it here.

Update from Sideshow: Goin' Commando Tonight!
We'd like you Troopers to know some of the first 'Militaries of Star Wars' figures will be available for Pre-Order tonight with the launch of our newsletter. There has been some confusion about these products, so we've tried to answer the most important questions in the Q & A. Also, because they are not using the Priority Pre-Order method to sell the Rebel Strike Force Bundle, or the first individual Infantry Trooper, you should have plenty of time to place your own orders for these items, if you want them. The following two Troopers are scheduled to Priority Pre-Order in the coming weeks, and we'll try to stay on top of these as they come!

North woods of WI Wal-Mart update.
Sandtrooper Dan reporting live from the hilly fall looking landscaped terrain of Wausau Wisconsin. If you live in the Wausau Metropolitan area or any of the surrounding towns you might want to keep your eyes peeled at your local Wal-Mart for the Endor/Naboo wave. LucasArts is Building Up Their Forces
LucasArts is Building Up Their ForcesIt seems that next generation gaming is going to be a major priority for LucasArts, as they have been building up their forces to produce some of the most intense video games to ever come out. There are currently 70 to 80 employees working on different "next gen" video games for LucasArts, and I could only guess that more and more employees will make their way into LucasArts to contribute to developing these new games. One of LucasArts' employees, Chris Williams, spoke at a career fair in London, England, and you can read more about what he said here.

Battlefront III in the Works?
Battlefront III in the Works? If you liked the first two Star Wars Battlefront video games, you might like to know that LucasArts seems to be currently working on a third title for the series. However, this time it may include the "next generation" gameplay that can be utilized to its fullest with the Xbox 360 and other powerful gaming systms. Now this is just a rumor, but when you think about it LucasArts would be crazy not to create a third game with this type of futuristic gaming technology. Read the full story here, and be sure to talk about this over in our our forums.

Sandtrooper Darth Hidious Reports:
“I been racking my brain and searching for a way to mount a star case to the wall and not have to use tacks or nails. I finally stumbled a crossed a plastic piece at Lowes that is used for making stain glass windows. They come in 8' lengths and are approximately 1" wide in the back and 1/2" wide in the front with a 1/8" gap in between. Basically the look like an "H" with one side taller then the other. You can staple these to the wall with a staple gun measuring 9 3/8" apart. Make sure to measure from the short sides. Cut the hangers off of the star cases. The cases will slide into the channels with a little persuasion. This makes for a nice display and perfectly strait rows. This method will not damage the card or figure inside the cases. Another plus, they are easier to dust because they don’t move around on the walls.”

Dewback Preview: Motor City Comic-Con
Hey Troops, in years past we have made the journey to the Motor City Comic-Con and I'd like to encourage any and all Troopers in the area to make it out to this show later this month. While the Star Wars guests are not in high demand, there are quite a few other celebrities making it out and you really never know what treasure you can find at a larger event like this one. This show has announced Doug Wangler (living model for Quinlan Vos) will be at the venue signing autographs and memorabilia for fans. Advance ticket holders get in 30 minuets early, so check out the website and load up that Dewback!
