A Friendly Reminder
Holiday JawasEntertainment Earth sent me an email yesterday, reminding me about my pre-order for the 2004 Holiday Edition Jawas that will be released sometime this December. For a second I thought it was an email stating they had just shipped, but since I already knew it wasn't shipping until December I realized it was still a nice reminder from them any way.

Area Report: Live from Miami!
Outta my way, or you'll get rolled over!Helloooooo America. Another South Florida transmission is about to take place directly from Miami and its latest toy store happenings. A valuable information for the locals and a laughable view for the rest of the country. After all, we are the last ones to receive anything new. Without further delay here are the news from the nation's southern most area:

Toys R Us: Lots of things going on this week at the giraffe store. Wanna sound like the man behind the breathing mask and black ropes? Well, leave it to Toys R Us to dress up your head this Halloween. Seems everyone here in Miami will be able to turn to the dark side this coming Sunday. They've gotten the Darth Vader Voice Changer mask by the truckload. No need to mention a specific location; they are everywhere!...If only that would be the case for new OTC figures we would be in plastic paradise.

Speaking of Toys R US, they've received again the VOTC ROTJ wave. A few Fetts and Stormies are still hanging from the pegs but hardly any Chewbaccas. I've seen a couple of VOTC Artoos but no Golden Droid and of course, lots a lots of Lando Pegwarmer Calrissian. As for the Y-wing well, they landed here on Tuesday but had taken off by Wednesday and seems its second "fleet flight" it's been delayed; their landing shelf space is empty. I did find a lonely one with a switched figure inside, no pilot but instead a S.W.A.T team member! This beautiful example of plastic theft can be admired at the Kendall Toys R US on 117th Ave and Kendall Dr. By the way this store has reduced its Star Wars are to a small 4 footer, four sided display and the new lady manager appears to have left the broom in the back ..try to approach her, you won't ... mean the witch, she is.

Last but not least, the Silver Vader has shown up in armies at SOME Toys R us while others don't even know about them. The Kendall Toys R Us STILL has some of them for $4.99 ?? while International Mall's TRU has them for $9.99 ..Go figure! So much for the FREE figure deal with a $19.99 purchase. When asked about it, an employee looked at me completely mesmerized ...."Eh? What sale?" He said ... He must had been experiencing a short trip to the Twilight Zone, a common experience among some retailer!

K-mart: Wow, I can't believe this name even comes up but heck, it is the only place where Cantina Scene 2 can be found with the REHASHED sculpt of the blue Snaggletooth and REHASHED friends. Yup, K-Mess, sorry ... K- M a r t has gotten them in good numbers! But be prepared for the worst scenario. I would say 95% of them have been given the bulldozer treatment, having beautifully crushed blisters, artistically taking up a diversity of shapes and forms. Nevertheless if you look among the damage ones you're bound to come up with one or two "unhurt" specimens. Where is this rehash trio? Give a try to the K-Mess on U. S 1 and 114th Ave right by Williamson Cadillac/Hummer. As for OTC figures they still have the same first and second Wave and they are the best place to find an incredible sea of perfectly lined up VOTC Han Solos. Such uniformity makes me sick!

K-B Toys: Cough! ... Cough! ... Cough! ... Next! Wait, wait!... Sawgrass Mills Mall had ONE OTC Greedo. Whew!

Target: Well, Target is best known as Scalperland here in Dade as well as Broward counties. Miss work, call in sick, drop a few classes ... whatever. But make sure you are there early in the morning and beat the scalper traffic; if you are not, chances are slim to get anything new. I've seen first hand scalpers rush inside the stores the minute the doors open, drooling to the smell of fresh plastic, like a hungry pack of wolves. So, with this view in mind, Target's gotten the latest Wave of OTC, as left overs indicated. I've seen the flatten out cards of the Gamorrean guard and Slave Leia at Dadeland Mall's. The U.S 1 store in Cutler Ridge sports the stupidest sign I ever seen. The sign is placed in the Star Wars area and it reads something to this effect: "We are out of Star Wars figures But we recommend Lord of the Rings figures for the same price" C'mon I'M LOOKING FOR STAR WARS! not LOTR! To them is all plastic! They really make you hold your breath and count till ten.

Wal-Mart: A mysterious place where figures could show up at any time or quietly disappear. Nothing, I mean N O T H I N G! Other than a couple of lonely Lando General Walmart has been a total Zero find this week. Okeechobee Walmart still has EP1 Figures, yes the ones I mentioned in my last report, nothing worth selling your house for. And if you want Unleashed Ben, head to 152 Ave and Kendall DR, there are three pegs THREE PEGS!..about to fall down packed with such figure.

And this brings us to the end. From the Expresso and cigars capital of Miami, Florida this has been a live report brought to you and sponsored by "Banthadene", the toothpaste that gives you that shiny Bantha smile! Banthadene on sale now at your local Tusken store. Until next week, hoping to bring you better news ... Desert Rat, Sandtroopers.com.

Area Report: Got Silver?
The Master Blaster wiff da Aftershock!Hey Troopers, I was at my local TRU today and they have the Silver Vader in stock for $9.99 or FREE with a $20 purchase. I picked up two Y-Wings and they gave me three for free! I don?t know if this was a mix-up or for every twenty you spend you get one but I would head out to TRU right now if you don?t wanna give the scalpers a chance to bend them all up! They had them behind the service desk so hopefully the slime won?t get a chance to destroy them like they did the Silver Clones! Good luck out there, Kick A#$ and take names. Thanks to Sandtrooper Jetfire for getting me outta bed!

Sandtrooper Jedimaster-C Reports:
Are they still making these?“Last Tuesday I was off and went to TRU and low and behold more Y-Wings came in, about 12 of them. I must say, I was a little apprehensive about the new Y-Wing but looking at it closely it looks pretty cool. I have the Gold squad version but I like this one as well. The only complaint is that the R2 unit is not removable but aside from that the ship looks very nice. A great way for people who got the shaft from Target. Take care.”

Sandtrooper Sithryan Reports:
“Hey Troops! I wanted to retract a previous statement on the VOTC Vader not being the best Vader ever. In the package, it looks OK, not great, just OK. Open one, and that changes altogether. The articulation is comparable to the super articulated Clonetrooper. This thing rocks! Unbelievable. Anyone have a Holiday Yoda? I need one. Email me and let me know if you have an extra. I'd be interested! I also have a Sandcrawler condition C-9 or better for cost plus shipping. I also have a bonus pack of OTC Jawas to add to this offer. Please let me know if anyone is in need.”

Sandtrooper Forcehunter Reports:
“The Toys R Us at the Avenues Mall just got in a ton of VOTC figs: Lando, Fett, and Vader. They must have opened a case recently, as they have been really hard to come by. No Stormtrooper or Yoda though. We haven't seen too much of anything else here in Jacksonville, FL lately!”

Sandtrooper Starfox Reports:
“Just a quick note from Central Texas, I took today off for my B-Day and decided to do a little road trip. I hit 4 different Wal-Marts within a 40-mile radius and every single one of them received 2 new cases of figures! The bad news, every single one of them was the SAGA Hall of Fame wave! How horrible is that! Severely disgruntled...Starfox signing out!”

Sandtrooper Sithryan Reports:
The Pride of Boise, Idaho!“Hey Troops! Sithryan reporting in from the northern territory of The Idaho Wastelands! (Wastelands in the toy isles it seems) The only find worthy of reporting is the ROTJ and Empire VOTC waves at Fred Meijer stores. They have a sale for buy 2 get one free, and at 9.99 each, not too shabby a deal. They had Fett, R2D2, Lando, Stormtrooper, Chewie, and Vader. The Vader isn't the best ever made that's for sure. No 3PO or Yoda anywhere. The employee stocking told me there were no Yoda or 3PO?s in the cases. Odd. The Fett is fantastic. Should have included this one with the Slave 1 also. Anyway- good luck on the hunt!”

Sandtrooper Dennis Reports:
24/7 S.C.A.L.P. Trooper“Hey Troopers, I did a small run this morning, I did find a few items of interest.

Target (Gurnee, IL): “had only 1 OTC Slave I (non-mint) on the top overstock shelf. They also restocked more SAGA (Jedi Luke/Hoth wave) figs just like the Waukegan Target.

KB Toys (Gurnee, IL): “had only 1 VOTC ROTJ Stormtrooper. That's the only new SW stuff I saw today in the stores. The rest of it was all peg & shelf warmers. That's all for now. Later.”

Site News: Changes Are Now in Place
After hearing many complaints of people not being able to see the drop-down menu on our front page, which helps you navigate throughout our site, I have removed that and added a new navigational method to the site called Sandwatch. In it, you will see different links like Collections, Forums, Staff, etc., and this section will continue to grow as time progresses. Something else that is new is the Sandtroopers.com Chat Room. Please keep in mind that this is an area of the site that cannot be administered by the Staff here, so we are not responsible for what is said in this environment. Lastly, the biggest noticeable change is that we have moved from two columns to three columns, providing more viewable content in the near future. Keep your eyes open for more content to be added here, and thank you for being a loyal Trooper to us. Until then, United We Find!

Halloween Costume Contest
Halloween Costume ContestHalloween is just around the corner, and I would like to ask all the Troops here to send in pictures of you in your Halloween costumes. In order to qualify you must hold up a piece of paper in the picture with Sandtroopers.com and your screen name written or printed on it. This will prove to us that this person is you, as some people may steal images from all over the Internet. These costumes do not have to be related only to Star Wars. Sandtroopers.com will accept all image submissions until Sunday, November 7, 2004 at 7:00pm (CST). After this date has passed I will post all submitted images on a single web page, and we will vote to see who has the best costume. The date of the drawing has yet to be determined, but will probably be only one week past the final date of submission. A prize will be given away to the person who has the best costume, and that prize will be the StarWarsShop.com exclusive OTC Holographic Emperor figure (courtesy of Jimsjedi). So, put on that Halloween costume of yours, submit a picture of yourself, and you could be the lucky winner of a new OTC Holographic Emperor figure!

I was allowed to open all 3 and this is what I found: 1st case-SAGA Jedi Luke wave, 2nd-first wave of OTC, 3rd-exact same case as the number 2 case, AARRRGGHHH! They do have Cantina scene 2 w/ Blue Snaggletooth (Zutton) on sale for $17.99, right after I paid $22 bucks 2 weeks ago. Wal-Mart is now stocked with over 30+ each of the new OTC Madine, AT-ST Solo, Bespin Leia and a few Lando mixed in...plus about 100 of the ANH wave VOTC figs, nothing new coming through here in about a year! Target has not had a new figure in over a month now! Double AAARRRGGHHHH! TRU still has no sign of OTC figs yet, but they did have the Y-Wings & Vader voice Changers...that's all from Central Texas, Starfox signing out...”

Sandtrooper ACPin Reports:
Sandtrooper ACPin is at it once again, with his incredible imagination in the world of LEGO, by creating scenes on Hoth from the Empire Strikes Back.

Echo Base EntranceEcho Base Arrival: Han on his Tauntaun reaches the main entrance to Echo Base as dusk looms in the horizon. The main hangar of the rebel base is in a flurry of activity as the various airships are going through maintenance checks. The Millenium Falcon is also undergoing much needed repairs to get its hyperdrive into full gear.

Bacta TankAlways Welding: 'Do you know why I had Chewbacca work with a welding torch on the Falcon? That was the only thing I could find where you could see what he was doing. If he was screwing something with a tool, you wouldn't see anything. So whenever anything needs fixing, you'll notice the characters are welding!' - Irvin Kershner (Director ESB)

Jawa Sandcrawler and Luke Mini Bust.
Well today I went to my Comic Shop to picked up my Exclusive Previews Jawa Sandcrawler and Gentle Giants Luke Mini Bust. The Jawa Sandcrawler is the same mold as the vintage remote controlled Jawa Sandcrawler. This version though has a much better paint job is made out of soft plastic. The battery compartment is still there but now it is a hidden chamber. The bad thing about the Jawa Sandcrawler is that the threads have no wheels, so rolling over the dunes of Tatooine is out. Finishing off the Jawa Sandcrawler is the three figures; two Jawas from the Jawa 2-pack long ago and a repaint of the Death Star Droid. The Jawa Sandcrawler'e retail is $49.99 - $59.99 pending on where you buy it.

The Luke Mini Bust is also out. All I can say is that it is another masterpiece from Gentle Giant. Luke is in his Rebel Pilot outfit with Helmet that can be worn on his head or he can hold it in his arms. Luke is retailing for $45.99 at most specialty stores now. Two new Star Wars items are out this week. Happy Hunting.

Site Update Coming Soon!
Within the next couple of days I will be updating the look of our website again, for the second time this year. With this update I will have fixed the navigation of the site, because some people are unable to view the drop-down menu (located at the top of the front page) due to Java problems on their computers. Most people have always been able to view it, but this is something that had to be resolved right away. You will know when it has changed, but I will probably make another announcement once it has taken place. My biggest concern in the matter is that everyone will be able to view all of our website, without having any problems navigating through it.

POLL: How Do You Rate the Star Wars Trilogy DVD Set?
DescriptionI'm pretty sure just about everyone here has purchased the new Star Wars Trilogy DVD set by now, and hopefully you've been able to enjoy them on several occasions in the comforts of your own surround sound entertainment system. I am somewhat curious to know what my fellow Troopers think about the video and audio quality of this DVD set. Was it worth the purchase? Probably so, but that doesn't mean you're completely satisfied with the quality that was put out by Lucasfilm.

I have started a poll in the forms asking people how they would rate the DVD set, in regards to the overall quality of the video and audio, and I would like to hear your opinion about the matter. On a scale of 1-5, where 5 is the highest amount of satisfaction and 1 is the lowest, most people have selected the rating of 4. So, hop on over to the forums and cast your vote, and then feel free to explain why you chose your specific rating of the film.

Are they still making these?“Found a good amount of stuff today. I took today off of work to look around and found the OTC General Madine wave at one of our Wal-Mart stores. I also found the OTC wave that includes Bib Fortuna and the Gamorrean Guard at TRU. The Leia Slave was in the assortment too. They also had the Vader Voice Changer. I went to TRU on Saturday and they sold out of the Y-wings I saw last Wednesday. They didn't have them today. Back to the same ol? situation here in Alabama!”

S.C.A.L.P. Counter Intelligence“Hi Troopers: Lisette from NYC reporting. The TRU in Times Square and Union Square had the Y-Wing for those of you in NYC looking for this. The TRU in Times Square also had the Darth Vader voice changer, but this was found on the shelf behind the cashiers on the 2nd floor. This TRU also had a couple of VOTC Boba Fett, Lando Calrissian, Chewbacca and Stormtroopers. That's all for now.”

Action Figures: How high could they go?
According to several websites and their price listings, it appears Star Wars figures will go up in price starting as early as with the first post OTC wave.

Online retailers show an increase of $15.00 when pre ordering future assortments of 3 ?-inch figures. The new higher price brings up the value on a case of 12 figures to a whopping $80.00 + shipping charges. Up to this point, and since the POTJ line, a case of action figures has retailed anywhere between $55.00 to $65.00 depending on the merchant..

The excuse for the price rise is said to be (as a well known webtailer claims it) the difficulty in finding new figures. Such "entertaining" store claims that: "Any Star Wars figure is going to be hard to get this Christmas season" and therefore the law of supply and demand will be applied. Funny to see, this same retailer has bragged about outselling Wal-Mart, yet they will be charging as much as almost $2.00 more per figure

The interesting thing is that online stores won't be the only ones increasing the price. Brick and mortar retailers will do so as well. Information obtained through a Target associate who wishes to remain anonymous claims that, they will be charging as much as $6.99 per figure starting with assortment #: 85172, which includes the Yarua/Pablo Jill wave.

With such bad distribution and many of OTC's tail end figures still not showing up in mass, we could very much expect to see OTC and post OTC figures on the pegs, same rehashes, going for $6.99 plus tax probably by year's end. Despite the different bar codes, their "ring up" will be adjusted to reflect the new, higher price.

Another excuse being thrown at us blames it on rising oil prices, as the resin used in plastic is indeed an oil based product. The manufacturing Asian toy market depends strongly on this resin and its price very well can remain at a high even long after oil prices could drop down. Thus the production and distribution of a toy becomes more expensive, translating into higher company spending and precipitating retail prices to increase in order to maintain a leveled profit. But haven't oil prices always been on the rise? When was the last time we paid $10.00 at the pump for a tank full of gas? Yet, the price on figures went down in passed years. So is oil really the issue here?

Honestly I believe this has nothing to do with supply and demand nor oil prices, but actually a greedy, manufactured attempt by the producing company at collectors' pockets as we enter the final stages of mass produced Star Wars toys with the release of the last Episode of the Saga.

Retailers are raising prices because Hasbro has raised their MSRP. Certainly it feels as a big slap on the face, seeing as we will that post OTC Wave 2 has ONLY three new figures and everything else in the case is rehashed OTC product.

But in your opinion:
- Is it far too early to panic about price hikes?
- What is the real reason behind all this?
- How do you feel about this?
- Will this have an effect on your buying and ordering?

Certainly the new higher price raises a lot of questions:
- Are we going to be getting a new card laminated in 24K gold?
- Will the figures walk and talk on their own?

More realistically... Will better materials be used for their production and better accessories supplied? Share your comments with us today. Post your thoughts on the subject or discuss it with us right here in our Forums. United ... we will find out!

Technology Behind the Making of the Star Wars Trilogy DVD Set
DescriptionToday, people are enjoying their purchase of the recently releasesd Star Wars Trilogy DVD set, in the comforts of their own home. The first two movies, The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, were filmed using digital cameras, and the use of that technology made editing the film that much easier to work with. However, the Original Trilogy (epsidodes IV through VI) were filmed on standard reel film, and throughout the years these reels collected dirt, dust and other harmful objects that deteriorated the quality of the film. With the latest technology, the crew at Lowry Digital Images spent thirty days cleaning up the film the best that they could. How did they clean up the film? They did so by using 600 Apple G5 computers! Read the full article written by BBC News.

Sandtrooper SoCal Dom Reports:
One of SoCal's Finest!“I am glad to see that everyone is finding a good majority of things. I have had some of the same luck, although it has been somewhat limited. I was able to score the Endor wave of figures and I picked up an extra set for a fellow trooper who needs it. All 3 would include the ATST Han, General Lando, and Madine. In addition, I also have an extra Cloud Car Pilot, Lobot, Bespin Leia and Scout trooper. I prefer to trade, as I am in need of 5 figures to complete the OTC line: #26 Luke Bespin, #27 IG-88, #29 Darth Vader - Hoth, #30 Gamorrean Guard, and #34 Darth Vader. I would prefer to trade one-for-one, but if nobody has anything, I will sell them at cost plus shipping.

I visited my local Toys R Us this week as well, and had some luck with the Y-wing; So Cal Rod, this pertains to you. I stopped in on Wednesday and asked the ever-so-busy associate to search her computer for the SKU # of the Y-wing, where her final answer was 4 in stock. With the idea that I was going to pick up 2 of them, one for myself, the other for fellow trooper Rod, she walked with me, over to the toy area, disgusted because she must have felt she had better things to do than render a little customer service. When we got there, also appearing a little distressed because of the long walk from the front counter, She then proceeded to inform me that the 4 were part of an assortment, and that the 4 tie fighters sitting on the shelf were the 4 shown to be in stock. I then asked how she could come up with that figure when there were 3 more Ties on the top shelves above, to which I was replied, "Those must not have been entered into inventory just yet." I then decided, after realizing this person was completely useless, I went to another associate to ask about backroom stock to which I was told, "I am not allowed to search in back for anything." I find this a little odd considering TRU's financial situation. You would think they would want to be selling anything they could possible to make a few dollars. Anyways, I went back the next day, and wouldn't you know, I see a collector with one in his hand, a little beaten up I might add. Went over to the section, all gone. Sorry Rod, I tried. I will keep checking, and I have an appointment with the manager Wed afternoon to discuss their practices.”

Sandtroopette Donna Reports:
S.C.A.L.P. Costal Defender“Hey Troops, Donna from So Cal with some luck hunting on Sat. Was able to snag the last VOTC Stormtrooper and Fett and a OTC handstand Luke at Wal-mart. The OTC Endor wave is starting to hit Target so I picked up the Han AT-ST. I went to 3 Targets and only one had the Slave I but all three boxes were damaged so I passed for now. No sign of the Y-wing or Voice Changers at my local TRU. Also no Cantina II yet at my K-mart. They still have plenty of scene I. Lastly, stopped by the Mall and found the Deluxe Stormtrooper Mini-Bust and Wizards Minatures at Suncoast and a complete set of the Bust-ups at Hot Topic. Happy Hunting to all.”

Sandtrooper SoCal Rod Reports:
“What a day it was, or should I say what a day it could have been. Started out at the Hemet Target where I scored OTC Lando General, Han Endor, and General Madine. Good start to the day. Proceeded to the Hemet K-mart, which had Cantina Set 2 in over abundance. Just came out and already a shelf warmer. It did hurt a bit shelling out $19.99 for basically blue snaggletooth and not much else, but I guess that is the way it goes. The Hemet K-mart also had the 12-inch VOTC Boba who seems to be showing up more frequently lately. I looked over the few Fetts they had on the shelf, but they all looked to me like they had gray suits. As a matter of fact every VOTC Fett I have ever saw seems to have a gray suit! Hit the Temecula Toys "R" Us next with the usually Saga rejects, Darth Vader Ties, and the Overstock at Carkoon (or is that Skirmish at Carkoon) set. The only sign of Y-wing was a big empty spot on the shelf with a shelf tag. I guess I missed out on that one. Also no sign of the Darth Vader voice changer as well, but that is okay. I ordered it yesterday on Amazon.com where it is 35% off with free shipping with only one catch, does not ship until Novemeber 1st. Went to the Temecula K-mart next where they had an even bigger back log of Cantina Scene 2 then the Hemet K-mart, which had a pretty healthy Scene 2 supply. Get ready to see this scene taking up shelf space for years to come. Also checked a few Wal-Mart?s in the southland with zero luck. It seems the only thing Wally is getting in now-a-days in my neck of the woods are the VOTC figs.

To end the day, I spent three hours out in the garage trying to carve a Boba Fett pumpkin. Even though I had a template to give me a pattern for Fett this was a very difficult task. Thank God Halloween is only once a year because carving with an exacto knife all of Boba's detail is about as time consuming and frustrating as it gets. Although I must admit, once I was done and the candle under the pumpkin was lit with the lights out the pumpkin actually did resemble Boba Fett. I would have to say if I were driving down the street and saw this pumpkin on somebody else?s porch I would know.... that?s Boba Fett. Will be interesting to see if any of the neighborhood kids will know!”

Sandtrooper Jetfire bringing you some store reporting in style!
Deep recon from the Great Lakes state!Either after work or between the wedding ceremony and the reception while being all dressed up, this trooper is out hunting all the time for the latest goods. The Grand Rapids Target on Alpine has the Slave-1's. First time I've seen this in Michigan. A very nice piece indeed! Nothing on the pegs after the big sale that took everything BUT the old Saga pegwarmers. The Wal-Mart stores in the area have been quite lacking of anything new in quite a while, but they did put out a nifty Star Wars LEGO display that is about pallet size. It might be good for storing some toys. Meijers seems to be the place to find stuff these days as I came across the VOTC R2-D2, Lando, Chewbacca, Boba Fett, and Stormtrooper. They also put out a bunch of OTC Jawas and Tusken Raiders to help keep the OTC Snowtroopers company. They have by far the greatest selection of OTC figs in the area. Nothing new at our TRU's. We've still got a few POTJ Bo Shek's on the pegs at my local TRU as well as a ton of the Falcon's on the top shelves. No Vader voice changers yet either. Only thing that looked fresh was the Galactic Hero 2-packs with the ESB bounty hunters. All in all, it doesn't really seem like we've gotten anything substantially new in many moons. That's it for this time. Please keep this trooper in mind if you find a way to snag the display for the Sam's Club Falcon (see through oval with the ship and figures inside) or the Costco X-wing/TIE dogfight 2-pack. Sandtrooper Jetfire out!

Area Report: Your Powers are Weak Old Dad!
Thought I'd get dusty, thought I'd get rusty, thought I'd get rich and quit, he must be tired broke, black and blue But I'm trim fit rich and back for round IISince I haven?t heard from my local S.C.A.L.P. Trooper Dennis in quite some time, I decided to do some advanced recon and Y-Wing hunting of my own. The Target in Waukegan only had remnants of the OTC wave 1 and 2. Han Solo, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan and the many rehashes we all knew would be pegwarmers when the line was unveiled. There was no sign of the Slave I either in Waukegan or Gurnee Target stores which had pretty much the same selection of broke a#$ figures. The Toys R Us had plenty of the Skirmish at Carkoon, Endor 4-packs. There was also an abundant supply of the Darth Vader voice changer and I just couldn?t say no to my son pleading for it! There was one Wicket OTC figure and the rest were Saga warmers. The Wal-Mart in Gurnee had one lone Darth Vader Collector case, many of OTC figures as well. Mostly 1-25 but nothing rare or something I don?t already have. There were also quite a few VOTC style 12-inch figures even Boba Fett. The Kmart in Zion still had plenty of the Cantina Scene I with no sign of II though. I?ll keep my ear to the rail and hopefully they will show up soon. No sooner than I could post Jedimaster C?s report of the local comic shops the phone rang and it was my local shop saying they would arrive next week! I am thrilled with this news, not only I have a cool piece I picked up months ago, my son now has a great Christmas present for this December! Good luck Troops, keep the good word coming in and the only bad news is NO news!

Force of the Bay: The Greatest comeback in Ebay History!
Once again it was time to scourge the depths of ebay, and every time I find something worth bringing to you. There are some of the most accurate representations of costuming available in the props section. You never know what kind of things that could compliment your Halloween costume, you could also use that as a double for display purposes as well. You are most certain to find things from your days of Star Wars past, a ride down memory lane to your 1st grade lunchroom in this case. I really like the many Sandtrooper impressions on that article. You?re not too handy with the hands? Look no further than the depths of your wallet, and the props section. You may even find reasons to remember why Kenner was so great, and Hasbro could care less about us. I don?t recall Hasbro ever offering any kickbacks, only worthless Jedi Points and the ridiculous auctions last year. You don?t want to wait until next year for the Sandblast? You need that rare figure now? A little patience and a lot of money and it will soon be all yours. You could make the comparison to old and new as well. The hundred plus dollar R2-D2 that was sold back in 2002 to the original automated R2 unit! What the heck ever happened to those things anyway? They were supposed to be the coolest thing since sliced bread, and they just faded away. I guess we can again pin the blame on Hasbro, someday we shall get our Revenge. Whatever you are searching for is just a click away. It is all about the unique and you can definitely find it on the bay. You can find almost anything to add instant flavor to your collections. Remember Sandtroopers.com neither endorses nor authenticates any of the items featured here. Good luck to you great Troopers in your searches, Kick A$% and take names!

Sandtrooper Jon Reports:
Bleeds Armor“Ann Arbor, MI: The VOTC ROTJ has been hitting Meijer stores in southern Michigan with regularity for the past week, but they don't last on the pegs for more than a day. The Toys "R" Us in Ann Arbor had four Y-Wings on the shelf today, and the packages were all basically mint. Also, the same store had a mountain of Darth Vader voice changers. I never thought that I would buy one, but after seeing one in person, it's pretty cool. There has been little else new in the area. Targets and Wal-marts in the area haven't put out new stock in over a week. I'm still hunting for Slave 1 and the final OTC figures. No luck so far. Keep on Sandtroopin'!”

Sandtrooper Shahbaz Reports:
“It?s tough to find anything these days here in So. Cal, but I have had a little luck. The Wal-Mart in Duarte had many pegs of the OTC Endor wave with Lando, Han AT-ST, and the General, including some Jawas and Tuskins I haven?t found a figure at Target or K-mart in months. But K-mart does have plenty of the 2nd Cantina Scene, and I found one Unleashed Clonetrooper. I don?t collect these, but I picked it for a trooper who wants to trade. Other then that, all I have to say is that Master Replicas knows as little about their rewards program as they do about their actual replicas. It?s like they make up the rules as they go. Great products, terrible customer service!”

Slices: An in depth look at Plastic Crime
It's happened to all of us; even if it hasn't directly touched us, we at least know about someone, either a relative or a friend, that have gone through the forever agonizing experience of this horrendous crime. A crime commonly committed in practically every city of our Nation, a crime where its perpetrators, hide and slice without any compassion.

We feel our blood boiling like lava from Mount St. Helens. We sense our temperature rise uncontrollably. We touch our ears and quickly pull away our hands as if the heat emitting from our biological listening pieces was ready to turn our fingers into a blob of melted butter... What has caused this sudden atmospheric change within our cranial world? ... Curious?

Take a ride on the wild side. A new slice attack is about to take place. Beware!

Sandtrooper George Reports:
“Ghost of QG from Kansas City here. Found some good stuff this week. Hot Topic (a t-shirt store) got in the Gentle Giant Bust-Ups in. Was able to get a complete set and both versions of Leia. K-Mart's got in the second wave of Cantina Sets, Toy?s-R-Us got the Y-Wing?s, and Target's had the Jedi Force Playskool figures (only got the Vader). Since Target does not have the Jedi Force figures on the alignment, you may need to get a stroker to check the backroom for you, like I did. The DCPI number is 087-06-1283. Thanks guys and always remember: Make the world a better place, punch a scalper in the face!”

Also the FAO website is back up with some neat collectibles you Troopers may want to check out.”

Sandtrooper Jedimaster-C Reports: Y-Wings land in Alabama!
Are they still making these?“I went to TRU today after work and found the OTC Y-wing. It was a cool looking ship and it is fully put together in the box. Unlike the last version that was impossible to find. The only draw back is the R2 unit is not removable again. I?m out, and I hope the rest of you guys have the same luck finding the Y-Wing.”

Sandtrooper TK799 Reports:
“Hi, here in Northeast Texas at the Atlanta, TX Wal-Mart, I stumbled upon the VOTC ROTJ Stormtrooper, Chewbacca, Boba Fett, R2-D2 and ESB Lando Calrissian, all mint in their plastic protective cases. They also had the VOTC ESB Vader and the ?96 Princess Leia. There was roughly three of each after I purchased mine and if anyone would like for me to pick them up for them, I gladly will. I would only charge what I paid for them plus shipping. Please feel free to e-mail me. Glad to be of any help, Shawn Fitzgerald TK799 501st Star Garrison.”

Images Reloaded: 2005 have Arrived!
FIVE YES FIVE new figures! GO Hasbro! The 2005 Images section has been built early this year with the surprise release of the new Post-OTC figures. Pablo-Jill, Yarua, Sly Moore, Queen Amidala and Rabe are the first look at the new line for 2005! What a delight it was to not see any rehashes in this assortment. From the news I've heard, they are coming don't worry, they'll stick Han Solo ANH down our throats again but we can all grab ankles later. For now enjoy the new figures, it doesn't come like this too often! We would like to thank our Sponsor Big Bad Toy Store for the figures. They are currently SOLD OUT of these, but will be getting them back in stock very soon!

Today in the mail I received a large envelope from Lucasfilm. Inside was the 2004 Fan Club Kit. It contains: A Darth Vader 2004 Club Card, Return of the Jedi Heritage Card, $2.00 rebate for "The Unifying Force" book, Lego poster of the Falcon and X-Wing chased by TIE Fighters, 2004 Code 3 Calendar, Empire Strikes Back Trading Card Game Poster, and a double sided fan fold of Jabba the Hutt and Geonosis showing the Droid Army and ships. I am not sure why this 2004 Fan Club Kit was sent to me since 2004 is almost over. Keep your eyes open you might receive one as well.

Sandtrooepr Jon Reports: "We have a Strong Occupancy of Ohio, moving in for the Kill!"
Bleeds Armor“I was down in Toledo, OH today, so I hit the usual toy retailers to see if there was anything new. The Toys R' Us on Monroe St. had two of the new Y-Wings, but both of the packages were pretty messed up for toys that are new to the shelf. (I hope mine arrive via mail in better shape.) In terms of OTC/VOTC figures, the store had mostly SAGA peg-warmers, which have been sitting there for months and months. I stopped at two Targets, but no Slave 1 at either. The Wal-Mart on Central Ave. has a ton of SAGA peg-warmers, but nothing else. The K-Mart on Central Ave. was packed with the SAGA Star Destroyer Wave, which has been warming the pegs for a few weeks, but no Cantina Scene #2. I'm hoping for better luck this week as new trucks roll into town. Keep on Sandtroopin'!”

Sandtrooper Tom Reports:
“Just might want to let fellow troopers know, the Hallmark Star Destroyer ornament plays a line of dialogue from C-3PO. I tried it out in the store and it sounds really bad, not even like C-3PO, so I opened mine up at home and tried it out with the same result. My friend had one, and I listened to his. His was ok, and sounded like C-3PO. I thought maybe it was the light set that I had plugged it into, so I tried mine at his place, and it still sounded bad. I went back to the store and tried about 6 or 7 and they were all bad, so I had an associate check for more in the back. She brought a box out, and we tried it out, it was ok so I grabbed it. To the normal person, they might not notice, but to a Star Wars fan, it is noticeable, and for the $28.00 price, I thought you might like to pass this on. They had a problem like this a few years ago with a Lion King Ornament where it played music but sounded awful, so it was recalled and reissued without the sound effect. You never know if this might happen to this ornament.”

Sandtrooper Forcehunter Reports:
“Forcehunter reporting in. It was a win some lose some day before and after work on Saturday. I paid a visit to TRU on Phillips. Nothing new Star Wars wise, but Lord Of The Rings wise, I have to keep my eyes open. The Attack Troll assortment from the deluxe line is out here. I missed the Troll by maybe an hour as I saw the box and the two Eomers packed with him. Note to self, camp out there. In addition, the Two Towers 3rd series was there, but again, I missed the key figure, Isengard orc, the most accurate (IMO) orc warrior of the movies. Went on to the GI Joe section and finally found three re-issue V.A.M.P. on the shelf. Too bad they did not have them during the buy 2 get 1 free sale. Grabbed the last of the Cables from ML6. Still looking for Phoenix and Dead Pool.

Target on Southside. Can we say BARE? I did finally score a Cloud Car Pilot there however. Other than that, only four Lobots on the pegs. I can only hope they are clearing out to put the Christmas goodies out.

Wal-Mart on San Jose: OTC Lando General's Gear. Only one on the peg. They did have Bespin Leia and a few of the usual Dagobah suspects. To my surprise, Transformer wise they had two Energon Shockblasts (Known in the 80s as Shockwave) and one remaining TF Alternators Silverstreak. I must have missed Hound by a day according to the girl who I talk to there occasionally. One remaining Sharticon there too.”

The Force hits Indy, well the Playskool Jedi Force that is.
Today on my way home I made a quick stop at the Target in Plainfield. Nothing for regular Star Wars on the pegs. As I walked through toys I saw and picked up the Jedi Force figures. They stand about 6" tall and made for little kids hands. The light-up features are really cool. Currently there are four sets: Darth Vader and Imperial Claw Droid, Chewbacca with Wookie action tool, Luke Skywalker with Jedi Jet Pack, and C-3P0 and R2-D2. Check out your local Target store for these toys at $7.99 each. Happy Hunting and may the Jedi Force be with you.

Area Report: From the Cross Roads of America!
The K-Mart on West Washington St this evening had one Cantina #2 set. I picked it up. The Blue Snag is the red Zutton head and body with the Cantina Ponda Baba arms and legs all painted blue. At Wal-Mart I picked up the Ripped TMNT figures. Other than that nothing poping up.

Area Report: Deep Recon in Miami
While some Toys R Us stores have gotten again the VOTC Chewie wave in good numbers, others are still "packing a punch" with two year old Saga pegwarmers taking up to ten pegs full. They also have a "great, truckload selection" of POTJ Red Snaggletooth, going from mint cards to totally destroyed ones as well as lots and lots of Vader's TIE, already a huge dust collector and shelf warmer!

Do they actually think they will ever get rid of these figures and ships? What's more important, do they really care? I'm about to give them a helping hand by emptying those pegs somewhere in the store? Should I ? Perhaps then, they will decide to put out some new stuff! I asked at Toys R US about the RED Y -Wing and Silver Vader (both exclusives to their store) and I felt I was talking Mandarin to them! They had no idea about this?? Best thing to do is keep checking.

As for Wal-Mart, dang! I was amazed last night to find EP 1 figures in perfect condition! Three full pegs! They were Yoda with chair (no logo), Naboo Soldier and OOM-9 (binoculars in hand). About ten of each! One can tell warehouse-cleaning time is up, in order to get ready for Xmas, and they are bringing out these "antiques" from some dark, hidden corner in the back. The funny thing is that although these "rarities" were out, the rest of the pegs were packed with old Saga figures and the OTC pegwarmers of Lobot and Cloud car pilot ...No VOTC, nor newer OTC waves!

Target is a hit and miss situation. Sometimes you flip ... sometimes you flop! Must be a sign of the times.

While they have gotten some new OTC in the last two weeks (the last wave with most of the cards being ran over by a bulldozer!), sometimes you walk in and the pegs are all empty with just one figure hanging. Since their scanners show you if they have more items in the back, I have scanned the one figure only to get a "NO STOCK IN BACK ROOM" read out.

K-Marts? Well, besides the Cantina Mantis set, they are the usual mess ... and I better leave it at that. Rrrrrrghhh! This has been a weekly report brought to you from The Banana Republic of Miami. I hope your Florida area is luckier than this swamp!

Sandtrooper Starfox Reports:
Bleeds Armor“Things have been a little dry here in Central Texas the past few weeks, but I've tried to seed the rain clouds and see what falls from the heavens. The Wal-Mart in Killeen received a case of the Bounty Hunter Galactic Heroes, with the double Stormtrooper 2-pack, anyone notice on the Boba Fett/Dengar pack that the figures are opposite of their pictures? And we still have about 50 ANH VOTC figs choking the pegs, no new waves in the foreseeable future. More good news though, TRU received a case of 4 Y-Wings in today, very sharp looking except for the cheesy R2 unit (blah). They also still have a bunch of old Saga figs there, so we have not even seen one OTC figure at this TRU yet! Target has almost been the worst culprit of all, 5 VOTC Solo?s hanging around and some old Saga Anakin figures littering the pegs. They had the BIG Star Wars sale last week and didn't put one new figure out! What is up with this? Target, you killed me this past week! Kmart did put out the Vader VOTC wave earlier this week and they still have a few Cloud Car Pilots and some Lobot's chillin' on the shelf. KB Toys is still a joke, but they finally marked down the 50+ EP1 Nute Gunray's down from $4.99 to $2.99 plus they are now at 75% off that price, Woo Hoo! psyche! Woo hoo denied, but hopefully that will open some room for some new stuff. They also had the 12-inch Gamorrean Guard on sale at 30% off. That's all from central Texas, Starfox signing out...”

Sandtrooper Jon Reports:
“While I was out today, I stopped at the Wal-Mart in Bellville, MI and found the ESB and ROTJ Commemorative DVD figure 3 packs. I have been looking for these for the past month at various Wal-Mart?s without luck. These packs were not found by the DVDs or Star Wars figures but were found on a back shelf with clearance toys. The price was not marked down however. There is still 3-4 of each remaining, but the packages are not all mint. They were actually dusty, so I'm sure they will still be there for a while. I'm still on the hunt for the final OTC figures. Hopefully, they will hit soon. I'll let you know when I find them and Slave I.”

Sandtrooper Jedi-Hawk Reports:
Texas S.C.A.L.P. Border Patrol“Troops, its been a while since I reported in. So I just wanted to post some info for the Central Texas area. Not too much to report unfortunately. But today my TRU had some Galactic Heroes on the Truck and also the new Y-Wing. They have not put them out yet but I know they were on the truck. Not sure what else it there. My Wal-Mart's are overrun with the VOTC Wave from ANH. And still have lots of 2004 SAGA and a few OTC Figures. But most of the pegs are full with peg warming product. The local Target has not stocked anything since 2 weeks ago when I picked up the VOTC ROTJ wave. And since then not one single figure. (At least that I have found) So maybe soon and maybe not. Still looking to complete by OTC basic figure collection before the holiday season. Not sure it that one is going to happen. Well that about sums up...well not much. Hunt'em Down troops.”

Sandtrooper Ryan the Hutt Reports:
“I just thought I'd drop you a line and let you know that the Newest VOTC figures are showing up in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. I found the Stormtrooper and the Boba Fett at the Wal-Mart on 28th ST. in Cascade yesterday. Unfortunately, I bought the last one of each. But it's encouraging to see new stuff showing up. The Stormtrooper is extremely cool. I wish I had twenty of them.”

Images Reloaded: What is Thy Bidding, my Master?
What is thy bidding? Hopefully $10.99 with free shipping! The 2004 Images section has been updated with the Exclusive Holographic Emperor. The StarWarsShop.com was a pleasant surprise, seeing as I'm hearing from many Troopers they are finally shipping the Exclusives in Star Cases and tons of bubble wrap. Too bad they didn't think of this when the Silver Sandtrooper was distributed several months ago, however a nice looking figure that adds a little bit of flavor to all of our collections.

Sandtrooper Jetfire reports:
Deep recon from the Great Lakes state!“Sandtrooper Jetfire bringing you another store report from the Grand Rapids, MI area. Started off with the TRU on 28th St and found nothing new. On top of that, the SW stuff was limited to an island/endcap type display. They did have some of the second wave of OTC figs, but not much else. If you are looking for the new Vader TIE, then this is the place to go. Using the word "multiple" doesn't do the situation justice. They're still at $30, but I foresee these things going on clearance sooner rather than later. It was then on to the Target and Meijers in Jenison where everything was just about tapped out. Nothing at all worth mentioning except that it looked like Meijers dropped the price on the FX lightsabers by a few bucks. My last stop was at the Wal-mart in Grandville on 44th St. They had both General Madine and AT-ST Han of the OTC line and the ROTJ 3-pack (Emperor, Vader, and Stormtrooper.) Granted I like this one out of the three, but they could have done a better job on the Emperor who ends up looking like a stunt double from the movie Willow. That's it for this time. Please keep this trooper in mind if you find a way to snag the display for the Sam's Club Falcon (see through oval with the ship and figures inside) or the Costco X-wing/TIE dogfight 2-pack. Sandtrooper Jetfire out!”

The new #4 and #5 Three-Pack with comic sets have arrived and we've restocked the #1, #2, and #3 sets as well. The Snake eyes figure in the new set is designed closely after the 1982/83 straight arm Snake Eyes - a must have figure. A few new 12-inch figures have arrived, MSPF Marine and the awesome Marine Squad Leader, which either talks or yells depending on how hard you press the button on his stomach. His mouth opens and facial expression also changes with how hard the button is pressed, very fun item. Valor vs. Venom Wave 5 will be here in around 10 days.

Final Vintage Sale - 20% Off & New Website Notes: Every vintage item must go! The discount is currently at 20% off; we will raise the discount to 30%, 40% and beyond throughout the next 4 - 5 weeks! Please take a look at the vintage menus and keep this sale in mind over the next month since the discounts will get larger and larger. We are preparing to launch 'Version 1.5' of our website in the next 4 - 5 weeks (and the final 'Version 2.0' in early 2005') the new website requires different data structures for our products and the vintage items do not meet those requirements. There are too many items to re-list so we decided to clearance it all out! The vintage department will be back shortly after 'Version 1.5' goes live and they will be better than ever with improved listings that will be fully integrated with normal store products, all products will be searchable, filterable, and dynamically organized in our new menu system! Be cautious when waiting for discounts to rise since someone else may purchase the item you want at the current discount level. PLEASE read the rules on this sale on the main vintage menu page.

Sandtrooper Rod Reports: Y-Wing on the Shelf!
“Today I found the new Y-Wing in Potomac Mills, VA at Toys R Us. Very cool; the pilot is the same as the earlier release with a slightly different pant job. The ship looks nice as it flies down the trench towards the main reactor. So check your stores.”

Sandtrooper Keith Reports:
“I recently went to a show out here in Vancouver called the "One Man Star Wars Show" performed by Charles Ross. This guy has been touring across Canada performing at the Fringe festivals. He does the Trilogy by himself with no props or the like in about one hour and it is absolutely hilarious. He told the crowd that he did one show in Chicago and from that he was contacted by Lucasfilm to do a performance for the big guy himself. He has been asked to perform at Celebration III. So I strongly suggest to all of you who get the chance to see his performance to do so. I guarantee you will walk away with a big smile.”

Sandtrooper One Big K Reports:
S.C.A.L.P. Demolition Expert, Columbus,OH“Nothing new to report on my toy run tonight. Wal-Mart is overloaded with the first Wave of the VOTC pegwarmers ? a.k.a. Luke, Han and Obi-Wan. Also the 1st wave of the OTC figures. Nothing new at Target and Star Wars toys not us ?a.k.a. Toys R Us. Meijers has the same stuff as Wal-Mart, but I did get lucky and was able to score the OTC trilogy floor display - it was almost empty and I ask if I could have it - the force was with me I guess. I am still looking for the second K-mart cantina set 2, Costco ship exclusive, OTC figures #29 and higher and some of the last VOTC figures as well. Have lots to trade or would pay cost plus shipping.”

Sandwatch Action Figure Reviews Updated: Lobot #20 and TIE Pilot #21
Hey Troops, Sandwatch Action Figure Reviews have been updated with figures #20 & #21 from the OTC collection. As Stuart Scott from ESPN would say "Tri-fecta, YOU betcha!" Hasbro drops three all new figures in a row but can the trend continue to figure #21? We all know the answer to that, but all good things must come to an end. However, they didn't disappoint completely. There is a lot worse they could do than another TIE Pilot! Feel free to offer your own feedback about the OTC collection. Until then enter if you dare!

“Hello to all. Today I found cantina scene 2 at the K-mart in Springfield Va. No sign of Slave 1 at Target. So take care everyone. P.S. The only figure worth it is the Blue Snaggletooth. If he is worth 20 bucks, I will have to think about that one.”

James Earl Jones... Once a Quiet Man?
James Earl Jones... Once a Quiet Man?Reuters wrote a very interesting article today about James Earl Jones, who at one point in his life he did not like speaking. As a child he had gone eight years without speaking, because he had a bad stuttering problem. It's ironic though that this child, who didn't like speaking, became the intimidating and unforgettable voice of Darth Vader years later. Read the full article here.

Midwest Garrison at Chicago's Museum of Science & IndustryMembers from the 501st Legion Midwest Garrison will make another appearance at Chicago's Museum of Science & Industry on Saturday, October 30, 2004, where they will be the center of attention for the exhibit "Action: An Adventure in Movie Making". Darth Spice and I worked with the Midwest Garrison when they did this same event on August 7, 2004, while Chewbacca and Han Solo stole the show with their incredible costumes. Other characters that showed up that day were Indiana Jones, Captain Jack Sparrow, Beetlejuice, and Nightcrawler from X-men. If you live in the Chicagoland area you don't want to miss out on this great event!

Force of the Bay: Gettin' Freaky with It!
Hey Troopers, it?s that time of year again and it?s getting spooky out there, you may want to be on guard. It?s that time of year when you could end up with a gang of treats to add to your endless Star Wars collections that grow with every passing holiday. So if you are going to be scared easily, perhaps you should consult your physician and see if it is something that can be cured. One thing that can?t be cured is my love for ebay. I have found the greatest Star Wars items in the free world over the years, and the risk of getting burned can sometimes be the thrill of the moment. Some of the sellers may tantalize you with more than one great thing to offer. Others may have the very first of its kind. So commence primary ignition and take aim, the world is yours my Sandtroopers. If you fear the scalper then take aim, it is your enemy that will fall in defeat. You may think twice about dealing with a snake, but you may find others to help you out down the road. There may be more than one, but the possibilities are endless. If you search hard enough, you may find the right hardware to assist you on your next next raid! Remember Sandtroopers.com neither endorses nor authenticates any of the items featured in this column. Good luck to all this Halloween season, Kick A#% and take Names!

Special Thanks to S.C.A.L.P. Trooper Devils Ewok for his find of the Flamethrower! United We Find.

Sandtrooper Jetfire reports: Northwestern Indiana findings
Taking the S.C.A.L.P. fight to the Hoosier state!“Sandtrooper Jetfire reporting in after a recon mission to Northwestern Indiana. Hit a few stores in the Mishawaka area including K's Merchandise (a new one for me), Wal-mart, Sam's Club, and Target. Missed the TRU closing time by a few minutes. Not a whole lot to report from that area. The usual VOTC peg warmers that we've all come to love (Ben, Han, Luke, and Leia) and a few scattered early OTC figs. The second wave of Galactic Heroes also answered the roll call for the area. However, the Sam's Club did have a kick butt display for their Exclusive Millennium Falcon that I would love to get my hands on. Basically an oval shapped transparent case that houses both the Falcon and all the figures. Very, very cool indeed. On Sunday, I focused on the Plymouth and South Bend areas. The Wal-mart in Plymouth had a bunch of the Unleashed X-wing Luke's, but not much else. Plymouth K-mart was pretty much non-existent. On to the Target by Scottsdale Mall in South Bend only to be rewarded with the new OTC Slave-1. They had nine total and most were in good shape. This thing is very sweet in my opinion. Only one was down with the rest of the SW toys so check up high if you go in looking for one. Well, that's it from my mission to the cornfields of Indiana. If anyone does manage to get their hands on that Sam's club display, please be sure to let me know and I'll be happy to trade. Sandtrooper Jetfire out! ”

“I have some sad news. This is not Star Wars but Christopher Reeve has passed away from heart failure. Rest in peace Superman.”

Sandtrooper SoCal Rod Reports:
“SoCal Rod here having just completed another toy run in "Arid" southern Cali with limited success. Hit a Toys "R" us Moreno Valley, Target Moreno Valley, Wal-Mart Moreno Valley, and Target Hemet and found pretty close to "nothing". Actually the Hemet Target did have "absolutely nothing". The six or so pegs set aside for Star Wars figures were completely void of anything...nothing. There was not even a VOTC Ben or Han to speak of. Took the advice of fellow ST Legend JediDom and marched up to customer service for a rain check. Got a rain check for eight figures at $3.88. The rain check is good until November 24th.

The Toys "R' Us Moreno Valley was the only thing worth mentioning today as they were stocking OTC figures as I walked up. I was hoping I had hit the mother load, but my hopes were dashed upon further inspection when I found out they had only put out one case of the Dagobah assortment plus a Stormie or two and Boba. It was neat to see the OTC Boba again. It had been a while. To salvage something out of the day! I did buy a VOTC R2 and Stormtrooper just to say I bought something today. No sign of VOTC Boba, the Y-wing, or silver Vader. As a final note they did have a healthy supply of the Vader TIE Fighter, but at $29.99 I will wait until clearance.

The rest of the day was fruitless as the Moreno Valley Target had very little Star Wars and Wal-Mart their usual nothing. So much for the "left coast" getting all the toys. Finished the day in a high note by being the winning ebay bidder on an Encuentros Luke and R2-D2 2-pack from the Mexico City Star Wars Convention. Didn't even have to pay an arm and a leg!”

Sandtrooper ACPin: More Scenes from ESB
Sandtrooper ACPin has done it again, with his incredible imagination in the world of LEGO, by creating scenes on Hoth from the Empire Strikes Back.

Echo Base EntranceEcho Base Entrance: The main entrance to Echo Base is zealously guarded by the rebel troopers. Rotating shifts of infantry scouts are sent on reconnaisance patrols to scout for any signs of Imperial activity within the active perimeter of the base. A tauntaun rider from afar has been sighted that approaches the guarded entrance.

Bacta TankBacta Tank: The containment cylinder fills with rejuvenating bacta fluid that is capable of healing even the most grievous wounds. Medical droids closely monitor the patient, who is suspended in the fluid. Luke Skywalker spent time in a bacta tank, recovering from exposure and dormo-shock suffered from spending a night in a Hoth blizzard.

Images Reloaded: Impressive, most impressive!
Throwin' ya a Bone! The 2004 Images section have been updated with OTC Vintage Style Boba Fett, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and the Imperial Stormtrooper. We also have obtained the Silver Darth Vader Exclusive. Every single one of the Vintage OTC figures are a compliment anybody's collection. If you have enjoyed the last eight figures from the VOTC line, you will REALLY like the four of these. The Silver Darth Vader pales in comparison to the Original that was released years ago at New York Toy Fair. However I'm sure most of us will be glad to wrap up what is rumored to be the last of the Silver Figures! We'd like to thank Jim at Federation Toys for hooking us up with the figures for our Images section this time around! They have most of these figures in stock and shipping now!

Sandtrooper Jetfire Reports: Area Findings
DEEP Recon in the Great Lakes State!“Hey Troops, Sandtrooper Jetfire here with another store report from Holland, MI. I started off at Meijers to find out that the only new thing was the VOTC 12" Boba Fett (grey suit.) They did have a nice selection of the OTC figs (Tusken Raider, Jawas, Snowtrooper) but I passed. Granted that most of you have been seeing these for a while, but they're new in my area. I did however take the time to play with the MR FX lightsaber display. Too much fun chasing people with those things. Just kidding! Moving on to K-mart, I was deeply disappointed. Nothing new at all...almost nothing period except for the VOTC peg warmers and a lone Cantina set (mantis lady.) Next it was on to TRU where again, my expectations fell short. Nothing new at all. I was expecting to see the Y-wing as it's due to ship anyday now. Well, I saddled up the Dewback to visit to Target in hopes of FINALLY finding the Slave-1 or the new VOTC. Just a Lobot, Bespin Leia, and roughed up Millennium Falcon plus the leftovers from the Saga waves. So Troops, that's it. I might try and hit some out of town stores this weekend in hopes of finding something worthwhile. Until then, looks like I'll be trading for most of my wants like the Sam's Club Falcon, Slave-1, Y-wing, and COSTCO X-wing/TIE 2-pack.”

Sandtrooper Jedimaster-C Reports:
Are they still making these?“I went to Target this morning and they still had the sale on most of their figures until Oct 9th. The only thing they had new was the VOTC Stormtrooper and Boba Fett. They only had one of each left. Since I found them at TRU Saturday I let a fellow collector get them. Target marked the basic figures to $3.88, VOTC was $7.99 and the 12-inch VOTC were $23.99. Just wanted to let the Troops know.”

Takara Transformers: Binaltech: BT-08 Mazda RX-8 Meister (Jazz) has just arrived! We have listed Meister for $54.99 - available in either red or white versions. The set of red and white versions is also available for $107.99 for both figures. This figure has a nice amount of die-cast metal parts (roof, doors, hood, rear panels) and the head definitely captures the look of Jazz.

Re-Issues: The #16 Insecticon Re-Issue set is now in stock for $39.99 and features more nice Dreamwave artwork on the cover and interior. The box itself has lime green highlights that give it a much brighter look than most of the other re-issue sets. Bombshell, Kickback, and Shrapnel each come with their original chrome G1 weapons and 3 small energon cubes were added to the set for a nice effect. The repaint exclusive Insecticon sets arrive to us later this week and are available for $54.99.

Superlink: Headlining the new arrivals is the awesome SC-26 Superion Gift Set - The box is surprising large and figures are packaged in a nice window display box in both robot and vehicle mode. It will be at least several months for all 5 of the figures to be released domestically by Hasbro and this is probably the only way to get them together in a more collectable Gift-Set version. S.N.A.G. Trooper Eric Reports:
“S.N.A.G. trooper Eric here. Hey Troops, does anyone out there have an extra VOTC Boba Fett (3 ?-inch)? Or could someone pick one up if they see it? I've bought a home and I'm finding it harder to get out there and find the good stuff. I don't want to miss this figure. I'm an avid Fett collector. I would appreciate it!”

Sandtrooper Jorge Reports:
“Jorge Perez from Massachusetts. I wanted to ask any of the troopers that live near a Meijer store if they can help me find a set of the exclusive 12-inch Adventure Team GI Joes (2 released priced at $14.99 each). We don't have any Meijers around here. I could work out a trade or pay cost plus shipping, drop me an email and let me know your want items. About Star Wars, I've seen recently most figures except the OTC Madine wave and beyond. And VOTC up to ROTJ minus Chewie and R2, spotted them at TRU in South Bay, and a few a Targets.”

Sandtrooper SoCal Dom Reports: Keepin' it Real!
One of SoCal's Finest!“Just thought I would give everybody a heads up on something. As most of you probably have figured out or already knew, if you take all of your receipts from Target that you have made a purchase from within the last 14 days, Target will issue a refund for the differences to the current sale. I recently bought the Slave 1, three Unleashed figs and 2 OTC figures and the refund amounted to a little over $14. Hey, I could use that extra little bit. That paid for my Emperor figure from the Star Wars Shop! Anyways, good luck with that. Also, is there anybody out there that can help me with the most recent OTC figures, starting with #23? It has been desolate out here in So Cal and I am just looking to buy at cost, or trade if possible. Please email me your offers. Oh, I almost forgot, does anyone know what the exact status is on the Silver TRU exclusive Vader? When will they be released? Keepin' it real in the Inland Empire!”

    Sandtroopette Donna Reports:
S.C.A.L.P. Costal Defender“Hey Troops,, Donna from So Cal reporting in. Here are my finds over the weekend. Picked up the Costco exclusive TIE Fighter/X-wing Combo and my aunt picked up the Sams Club exclusive Falcon w/figs. Went by 3 Targets hoping to find some new figs for $3.88 but no luck. Also no sign of the exclusive Slave One either. But our Targets finally put the Lego At-At on clearance for $69.99. Not as good as those lucky troops who found these for $25. Lastly, finally found something new at Wal-mart. Even though still no signs of a display, was able to locate on the pegs mostly the last of the OTC figs. Scored Tuskin, Madine, General Lando, both Vaders (#29 and #34), Slave Leia, Skiff Lando, and Bib Fortuna. Also at Wal-mart found a new OTC Monopoly set with 8 pewter tokens including Tarkin, Lando, TIE Fighter, and Tusken Raider. Happy Hunting to all!”

    Sandtrooper SoCal Rod Reports:
“Did a little Southern Cali toy run Saturday to see if I could spend any money. Started at the Hemet Target had nothing, maybe two figures on the pegs, but I did run into Sandtroopers.com's very own Jedi Dom. We talked collecting for sometime, and then I proceeded to move to the Hemet K-mart. No sign here of Cantina scene #2, but they had enough cantina scene number #1's to start considering this toy a definite shelf warmer. Only a few saga figures here with the most notable being the Antilles action figure. You know the one. The guy that gets introduced to Vader by getting choked out and then body slammed in A New Hope. Next, I hit a couple of Wal-Mart?s (Hemet and Murrieta) and once again was left shaking my head. The Hemet Wal-Mart had one lone figure on the pegs. One? The whole Star Wars section was bare. No sign of even a VOTC Ben or Han. What is going on here? Next, I went to the Murrieta Toys "R" Us that had a few OTC figures (Dagobah wave) and some of the Star Destroyer bounty hunters. Did find the Darth Vader tie fighter noticeably absent at this local. That surprised me! My last stop was Costco where I managed to pick up one of the Tie Fighter and X-Wing two packs. Basically both ships are packaged in sort of a dogfight type scene with the clear plastic in front and on top with a black box. The set also includes a pack-in Luke X-Wing and TIE Fighter pilot minus their weapons. The two pack cost $29.99. Troopers keep an eye out at Target. With figures on sale at $3.88 and Star Wars 15% off they should have some cases and stock going through. Until next time, SouthernCaliRod out.”

    Star Wars Sales at Target!
After going through all my Sunday morning ads I noticed a pretty good sale in the Target ad. Target has all OTC figures on sale for $3.88 and the deluxe lightsabers on sale for $14.88. Also, there is 15% off on all other Star Wars toys. This is a really good sale, and I'm going to have to make a run out to Target today.

    Sandtrooper Forcehunter Reports:
“Sandtrooper Forcehunter reporting for duty after a long dry spell here in Jacksonville. I finally got lucky and scored a few remnants of OTC waves at the San Jose Target. Figures spotted were 2x Lobot, Leia (ANH) Yoda, Wicket, 3x Snowtroopers, Han (ANH) Artoo (ANH and Dagobah). I must have missed the case openings by about an hour from the looks of it as they were out of Cloud Car Pilots.”

We're just glad to hear your okay after the recent events down there!

Star Wars: We've received limited stock of the older AT-ST and speeder bike boxed set - available for $59.99. Also available is the Post-OTC set of 5 figures for $49.99. These figures are in transit to us now and should be here in 4 - 8 days, we sold out of them almost instantly last time so here is an opportunity to reserve a set in advance.

Spawn 26: McFarlane's latest series of figures 'The Art of Spawn' is now in stock for $59.99 for the set of 6. The figures included in this wave are based from various works throughout the Spawn comic series. Figures include: Tremor, 2 versions of Spawn, Tiffany, Black Knight and more!

20% Off Vintage Menu Items Sale: All items listed on any of the vintage menus - are now available for 20% off the listed prices! Hasbro Energon Pre-Orders: We've listed a short term pre-order for the next Energon Basic wave - which includes 2 figures from Superion and 2 figures from the Constructicons! The 4 new figures are available as a pre-order set and we also have an 8 figure set which includes doom-lock,command ravage and others. This wave is in transit to us now! The Deluxe Slugslinger, Sharticon, Downshift, Towline and more should be shipping to us from Hasbro this week! So look for them to arrive in under 2 weeks - pre-orders available for all.

Transformers: A variety of previously sold out items have been restocked: #00 prime, #01 Jazz, #03 Skids, #07 Sideswipe, #10 Soundwave, #11 Astrotrain, Hasbro Ultra Magnus re-issue, and Heroes of Cybertron Wave 4 sets of 6 (which is at the bottom of the main TF menu). The pricing on these is a bit above our standard pricing because supplies in Japan are very low and we've had to buy from secondary sources, but they are still reasonable and I'm not sure how many more times we'll be able to restock some of them.

Also in stock: Takara Insecticion Clones, Soul of Chogokin. There are also new Pre-Orders as well!

    Sandtrooper Jedimaster-C Reports:
Are they still making these?“Hey all, if you have a TRU near you and you are looking for the VOTC 3 ?-inch Fett and Stormtrooper, keep an eye on them. I found 1 case (typical) of the ROTJ wave. The Fett and Stormtrooper look awesome. I didn't get R2 or Chewie. I agree with you about the debates Darth Spice. Al Gore during 9-11? Good God. It angered me when people after 9-11 protested the war in Afghanistan. I don't think these people at the time were keeping up with current events; we got our butts kicked that day.”

    Support the Troops, and America:
We don't change our stance on jack squat! BACK America, kill the TerroristsHey Troopers, last night some of you may have watched the Presidential debate. Hopefully those of you who are not registered to vote will register. What could be the most important election in U.S. history. I don't know about you Troops, but it wakes me up at night when I think of Al Gore running the show during the 9-11 attacks. There is plenty you can do, to help make a change. Regardless if it's Kerry or Bush, do your part in helping make a stronger UNITED America. It is real easy to stand up there and point out the 'mistakes' someone else made. Right or wrong, you should back the your country and support the soldiers that are laying it out on the line for YOUR freedom. Support the REAL Troops, if we don't learn from the past mistakes, not only history but defeat will also repeat. God Bless the United States of America! Now back to our regular scheduled program.

    Sandtrooper Mike Reports:
“Hello troopers, wow, 2 posts within a week, my job took me to the Quad City's of Iowa yesterday, and I had some time to kill, so I made a run to Target and Wally World off of I-74 in Davenport, and scored the OTC Bespin wave and Endor wave, both stores had plenty of figs on the pegs, like Leia, Cloud Pilots, Lobot, Han Endor Strike, Crix Madine, Lando, Wickets, and the common repacks. No sign of Slave I at target, or a designated spot on the shelf for it. I went on a run Wednesday after work in my stomping grounds of NW Indiana and the same ole', same ole', nothing. Hope this helps you boys and girls out. Semper FI!”

    Sandtrooper Kevin Reports:
“I took a chance and hit Wal-Mart near my Mother in laws after cutting her grass. After seeing the shelf warmers of the 12" VOTC, the Ep2 figures, I thought all was lost until I looked up and saw VOTC R2. All the others were gone, except the new peg warmer, Lando, with the other pegs warmer Han. I'm done with all the figures from the VOTC. I only wanted Vader, Leia, and R2. I like the articulation on Boba but I can't get past those huge wristbands. My vote is still with the 300th. Now all I have to do is wait for the Ep 3 Vader. That's it from South Jersey. Look for 4 in a row from the EAGLES...even if they are playing my BEARS. Gotta go with the home team. And register to vote if you haven't.”

    Sandtrooper Jon Reports:
“I went on a long toy run this afternoon. I covered multiple stores and locations of the major toy retailers (K-Mart, Toys R' Us, Wal-Mart, and Target) in Ann Arbor, MI and Toledo, OH. I found nothing new. None of the last wave of the OTC figures, no Slave I, no Y-wing, no Cantina scene #2, and I couldn't find the VOTC ESB wave that had been around the past week. Some stores had a mix of SAGA and OTC and the other had pegs less than half stocked with OTC/VOTC. Hopefully, something new will hit soon.”

"Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" - Rated ???
Image DescriptionOn Monday this week USA Today wrote up a nice article regarding the film rating of "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith". The final installment of the Star Wars saga will be out in theaters on May 19, 2005, and people are already starting to question what film rating will be tagged to this movie. Previous Star Wars movies have been rated PG, but since this is expected to be the darkest movie of all six it is possible this will be rated PG-13. Be sure to read the full article here.
